Astronomers just announced the discovery of 8 potentially alien radio signals, using machine learning to comb through old data sets.These signals came from 5 different stars, all within 90 light years of Earth.One of them came from a G-type star, just like our own sun. Another one mysteriously stopped and reappeared 3 days later. Symphony of Science - 10th Anniversary Tribute melodysheep 2019-09-17 | Celebrating 10 years of remixing scientists with a mashup of my earliest work. It all began with a goofy remix of Carl Sagan I thought nobody would ever see - I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going, but I was having fun. The response blew me away. I owe everything to you guys - my deepest thanks to everyone who has followed along on this weird and wild creative journey and made the whole thing possible. I kinda cringe at the quality of those old videos, but the spirit is much the same, and I hope you dig this little nostalgic trip back through the past decade. I always thought my dream job would be a musician or film composer. But this trip has taught me that filmmaking is where my passion is strongest. Timelapse of a Mars Rover melodysheep 2019-05-01 | Using raw rover imagery and the sound of actual wind on Mars, I painted this little portrait of Opportunity, our faithful little martian rover friend that was lost earlier this year. Losing a rover feels a little like losing a pet. But for all that it accomplished, and for our ability to revel in all the awesome images it collected over its lifetime, its end is bittersweet. Oppy traveled 28 miles on Mars over a span of 14 years - an amazing feat of engineering and human ambition. After sifting through thousands of raw Mars images for hours and hours, I have developed a strange sense of Mars as a real place I have been, riding alongside this little rover that could, making laps across rocky martian plains. My hope is this little portrait gives you a glimpse of that same feeling. Still can't believe we put a vehicle on mars that lasted almost 15 years. I don’t even expect my car to run that long.
