This is all possible in survival mode, just need a punch 2 bow (1 will still work), some projectile protection armour and the Elytra. It takes a bit of practice launching from flat ground but once you are in the air it's fairly easy to stay up there.
There is a good chance this will get nerfed in future snapshots but fun while it lasts :D

#SurvivalMinecraft[Minecraft Tech] Redstone Computer Reading a .txt FileKoala_Steamed2015-08-01 | My redstone computer can now read text files on my actual computer!
Been wanting to do this a long time but my old decoder didn't work, so I made a new one. This is much more stable and reads pulse lengths instead of on/off. Using python in Applescript I'm able to read the text file in ASCII, then output clicks to simulate binary that my redstone computer understands.

I still have to manually select which address to read and write to, also this type of data can be corrupted fairly easily because of a redstone bug with serial repeaters. So I may have to find an alternate way of doing it.

Word processor that can load files from memory. Has uppercase, lowercase, numbers & symbols. Not the fastest of word processors but every single bit of data comes through a single line of redstone. I've also got plans to turn this into a working computer with an ALU and CPU.
5x10, 50 character limit monitor using 16 segment display. There are 7.357x10^92 different combinations the screen can show, all of which can be controlled from 1 line.
Working on adding RAM so that files can also be saved. Also need to add more symbols and well as command functions instead of using /1 to load file 1. I'll make it ctrl 'L' 1 and ctrl 'n' for new file and so on.

I had a go at making a basic PLA chip with redstone (not actually sure if you can still buy these). Hopefully later on I can make some more useful chips which can be programmed for use in more advanced electronics.
They work using an array of AND and OR gates with a fuse on each intersection, once the fuse is blown it will block the signal down that specific line. I didn't get around to wiring up the fuses so there are like 50+ inputs xD

Using my 1 tick comparator trick, we can now fit 4 bits of data per comparator to make a 1 kb hard drive. This is around one tenth the size of most conventional redstone data storage devices.
This is actually 1KB (bit over). I see a lot of people making memory in minecraft calling 1 KB 1024 bits, which is incorrect. 1KB = 8192 bits or 1024 bytes. If this is the most compact data storage in minecraft let me know :)
This does have a few downsides making it's practical application not all that great. Firstly it's sequential access memory (SAM) meaning it can only be accessed in the order saved. You could create "chapter selectors though". Also there is no pausing it so it has to be constantly running. The uses that i can think of are things like note block songs or it could be useful for large amounts of data you want to temporarily saved/moved in redstone computer devices.
*Edit* There is actually an even more compact way of storing memory using chest mine carts. Although no one has actually built it in a more compact way it is theoretically possible. Check out this video for the concept youtube.com/watch?v=ydiyDVxs9ps

Song: Cymbals Crash and Burn - Small ColinRedstone Wars - Discount Calculator: Finals!Koala_Steamed2014-03-27 | Task this round is to create a machine that will determine the minimal cost per hunger from 2 foods; melon (giving 1 hunger) & bread (giving 2 hunger). The cost of bread and melon must be settable from 0 to 999. Hunger must also be settable from 0 to 999. Using these values that machine will find the minimal cost using either melon, bread or a combination of both to satisfy the exact hunger needed.
Objective: Compact as possible
For those that are interested in how my devise works...
Modulus 2 of hunger = either 0 or 1 (find out if hunger is odd or even) Calculating bread If odd ( ( hunger x bread - bread )/2 ) + melon If even (bread x hunger)/2 For melon just melon x hunger Then the new bread value is added while the melon value is subtracted. If positive melon is chosen if negative bread is chosen. Simple right...?
This is not just your normal blow up dirt and stone TNT, it also breaks through obsidian and bedrock. All you need is 4 TNT and a few stacks of arrows and you are good to go. This workes in vanilla survival Minecraft 1.7 & 1.8 snapshots.

To put things in perspective, this single wire can generate over 1 trillion possible outcomes (2^40) each second, in survival minecraft. As far as I know these speeds haven't been reached before.
I'm still working on a receiver that can convert the continuous signal from serial analog 4 bits/tick, to parallel binary 16 bits per 400ms. Having a few problems with update bugs but i'm pretty sure it is possible to convert the full signal, i just have to reconfigure a little.

The ones i would suggest using: Duel Block Repeater - For standard signals Fastest Two Way Repeater - For sending 2 way signals down 1 line Combined 0-15 Signal Strength Repeater - For repeating signal strengths No Delay Instant Repeater - For sending signals long distance
I don't have listed who invented these because most are standard repeaters that have been created by different people. It's hard to say who was the first to "invent" each one.
Speed is measured in meters per second, where 1 block = 1 meter. Pulse duration means the repeater can repeat the duration that the input is turned on for. Signal strength is the strength of the input from 0-15. 1 tick input, if the repeater can handle a 1 tick pulse.

This can be used to send up to 256 different signals down 1 redstone line. It can also be used to store large amounts of RAM or ROM which only need 1 output line. By using this along side computers or redstone contraptions that use binary, it could communicate with other computers using only a single line of redstone.

To make this an 871 million year clock just fill all of one side of the hoppers with stackable items. I decided not to show it in the video because you would most likely get bored after the first decade, so i just put 1 item in each :) This clock system can easily be varied to make different clocks such as 1 min, 1 hour, 1 day and so on.
This is not my original design, i came up with a more compact one but it's only tileable to 2 clocks, giving a 9 hour clock (can be seen in the video background). The original hopper clock is from Etho and the tileable design, is by munin295. So all credit to them.

Not the most practical of farms, but it could be still be done without the use of potions. At the moment this is just a concept, as far as I know zombies can only spawn 1 additional zombie. This means you would have to kill off the spawner zombies and transport the new ones to the spawner chamber.
This can also work underground, best to set it up near a zombie spawner to start off the chain reaction.
