The Nighttime Mode feature is enabled by default and begins at 11:00 pm and ends at 6:00 am, though the times can be adjusted. During Nighttime Mode, certain aspects of the system can be muted or disabled. This is particularly helpful if the panel is mounted in a bedroom or near a baby's room.
By default, only the display is disabled during Nighttime Mode. You can also disable Voices, Chimes, and LEDs if you want. That means, from 11:00 pm - 6:00 am (or whatever start and stop times you set) the display will be dark, and if enabled, there will be no voice annunciation, no chimes, and no LEDs lit. If you touch the display, it will wake up, and if an alarm occurs, it will be treated as any normal alarm with full display and sound.
With the information in this video, you'll be able to adjust the screen's brightness. You'll also be able to set up Nighttime Mode with your preferred options. If you deselect all options (Display, Voices, Chimes, and LEDs) you will disable Nighttime Mode, regardless of the start and stop times selected.

If you have a panel in a location where there is no WIFI, you have a couple of options. You can use a phone as a hotspot and fool the panel into thinking it has a WIFI connection long enough to download and update. If that's also not an option, you can use the panel's access point to transfer the update to the panel. This is known as using AP Mode.
Dylan shows you all the steps involved in using AP Mode, with the exception of the actual update. Since the panel was already on the latest version, he was not able to show you that part. To use AP Mode, you'll need a phone, tablet, or computer that supports a WIFI connection. Start the panel's access point, then either scan the QR Code provided on the panel screen, or manually connect to the panel's access point using the SSID and Password provided on the screen.
Once you're connected, scan the next QR Code provided by the panel, or open your browser and go to the IP Address displayed on the panel. This basically logs you into the panel and allows you to browse to the files required to perform the update. Just be sure you know where the update files are stored on your device. On a phone it will likely be in Files. On a computer, it will likely be in Downloads.
Once you've selected all the requested files, the panel will upload the files, then begin the update. If you will be updating using a patch tag, navigate to the update screen, then select "Update using patch tag" and type in the tag name. It's usually iqpanel#.#.# where #.#.# equals the firmware version, i.e., iqpanel4.4.2. You can find full instructions in the FAQ listed at the bottom of this description.
Once an update begins, it's important not to power the system down or touch the screen. Allow it to fully update, including rebooting. When it boots back up, it will take a few minutes to connect to WIFI and to get the current status of all sensors. To verify your version information tap the gray bar at the top of the page, then Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default, respectively) then tap About and select Software.

To set the master volume, tap the gray bar at the top of the screen, located above the time and date. This brings down a menu that includes the master volume. Slide the indicator left to lower the volume and right to raise the volume. This setting affects all of the various types of non-alarm sounds equally.
There is another way to adjust the volume setting on the Qolsys IQ Panel 4. Individual settings for Voice, Beeps and Chime, Media, and Doorbell, if a compatible video doorbell is attached to the account, and the option to send doorbell alerts to the panel is enabled. You can see how to access these settings in the video and in the FAQ linked at the bottom of this description.
Each of the different sound types has a volume slider. Each of these settings can be adjusted separately, with the master volume setting then controlling the system's overall volume. Again, slide left to lower volume and right to raise volume. After each change, the panel will make a sound so that you can hear the current setting.
Once the volume settings have been changed to your liking, you can press the house icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the panel's home screen. The changes you've made will be saved automatically.

In order to register your system, you'll need to retrieve the IMEI number. If the panel is not yet mounted to a wall, you can look at the sticker on the rear of the panel to retrieve the IMEI number. Otherwise, you can obtain this information through the panel itself. Tap the gray bar located above the date and time on the panel. Then tap Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default, respectively) then tap About, then Cellular. The IMEI will be listed there along with some other information.
Once the panel is registered, you can download the Alarm.com app from the Apple App Store. Your alarm dealer will use your email address to create your account and usually the email address is used as the Alarm.com username. You will receive a welcome email that allows you to create your own password. Once you have that information, you're ready to log into Alarm.com and interact with your system.
The remainder of the video is used to show you around the Alarm.com app. Dylan explains how to create a scene for the automation of devices. He also shows you how to arm and disarm through the app and how to add a new user. He demonstrates the use of these features several times throughout the video.

