And this one, a racing legend. For 1989 Audi essentially took their legendary Group B Quattro rally car and fit it for IMSA road racing. Dundrod - Historic Road Racing Championship Round 4 - PoV Live GPLaps 2022-10-22 | Sweet sweet Dundrod, the jewel of Northern Ireland's road racing and home to the Ulster Grand Prix. A terrifying proposition for sportscars, but indeed it was run 5 times between 1950 and 1955 as the home of the RAC Tourist Trophy. Head to Head racing over a course not too dissimilar in feel to the Isle of Man. Fast, narrow and absolutely nothing to protect you. This is road racing at its purest definition and serves round number 4 of the Historic Road Racing Championship!I am leading the points overall coming into this round, but with drop races to start factoring in things can change in an instant. Day two sees a thorough mix of tarmac and ice/snow and its now always clear what tire to be on. What looks to be an extremely punishing 2nd leg is ahead and from there, who knows? Can I muscle the escort through the conditions and earn back some of that time lost in Leg 1? This one will be tricky being the first majorly varying surface rally between tarmac, ice, snow, gravel and everything inbetween. If this is foreign to you (I know it is for a lot of you!) its a really awesome type of racing, and one I am fortunate enough to see in person 5+ times a year. I've said in the past that I think iRacing has the best AI, but it wasn't until the last couple of weeks that I really sunk my teeth in and played with every setting to see how it works. I am happy to say it works really really well... mostly. Barum Rally Zlín - Sim Rally Masters R5 - Richard Burns Rally GPLaps 2022-09-10 | Having now scraped the last of the mud from Mumbai off the underside of the Escort, Sim Rally Masters heads to Czech for the Barum rally. The stages will be primarily asphalt, but bumps and the rare dirt section are always a surprise. At over 270km and 4 legs, this will be one of the shorter rallies of the season as the speeds are quite high. But with high speed comes danger and making it to the finish without incident will be almost as important as going fast.For this one the challenge will be to complete the entire rally in one session, can it be done? But with their addition instantly came the question, when will there be ovals? GTR2 Still Rocks 🤘 GPLaps 2022-08-14 | When you look at it, how much has sim racing really progressed since this gem came out 16 years ago? GTR2 is still a ton of fun to play, and has many features, especially for offline racing that many modern sims sorely lack. Because its been around so long it can sometimes seem like a daunting task to get it running these days, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Although you absolutely can go install a lot of mods and great addons to improve nearly every aspect of the sim, stock GTR2 is still great and very easy to get running. Together with a couple of small patches, you may mistake yourself into thinking you're still racing on the bleeding edge...If you are having trouble with GTR2 not starting, make sure to run the 'GTR2Config' !GTR2 EXE Patch: .... Mumbai-Colombo Part 2 - Sim Rally Masters R4 - Richard Burns Rally GPLaps 2022-07-19 | Back for more, we continue on the wild adventure through the South Asian countryside. Last time out the run started with a couple lucky incidents, but through leg two a decent pace and confidence over the mountains. But now in part two we return to the jungles before heading off to Sri Lanka and the city for the end of the event. Beware of wild animals!For the last leg of the rally, drivers leave mainland Asia behind to cross the Palk Strait over to Sri Lanka with a ferry shuttle from Madras to Point Pedro, a small coastal town and the most northern part of Sri Lanka. We'll see more nature reserves, but instead of savannah and grassland, there's more of a forest vegetation. But for a short time in the 1950s Battenberg and 7.5 miles of beautiful roads nearby were home to motorcycle grand prix'. The latest in the line of immaculate circuits from Fat Alfie, Battenberg offers a little bit of everything and is an excellent venue for a race. Although never holding car races, and certainly nothing in the 1930s, Battenberg serves as a fitting backdrop for muscling around interwar Grand Prix vehicles. Anything but easy, the wet stages in particular were some of the most challenging of any rally thusfar. But there are two legs remaining in the rally and despite some off-stage adventures, not having a super rally is absolutely paying off. Tour de Corse - Sim Rally Masters R3 - Richard Burns Rally GPLaps 2022-05-07 | I was naive to think rallying on Tarmac would be easier... The SRM circus goes to France for the Tour de Corsa and round 3 of the championship. This all-asphalt round sounds like a circuit racer's dream, but with mixed weather conditions, surface changes, and the general narrowness of all the stages, this may be the toughest rally yet. Couple all of that with 35 grueling stages, none of which are repeated* and you have what will likely be a near impossible task to make it through clean! In recent years, the rally had always concentrated in 1 or 2 areas of the island, but now, drivers can relive the full journey again. Weather forecast is highly unpredictable on the mountainous island. Competitors will have to be prepared for sun and rain alike.Because we go around the full island, the liaison distances between the different stages and service parks are quite big. This is why the rally will be driven over 5 days. On Wednesday, there's an opening ceremony in the capital of Corse-du-Sud and Corsica as a whole: Ajaccio. The drivers head immediately into the mountains of southern Corsica while they make their way to coastal city of Porto Vecchio where the day will end.The next day offers some slightly rougher tarmac roads as drivers leave Sud-du-Corse to head north towards Haute-Corse. 8 stages without proper service means the drivers will have to measure their efforts carefully to not sustain any damage. High in the mountains, drivers will camp up for the night in the small town of Corte.Friday is a bit of a shorter day to give the drivers a bit more rest before the weekend starts. iRacing Lotus 49 at Zandvoort - Live GPLaps 2022-04-16 | I will be joining the 49'ers for their weekly "Big Race" with the Lotus 49 at Zandvoort. Zandvoort of course was a long part of Grand Prix racing of the 1950s - 80s, however this is the 'modern version' of Zandvoort. Not quite as flowing and somewhat frustrating to drive, this one will be all about patience on throttle and balancing the car through slower technical corners. IndyCar Challenge All Star Race - Full Race - 1989 CART - Indycar Racing II GPLaps 2022-04-15 | With just one race to go in the 1989 season and the Championship in the air, we take a quick break for some non-points racing, with the "IndyCar Challenge". This all-star race was run from 1987 - 1992 at various venues and featured the winners/pole sitters and top points finishers in the Indycar season. This short field would battle it out in a flat out short race for a big bonus, and of course some additional practice.
