The 2026 fireworks were presented under the motto: “What a Wonderful World – A Fireworks Display Full of Joy for Life”. Legendary fireworks master Hideki Kubota once again created a magical and emotional show featuring colorful scenes, golden waterfalls, smileys, hearts, and uniquely Japanese pyrotechnic artistry. Japan Tag 2026 took place on May 23rd, 2026 along Düsseldorf’s scenic Rhine Embankment Promenade (Rheinuferpromenade). Under the motto “Experience Japan - A night sky full of magic”, visitors were able to watch the spectacle for around 25 minutes. As always, fireworks master Hideki Kubota was responsible for the display. The challenge this year was to ensure that the installation did not get wet beforehand. Japan Tag 2025 was held on May 24th, 2025 along the scenic Rhine Embankment Promenade (Rheinuferpromenade) in Düsseldorf. Despite the rainy weather this year, the spirit of celebration remained strong as thousands of visitors gathered to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of Japan. Due to the heavy rain throughout the day, attendance was noticeably lower (around 380.000 visitors) than in previous years, yet the event still drew a dedicated crowd eager to celebrate the enduring friendship between Japan and Germany. Even under gray skies, the fireworks brought magic and wonder to the evening. Renowned pyrotechnician Hideki Kubota once again crafted a breathtaking show that lit up the city skyline, blending delicate spark showers with powerful aerial bursts.