Before you can add the keypad needed to use proximity tags, you must learn the PG9WLSHW8 wired-to-wireless converter module to the panel. Before enrolling the module, all zones, sirens, and PGM devices should be connected. The module enrolls just like any other wireless zone and can be auto-enrolled by pressing the Enroll Button, located on the module board. The Sensor Type should be set to Wireless Translator.
Once you have the PG9WLSHW8 module enrolled into a zone, you can then add the keypad. Go to Menu - Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer Code (1111 by default) - Installation - Devices - Add Device. This allows you to manually add the keypad. Enter the PG9WLSHW8 converter module serial number in the Sensor DL ID section. This can be found on a sticker on the module. The hardwire input will automatically show CORBUS, if not, be sure CORBUS is selected. Module Type should be set to Keypad.
The Sensor ESN can be found on the box that the hardwired keypad came in. Below the model number, you'll see SN: with an 8-character alphanumeric sequence. Enter this in the Sensor ESN field. Sensor Group tells the system if this is a fixed (wired) keypad, or a wireless one, and what type of keypad panic you want to enable. We choose Sensor Group 0 - Fixed Intrusion. This means a keypad panic will cause an intrusion alarm sound and report. You have further options to enable/disable keypad tamper, enable/disable voice prompts, keypad backlight on/off, and you can customize the keypad Sensor Name. "Source" should automatically be set to PowerG. Once all settings have been correctly selected, press Add New.
Now you can begin adding proximity tags. You do this through user code programming. From the Home screen press the gray menu bar at the top, then Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer, Dealer, or Master Code (1111, 2222, or 1234 respectively, by default) - User Management. Once in User Management, tap "Add Prox Tag." If you don't see the option to "Add Prox Tag" it could be that your panel needs a Firmware Update. The panel must be on Firmware 4.1.0+. This can also be caused by the panel not seeing the hardware required to support proximity tags.
After pressing "Add Prox Tag" immediately scan the proximity tag you want to program. Each keypad that supports proximity tags will come with a tag. You can buy additional tags separately. To scan the tag, place it against the "bullseye" shaped icon on the keypad. The panel will indicate that it has learned a new tag. Press "OK" to accept the enrollment. You can give the tag a familiar name, but by default, each tag will be named in ascending order, starting with Proximity Tag 1.
Each proximity tag must be assigned to a user code for event logging and reporting purposes. You can choose an existing user code, or you can add a new code from within the proximity tag programming dialog. If you need to add a new user code, select "Add New Code" from the drop-down menu. Provide a First Name, Last Name, and a 4-digit code (depending on panel programming, this could be a 6-digit code). Reenter the code to confirm it and choose a User Type (Master, User, or Guest). When you've filled out all the information, press "Add User."
This will return you to the "Add Prox Tag" screen. You must hit the drop-down menu again, select the user you just created, and finally, hit "Add Prox Tag" one final time. You have now successfully added the proximity tag, and you're ready to test it. Press the Home icon at the bottom of the panel screen. Now, if you present the proximity tag to the keypad, the armed status of the panel will be toggled. This means if the system is disarmed, it will now arm. If the system is armed, it will be disarmed when the proximity tag is presented.

