Morgan2026-09-17 | We talk about Jackie Robinson's greatest leadership skill—emotional discipline—and how it applies beyond baseball. We explore how he balanced standing up for himself with restraint to advance the mission of breaking the color barrier, and we reflect on the lesson that not every insult deserves a response, and knowing when not to react is a form of leadership. You Don’t Need a Title to LeadMichael R. Morgan2026-09-15 | You don’t need to be the supervisor, manager, director, or president to lead.
Long before anyone gives you a title, people are watching how you show up, how you treat others, whether you keep your word, and what you do when problems arise.
You may be waiting for someone to recognize you as a leader.
Meanwhile, someone may already be following your example.
This week’s G.R.O.W. is about leading where you are.

You practice what you are becoming. Before You Ask How to Motivate Your Team, Ask Yourself ThisMichael R. Morgan2026-09-14 | Leadership often starts with the questions we ask ourselves.
Before asking, “How do I motivate my team?” or “How do I get people to follow me?” ask yourself:
Do I show up prepared? Do I keep my commitments? Am I giving people a reason to trust my leadership?
Leadership starts with you.
You practice what you are becoming.

#Leadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Mentoring #ShortsMentor Leaders Put People First | Romans 12:2Michael R. Morgan2026-09-12 | Before you try to change the young person in front of you, ask yourself one question:
Have I listened long enough to actually know him?
Romans 12:2 speaks about being transformed by the renewing of your mind. For mentors, sometimes that means changing the way we see the young people we’ve been called to lead.
Mentoring isn’t about creating a younger version of yourself. It’s about listening, building trust and helping a young person discover who they can become.
A Few Good MENtors is beginning our 9-Month Mentoring Program, and we’re still looking for men willing to step forward and mentor.
You practice what you are becoming.A Firsthand Account of 9/11: Leadership Through ServiceMichael R. Morgan2026-09-11 | On September 11, 2001, I was serving with the FBI. The following day, I was at the Pentagon.
More than two decades later, I can still remember the smell of jet fuel and what I witnessed from first responders and others who simply showed up to serve.
That experience reinforced a lesson I still carry today: leadership isn’t about your title. It’s about showing up when people need you and being willing to serve.
Today, I remember those we lost and honor the men and women who answered the call.

9/11 taught me a lesson about leadership that has stayed with me ever since: when people need you, you show up and serve.MLK Was Only 26: A Leadership Lesson We Still Need TodayMichael R. Morgan2026-09-10 | Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was only 26 years old when the Montgomery Bus Boycott began.
He wasn’t yet the national leader we remember today. He was a young pastor who was asked to help lead something much bigger than himself.
There’s a lesson in that for anyone waiting until they feel “ready” to lead.
Leadership doesn’t always wait for more experience, more confidence, a bigger title, or someone’s permission. Sometimes responsibility shows up first—and you grow into the leader the moment requires.
I’m Michael R. Morgan. I share practical leadership lessons drawn from history, experience, mentoring, and more than three decades of public service.

#Leadership #MLK #MartinLutherKingJr #LeadershipDevelopment #BlackHistoryWould You Want to Be Led by You? | The Truth About Self-LeadershipMichael R. Morgan2026-09-09 | Would you want to be led by you?
Leadership isn’t just about managing teams, holding people accountable, or having a title. It starts with your ability to lead yourself.
In this video, I share lessons from my 36-year career with the FBI and my work teaching leadership and human behavior. We explore accountability, self-awareness, DISC, and the behaviors that shape how people experience your leadership.
Here’s the question I want you to consider:
Are you consistently demonstrating the same behaviors you expect from the people you lead?
You practice what you are becoming.
I’m Michael R. Morgan. I help leaders better understand themselves, communicate with people, and become stronger leaders through leadership development, DISC training, workshops, and speaking.

Behind the Little Rock Nine stood Daisy Bates. She helped organize their enrollment, supported their families, and prepared the students for the hostility they would face.
Her story reminds us that leadership is not always about receiving attention. Sometimes, it means preparing others to walk through doors that were once closed.

Strong leadership requires communication, accountability, trust, and the ability to work with people who think and respond differently. If no one prepared you for that responsibility, it is time to build the skills your team needs from you.
What did you have to learn after becoming responsible for leading others?

Blackdom New MexicoMichael R. Morgan2026-03-23 | Blackdom, New Mexico was one of the few all-Black towns founded in the early 1900s by African American settlers seeking freedom, land ownership, and a fresh start in the West. Led by Frank and Ella Boyer, families built homes, farms, a school, and a church in the desert.
Despite harsh conditions and limited water, Blackdom stood as a powerful symbol of independence and self-determination.
Its story reminds us that Black history isn’t just rooted in struggle, it’s also built on vision, courage, and the pursuit of something better.
