Thank you so so much to every one that has contributed to this video with your views, comments, shares, and likes! I had no idea it would receive so much attention.

And to all my subscribers thank you as well for deciding to stick with my channel!

Most of what I upload is for my own personal use be it for school, work, or for the desire to listen to a piece with the words and translations right in front of me. I will be uploading some original music in the future and already have a short one-take posted under "untitled".

I wish I had a list of the paintings and art I used in the video, but I didn't write down or keep track of a thing back when I made it. Most of it was searching through images that matched the emotions or color of the piece as I imagined it, so any deeper meaning of the piece was not explicitly glossed with the music. But, I find it really cool that some of you in the comments have made connections between them and I give that a HUGE thumbs UP!

I also know some of you are frustrated by the red text on orange moon background, but I just really wanted it to be a dark text bc the opening is so brooding and ominous sounding. I know it's kind of hard to read, but it's really not that bad, calm down haha. And I changed it to white on the next screen, so it's not for the whole movement.

I Am In Need of Music by David L. Brunner

Cameron Stahl 2012-07-16 | Performed by the GMEA All-State Senior Mixed Choir that I had the honor to perform with on February 25, 2012. Conducted by Brad Holmes. This piece is so beautiful and serene, and it was a pleasure performing it. Not really difficult compared to our other pieces but what did make it a bit hard was the dynamics. it never gets really loud, at one part we are mezzo-forte and we crescendo, but its not for long and every other part of the song is very quiet and it took a lot of continuous conscious effort to keep the dynamic low and the crescendos and decrescendos gradual. This was initially going to be the closing of the concert, but apparently our conductor had other plans. As the audience was clapping for us he said that we were going to do "Noel" again, I thought he was joking...he wasn't. If you listen closely, as the audience is cheering at the end of the piece, you can her our pianist giving us our starting pitches for our little reprise of "Noel".

Noel (reprise) - Brad Holmes

Cameron Stahl 2012-07-16 | So, in rehearsals our conductor Brad Holmes mentioned something about doing "Noel" again at the end of the concert, myself and probably everyone else laughed a little and thought he was kidding, but no he was not. After we finished "I Am In Need of Music" it was all good you know we had just finished our set and we were all proud of what had been accomplished, aaaaannnnnnd we were exhausted by that point so the feeling of relief after the piece was great, for a couple seconds, our conductor said for us to get ready to do "Noel" again. I still thought he was kidding till our pianist gave us our pitches and the drums started going, but we sang and had fun with it! Of course it was a bit impromptu, so no one really knew which parts we were going to be singing so at about 0:27, half of the choir was singing one part till we realized we were going on to a different part. The confusion made an interesting effect though, and if i didn't mention it here then probably no one will have noticed. I think the entire concert was great and I don't believe there one even one weak piece, everyone worked their butts off that weekend and it was an experience that I will always remember. Being in a high school choir we do not really sing repertory like this and I wish we did because I love it wish a passion. Festivals such as All-State are great for anyone interested in music and I would encourage anyone out there to get with their school conductor and talk about going to an audition because in a young persons life it can be a experience of a lifetime.

Brad Holmes - Noel

Cameron Stahl 2012-06-11 | Performed by the GMEA All-State Senior Mixed Choir that I had the honor to perform with on February 25, 2012. The arranger of the piece, Brad Holmes, was also the conductor of our choir. This was not a piece that I really liked too much, but it was most peoples favorite at the performance. It is upbeat and fun so of course the audience loved it, but it was basically forte the whole time and really high too, so it was pretty tiring to perform. I like the song and it is fun to sing, but let me tell you, after already performing 5 other pieces, its difficult to be all super energetic and singing really high and loud during the whole song. Still, it is a great piece and while it was tiring performing it, I think it was totally worth it. Oh, and btw, the beginning is supposed to be like two tribes and like they are calling out to each other, it starts with just one voice and slowly more are added bc more ppl can hear the call and soon everyone is all together singing.

Guy Forbes - O Nata Lux

I absolutely love this piece, every time we sing the word "lux" I felt as if beams of light were shining through our voices. Overall it is just gorgeous and being apart of it was a deeply spiritual experience that I hope you, the audience, may experience as well by listening.

This and No. 5 Приидите, поклонимся (Priidite, poklonimsya) were my two favorites. i love this piece becuase it is just so interesting throughout, these is always something crazy and/or strange going on, whether it be dynamics, tempo, clashing notes, or the shifting meter. It was really fun to sing because I could really get into it and when I sang it was almost like I was angry (even though we were sing about God lol!). It was draining both vocally and physically, but the end result was totally worth it. And btw one of the coolest and most interesting parts is at 4:41 we are singing all 12 notes of the chromatic scale at the same time, we started on and A natural and the sopranos and tenors went up chromatically while the altos and basses when down (at each step some people stayed on the same pitch so thats how the effect was made).

This piece and Himne were definitely my two favorites. As far as the notes and pitches are concerned this piece was not all too difficult, what was difficult was trying to capture that essence of the overwhelming reverence for God that Russian singers give to their music when they sing. I think the end result was amazing and I hope all of y'all out there listening think the same.

Sweelinck - Chantez à Dieu

Cameron Stahl 2012-04-12 | Peformed by the 2012 GMEA Senior Mixed Chorus that I had the honor to perform with on February 25, 2012. Conducted by Brad Holmes. On the first day of rehearsal we sang this only on the syllable "doo" and the idea was to be like a xylophone. I heard other approaches to this and most of them have taken it at a much slower tempo but personally I like this a bit more because I think it fits the style of the piece better, it polyphonic so when its taken at a slow pace you cant really hear the words being sung because it so slow that the words, from all the different parts, are mushing together, but thats just my opinion. And let me just say our altos and basses were kickin' it not only in this, but in all the pieces, I was a tenor myself but I just gotta give them props.

Cameron Stahl 2012-04-12 | Peformed by the 2012 GMEA Senior Mixed Choir that I had the honor to perform with on Fubruary 25, 2012. Conducted by Brad Holmes. This piece was a bit difficult because of the style of it. Its very fast paced and dynamically most of it is forte, and after you sing it a while your energy goes down and keeping it up can be challenging. (not to mention the fact that Handel just likes to put people up in the ozone-layer and leave 'em there). In the end I believe that we did a great job and I am honored to have been apart of putting some life back into these old notes. :D

Sea Moods accompaniment

Cameron Stahl 2011-12-21 | I looked everywhere on the internet and on youtube for an accompaniment to Mildred Tyson's "Sea Moods" (which is in "The First Book of Baritone/Bass Solos"), I could never find it, so I imputed the piano part into a free music composition software because I getting desperate for an accompaniment haha! Well anyway, its not the best because it is done on a computer and you cant really get true expression or a realistic sound from a computer (especially a free software).

I tried to stay as true to the music as possible, as far as dynamics and tempo changes are concerned. I recognize that things like some of the ritardandos in the piece are very expressive and are alot of times left up to the vocalist to guide the accompaniment, so on those i really just made it fit to the way i would perform it. This is the reason some of the pauses in the music are longer or shorter than some would prefer.

Hopefully this will come in handy to anyone else who is performing but does not have a ready accompaniment. :)