The replacement battery for the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 is the Qolsys QR0083-840. To replace the battery, first, you should properly power down the panel. This is done through the panel screen, not using the power button. Navigate by pressing the gray bar at the top of the panel screen, then choosing Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer, Dealer, or Master Code (1111, 2222, or 1234 by default, respectively) then tap Power Down. Wait for all LEDs to turn off and the screen to go dark. When that happens, the panel is powered down.
Remove the panel's back plate. Whether your panel is wall-mounted or desk mounted, you need to loosen the set screw in the bottom edge of the panel. Although Dylan removes the screw completely, you don't have to do this. Just back the screw out far enough so that you can pull the panel free of the back plate.
From there, pull the panel and back plate apart by first separating it at the bottom edge of the back plate, and then either pulling the back plate down, or lifting the panel up and away. Lay the panel face down on a flat surface, preferably a soft surface that won't scratch or otherwise damage the screen. Disconnect the panel's power, either by unplugging the barrel connector in the back of the panel or, preferably by unplugging the DC power adapter from the wall.
Locate the battery in the lower-left side of the visible compartment. Disconnect the wiring harness. It may be snug. Resist the urge to pull on the cable (as Dylan does in the video). Instead, you can use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry the battery connector loose from the battery port. Now remove the battery from its location. The wire will be routed through a cutout in the battery bracket. Carefully remove it.
Insert the new battery's harness through that same cutout, then slide the battery into place, making sure it's turned so that you have the most available slack in the battery wire. Plug the battery connector into the port, noting that it is keyed, so it will only go in one way. Reconnect power. This will usually begin the bootup process. Reconnect the panel with its back plate and tighten the set screw in the bottom edge. If the panel does not boot up on its own, hold down the power button on the right panel edge for three (3) seconds.
Once the panel boots completely, navigate to the tests screen and run the panel test. Do this by tapping the gray bar at the top of the panel screen, then going to Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer, Dealer or Master Code (1111, 2222, or 1234 by default) then tap System Tests, then Panel Tests. In this section, you can choose to "Run All" or simply tap "Run" next to the option for Battery. If the battery is good, tap the Home Icon at the bottom of the screen to exit Advanced Settings. If not, wait a few hours then run the test again. Sometimes a new battery will need to charge for a bit before it can support the panel load.

Physically install the lock following the instructions provided with it, or by following the steps outlined in our FAQ linked below. Once the lock is installed, wait to power it up until you're ready to pair it with the IQ Panel 4.
The panel must be on firmware version 4.4.0 or higher to support the IQ Lock-PG. You can check the version by tapping the gray bar at the top of the panel screen then tapping Settings, Advanced Settings, enter the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 respectively, by default) then tapping About, then Software. If your panel is not up-to-date, you can check out the link the our FAQ (linked below) for instructions on how to update.
Once the panel is on a high enough version, to pair the lock tap the gray bar at the top of the panel screen, then Settings, Advanced Settings, enter the Installer or Dealer Code (provided above). Then tap Installation, then Devices, Automation, and finally Auto Learn Devices. The panel will begin listening for devices to auto-enroll. Now, power on the lock. It will go through the handing process (to determine whether it is on a right or left facing door) and will attempt to pair with the panel.
When the lock's DL ID pops up (you can verify it with the sticker on the lock itself) press "OK" then configure the lock settings. Dylan shows you all the settings in the video. One of the most important is the Pin Code. Usually, it's fine to leave this field blank. However, if you are pairing multiple IQ Lock-PG devices with the panel, you can note each lock's PIN (also located on the sticker with the DL ID) and enter that PIN as you program the lock. Just be careful when entering. If you make a mistake, it will appear that the lock has learned into the panel, but it will not work.
Once the lock is paired and configured, test it to be sure it's working with the panel. Then, you can log into the Alarm.com app and assign users access to the lock. Doing this will push the user's codes to the lock and allow them to manually unlock the lock using the push buttons on the lock itself when necessary. Once you access the user code, and give it lock access, wait for a sync to occur between Alarm.com and the panel. Once that's done, the code can be used at the lock.

