Although he has a relatively small following compared to others, the controversy surrounding his Rewired Soul brand has seemed to garner quite a lot of attention, mainly because of the topics he explores and how the information is presented. He rose to prominence in December of 2018 due to his video covering Illymation’s experience with her ex-boyfriend, the video received positive attention and was the catalyst that kick-started his YouTube career, going from 40-thousand subscribers to a peak of 101,815 on February 14, 2019. However, this growth ended just as it started to begin, and after a tumultuous series of critical videos over the space of two-or-so months, his channel has since declined into a memory of what it once was. It’s been over half a year since the outrage that faced Chris, and in this time you would have expected him to conduct some sort of restoration project to rebuild his image and credibility within the community, and somewhat grow from the criticism he received. However, instead of acknowledging the criticism, he became defensive and turned what was a simple critique of his content into a series of mistakes in which he was exposed. He believes his downfall was unjust, that what he did was not worthy of the attention he received. It’s evident in the book he wrote about this experience, which we will get to in this video, that he holds himself accountable for being “cancelled” because of the “stupid things he did”, but doesn’t take accountability for what he was criticised for, arguably being the reason why his reputation is still in ruins. Danielle Prism, is one of commentary’s favourite scapegoats, and I must not lie, this is my third video on the poor girl, so she must get tired of being the example we all use for what shouldn’t be natural on YouTube. By now, we should all be aware of the general issues surrounding her, because it’s not like every other commentary YouTuber and their dog have made a video on this topic. However, what I’d like to explore deeper into is the relationship between her content and the brands she works with, and tie that back into my argument regarding her mother, Jennifer Archambault. In my first video, I addressed the role big Jenny has in the ‘exploitation’ of her daughter for a life of luxury, and pleasantries in the sunny state of California. Jen is Danielle’s “momager”, meaning she essentially has full control over whatever her daughter does. Which is why we questioned her role in allowing Danielle, who is allegedly 15 years old, to partake in promoting the content you wouldn’t really attribute to a young teenager. In the conclusion, we assumed naivety was the cause of this, in the hopes Jennifer doesn’t get in trouble because of the clear lack of ethics she has when it comes to her daughter’s image and safety online.What brings me back to this topic is the revelations we’ve had in the last few months regarding Danielle, and the amount of “drama” surrounding her, her age, and just the existence of her online career. Thankfully, the age debate has seemingly ended with pretty much every single person except Danielle and her mother agreeing she is 13-years-old, which has a bit more of an impact with what we will discuss later on. Not only has her father come out and explained she is 13, so too did her ex-boyfriend’s parents, but there was also a leaked birth certificate, images from her old school, an appearance on BTEC Dr Phil which was cancelled, and of course, the fact she couldn’t have competed in the National American Miss Princess division in 2012 and 13. In a more literal sense, there’s no more debate, she’s 13, let’s shift the talking point. So, furthering this idea of exploitation, we need to look deeper into how Big Jen is letting Danielle be subject to the… Less than desirable Wario and Waluigi’s of society. Sorry boy’s. But, yes, remember earlier this year when good old BTEC Leon Lush decided to ruin everyone’s year by further demonetising the entire platform again? Well, the new guidelines brought in by YouTube to counter the negative press they received from this were designed to protect children from these Wario and Waluigi’s who were doing not-so-family-friendly things with content including children. Now, as a result of this, loads of channels were either demonetised or lost the ability for people to comment. However, YouTube, in good YouTube fashion, completely failed to implement this and it resulted in people like slab head here, who is to my knowledge, not a child, getting their comment sections blocked for quite a long time.