You can use the DSC HS2LCDWF9 (preferred) or the WS9LCDWF9 if you want a wireless push-button keypad. The latter keypad has had issues working with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4. It will sometimes learn into the panel fine, but then stop working at a later time. If a wireless push-button keypad is needed, be sure to choose the HS2LCDWF9 when possible. A future firmware update may solve these issues and if so, it will be noted in the firmware release notes.
If you plan to use a DSC PG9WLSHW8 or DSC PGHRDW8, then you can also use hardwired DSC keypads with the system. These keypads will wire to the converter module, then communicate wirelessly between the converter module and the IQ Panel 4. The keypads that are compatible to be used this way are the HS2LCD, HS2ICN, HS2LCDP, and HS2ICNP. The HS2LCDP and the HS2ICNP both support the use of proximity tags. This adds another layer of arming and disarming ease. The user simply swipes the tiny proximity tag across the keypad to arm or disarm the system. No need to memorize a user code.

The first step is powering down the panel. Be sure to use the menu to do so. Tap the gray bar at the top of the panel screen then Settings, Advanced Settings, Enter Installer, Master, or Dealer Code (1111, 1234, or 2222 respectively, by default) then tap Power Down. Once the screen and all LEDs go dark, the system is powered down.
It is still recommended to unplug the power adapter and the battery. Unplug the power adapter from the outlet. Loosen the set screw in the bottom edge of the panel and then remove the back plate. If the panel is wall-mounted, pull the bottom edge forward then raise the panel straight up and off the mounting plate. If the panel has a desk mount, you'll be able to see how to remove the back plate. Once it's removed, unplug the battery as well.
The Zigbee card slot is located between the cellular communicator and the Legacy SRF card. Be sure to line the male connector on the back of the Zigbee card up with the female slot on the main panel, then push it straight down. The screw hole in the bottom corner of the Zigbee card should line up with the female screw receptacle on the main panel board. Install the set screw to hold the daughter card in place.
Plug in the battery, reinstall the panel on the back plate, tighten the panel's set screw, then plug in the panel's power adapter. This will usually begin the bootup process. If it does not begin to boot on its own, press the power button, on the right edge of the panel (as you face the touchscreen) and hold it for three (3) seconds, then release it. Allow the panel to boot up.
Once the panel boots, tap the gray menu bar at the top of the screen, then Settings, Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 respectively, by default.) Tap System Tests, then Daughter Card Tests. In the lower right, you should see Zigbee with an option to Run. If you don't see this option, the card is not installed properly and you'll need to begin again. In this video, the card wasn't properly lined up with the connector when we first installed it. After fixing it, Dylan ran the Zigbee daughter card test successfully. Proper card/connector alignment is important.

A sound at an 85 dB measurement is about as loud as a semi-truck traveling 40 MPH heard at a distance of 50' (15m). It's loud enough to startle and deter a burglar, but it is not loud enough to damage hearing, as long as exposure is not for too long or too often. For louder options, there are a number of options available.
The Qolsys IQ Siren is a Z-Wave siren that plugs into a standard outlet. It has its own backup battery that charges when AC is present, but if AC power is lost, then the battery can power the siren. It has a rating of 105 dB. Because the decibel scale is logarithmic, each 10 dB increase in sound is ten times as loud as the previous rating. So 95 dB is ten times as loud as 85 dB and 105 dB is 100 times as loud as 85 dB (10 x 10).
If you plan to add a wired-to-wireless converter module you may have additional options for adding wired sirens. The DSC PowerG wired to wireless converter modules support a siren and provide up to 700 mA of current. In this video, we show you a blue strobe light that has been activated by a DSC PG9WLSHW8 converter module that is programmed with the IQ Panel 4.
If 700 mA of current isn't sufficient, then a relay and a power supply can be added. Likewise, the Qolsys Hardwire 16-F can also add support for a wired siren, though it provides only 500 mA of current. But again, if that is insufficient, a relay and a power supply can be added.

Some of the reasons to power down the IQ Panel 4 include when adding hardware, such as a Zigbee daughter card. Also, when replacing a worn-out battery you should properly power down the panel before removing and replacing the old battery. Finally, as a part of troubleshooting, you may be instructed to power the panel down and back up. There is a reboot option within the menu, but at times, it is best to power down completely and then power back on.
To power the panel down, tap the gray bar at the top of the screen, then go to Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer, Dealer, or Master Code. They are 1111, 2222, or 1234 respectively, by default. After entering the code, tap "Power Down." When the screen goes dark and all LEDs turn off the system is powered down.
If you're installing hardware, such as a daughter card, we recommend you unplug the battery and the power cable after you power the panel down through the menu. Once this is done, perform the installation. Reconnect the battery and then the power adapter (in that order). If the panel doesn't automatically begin to boot up, press and hold the power button for three (3) seconds. The LEDs will light and within a few seconds, the screen will light up and the panel will boot up.

If you happen to have had your keypad connected using WIFI in the past, you should go through the process of forgetting the previous network. This will prevent the keypad from seeing the old network and attempting to connect to it. To do this, press the WIFI Networks option on the PROWLTOUCH, then go to Connected Networks. Highlight the previous network and then tap the "Forget" button in the upper right. Once the network has been forgotten, you can tap the left arrow at the upper left to return to the previous screen.
On the PROA7 or PROA7PLUS panel, tap the Menu (≡) icon at the bottom of the screen, then scroll down to Tools - Enter the Master Code (1234 is default) - WIFI Touchscreen Enrollment. Alternatively, you can tap Menu (≡) - Tools - Enter Installer Code (4112 is default) - Programming - Peripherals - Add WIFI Touchscreen. Either method will get you to the correct screen.
On the screen, you'll be shown the panel's SSID and Password. Write this information down, or take a picture. Unless your panel and keypad are beside each other, and you can see the panel from the keypad. On the PROWLTOUCH, tap on WIFI Networks and the SSID for the panel should come up momentarily. You can hit the refresh button in the upper right to speed up the process. Select the panel's SSID from the list of available networks. You'll be taken to a screen to enter the password. Enter the password exactly as shown on the main panel. "Save", then press "Connect" in the upper right.
On the keypad, you'll see a message that shows that the keypad has connected to the network. Then a message that shows that the keypad is acquiring the panel's IP address. Finally, you'll be asked by the PROWLTOUCH to enter the Installer or Master Code (4112 or 1234 respectively, by default). This is the final step in connecting the keypad to the main panel. You'll see a message "Connected to control." Press "OK" then exit programming on the main panel. Once the panel exits programming, the keypad will show the current panel status. You can now arm, disarm, control automation devices, and much more. The wireless range for Access Point Mode is approximately 75' (22.8m).

Since the communicator or communicators are powered down, this means that you won't be able to connect to the system for remote control through Total Connect 2.0. However, if the panel needs to report a signal to the monitoring station, the communicator(s) will power on long enough to do so, and then they will power back down until AC power is restored or until another signal must be sent.
In addition to the screen going dark, the panel will provide a single beep every 30 seconds, basically saying, "Look at me!" If you acknowledge the AC Loss, the beeping will stop. The panel has a feature called Quiet Time which is always enabled and spans from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. If the power loss occurs during this time, it will not beep. There are some other trouble sounds that are also suppressed during this time. If the condition continues beyond 8:00 AM, it will begin beeping at that time.
One very important note is that the panel will randomize the AC Loss report to the monitoring station and Total Connect 2.0 with an up to four (4) hour delay. If power is restored before this report is sent, then it is NEVER sent, nor will the Restore Report be sent. For this reason, it is important to be able to check the event log of the panel to verify if a power failure has occurred.
To check the event log, tap the menu icon at the bottom of the main screen, then scroll down to Events. Enter your Master Code (default is 1234) and then you can scroll through events from newest to oldest. Although the AC Loss Report is randomized, it will be logged to the panel's event log as soon as it is displayed on the panel's screen.
Once AC power is restored, the message will clear on its own without you having to enter a code to clear it. This is another reason it is important to be able to check the Event Log to verify whether a power failure has occurred. For example, say you're away from home, and you attempt to connect to your panel through Total Connect 2.0, but you can't. When you get home, everything looks normal on the system. However, unbeknownst to you, while you were away, there was a 1.5-hour power failure. The power was restored before the panel reported the AC Loss or sent you a notification via Total Connect 2.0. When the power was restored, the AC Loss message cleared from the display automatically. Unless you check the Event Log, you will not know that the reason you weren't able to connect to your system was because of a temporary power failure.

When the PROSIXLCDKP powers up, it will automatically begin trying to pair with a panel, assuming it's not already paired. For this reason, it's best to begin the pairing process at the panel before powering on the PROSIXLCDKP. At the panel, tap the menu icon at the bottom middle of the screen (three horizontal lines) then scroll down to Tools, enter the Installer Code (4112 by default) then Programming, then Peripherals. Press the Add icon (+) in the upper right. Now you're ready to power on the keypad.
The PROSIXLCDKP comes with a wall mount, and a desk mount kit can be purchased separately. Wire the positive and negative wires from the DC power adapter to the screw terminals on the mounting plate. Plug in the provided backup battery, then mount the keypad to the base. When you're ready to power it on, plug in the DC power adapter. The keypad will power up and begin trying to pair.
The keypad uses the PROSIX encrypted wireless protocol to communicate with the panel. It learns in just like any PROSIX zone, and is supervised with a zone number in the 800 range. The first auxiliary keypad will learn in as zone 800, the second as zone 801, and so on. PROSIXLCDKPs are always supervised with a 15-minute supervision interval. This means if the keypad doesn't communicate with the panel for 15 straight minutes, it will show a check on the corresponding supervision zone. Also, like a zone, during programming, you can enter a description for the keypad zone, such as Front Door, Back Door, etc.
Powering the PROWLTOUCH wireless touchscreen keypad involves installing the provided backup battery and then either plugging in the provided DC power adapter directly to the keypad or mounting the keypad on either the wall-mounting base or the desk mounting base. If either mounting base is used, the provided DC power adapter plugs into the base, and then the base keeps the keypad powered on and charging. The benefit of using the base is that the PROWLTOUCH can easily be lifted off for mobile use and then when it's remounted, it will again run off of the power supply and charge the backup battery.
The PROA7 and PROA7PLUS panels can support using the PROWLTOUCH in Access Point Mode as long as they are on the latest panel version. Access Point Mode is helpful in situations where there is no WIFI available in the protected premises, but an auxiliary keypad is still needed. For most users, though, the PROWLTOUCH will be used over WIFI. This means that the panel and the keypad must both be connected to the same WIFI network.
When the PROWLTOUCH boots up, it's going to come to the WIFI network setup screen. If you click on the "WIFI Networks" option, the keypad will scan for available networks and bring up a list. Be sure to pair the keypad with the same network the panel is paired with. Once the keypad joins the WIFI network, it will begin looking for the panel on that network.
At the panel, assuming it's already connected to WIFI, you'll go to Menu (three horizontal lines at the bottom-center), then Tools, enter the Installer Code (4112 is the default) then Programming, and finally Peripherals. Click the Add icon (+) at the upper right, then tap "Add WIFI Touchscreen". At this point, the PROWLTOUCH should still be attempting to pair with the panel. It will acquire the panel's IP address, then signal success on the secondary keypad. You'll then be prompted to enter either the Installer Code (4112 is default) or Master Code (1234 is default) on the PROWLTOUCH. Once you enter a valid code, the keypad will prepare to display panel status.
At the panel, you have similar options for the PROWLTOUCH that you have with the PROSIXLCDKP. It can be supervised, and if you choose to supervise it, it will be assigned to another of the zones in the 800 range. Supervision for this keypad is optional, but it is enabled by default. The Supervision interval for PROWLTOUCH keypads is 24 Hours and cannot be changed. that means if the panel doesn't hear from one of these keypads for 24 Hours, and supervision is enabled, it will display a check along with the supervision zone number. You can also change the zone description so that you'll know which keypad this is if you have multiple keypads.

It's hard to talk about cellular monitoring without talking about the panel's WIFI capabilities because the two work together seamlessly. Only a cellular connection is required for monitoring, but to download firmware updates for the panel over the air, you MUST have a WIFI connection. This is why we always recommend connecting the panel to WIFI when it's available.
When the panel has both WIFI and cellular paths available, it sends each signal using both paths. The Alarm.com server knows that the same signal is potentially being sent using multiple paths, so it processes whichever signal is received first, and discards the duplicate signal. In this way, each individual signal uses the fastest available path to reach the server.

You need to download the Qolsys IQ Installer Interface App from the iOS App Store or Android Google Play Store before you begin. When you launch the app, you'll have to agree to the EULA Terms and Conditions. Once you do, when you press Start you'll be prompted to either manually enter the panel Serial Number and IMEI number, or to use your device's camera and scan the QR code located on the back of the panel. Once the information has been obtained by the app, you'll be provided with instructions through the app.
Press the power button on the panel twice rapidly to put the panel into pairing mode with the app. Follow the app's onscreen instructions to pair with the panel and to connect it to WIFI. Once that's done, the app will go through a system test of the IQ4 NS and the results of that test will be displayed in the app. To skip ahead, you can press the right arrow at the top right of the app screen.
The first programming option after the system tests have been completed is zone programming. Follow the on-screen prompts provided by the app to complete the addition of zones. When a sensor has been learned in, but the configuration screen has not yet been accessed, that zone will show up as "not-configured". Be sure to go through each zone and choose a proper response type and zone name, along with any other customization that may be required for that sensor. Always be sure to press "Save" when done. When all zones have been configured, press the "Stop Autolearn" button, confirm you want to stop, and then use the right arrow at the top right to move to the next option.
Programming Z-Wave devices is the next option. We skip that in this video because we will have a separate video specifically for programming Z-Wave. We also skip the next programming section, which is the addition of IQ Remote keypads. The next programming option is user codes, which Dylan walks you through. It is important to note that the IQ4 NS will not allow you to have duplicate user codes, you can see what happens if you try to do so during Dylan's walk-through.

The battery pack is located on the inside of the door. Slide the battery cover up and away from the lock. Place your thumb and forefinger on either side of the battery pack and lift straight up. Flip the battery pack over to expose the four (4) AA batteries. Remove all existing batteries, and replace them with good-quality replacement batteries. Be sure to observe proper polarity when inserting the fresh batteries. It is easy to mix this up if you're not careful.
Once the batteries have been replaced, flip the battery tray back over and replace it in the appropriate slot on the lock. Replace the battery cover and verify the lock functions.

Using the Dealer Code, you can add/edit/delete any user code in the system. Using the Installer Code, you can add/edit/delete any user code in the system except the Dealer Code (neither the Dealer, the Installer, nor the Master code can be deleted, only edited). Using the Master Code, you can add/edit/delete any code on the system except for the Installer or Dealer Codes.
To edit the Installer Code, tap the gray bar at the top of the IQ Panel 4 screen, then tap Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default) - User Management. Tap the pencil icon to the right of the Installer Code. This brings up the Edit Screen. Erase the existing code, then enter the new code. The SMKT3-345 is an excellent smoke detector made by 2GIG specifically for the 2GIG Go!Control security system. Life-safety devices, for the purposes of this video, consist of smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide sensors. Heat detectors are not technically life-safety sensors, but since they operate and program just like smoke detectors, we often erroneously lump them into this category.
The two main repeaters we support are the Resideo (formerly Honeywell) 5800RP and the DSC PG9920. The 5800RP supports sensors that use the 345 MHz frequency made popular by Honeywell systems. The DSC PG9920 supports DSC and Qolsys PowerG sensors, which use 915 MHz as their frequency. In either case, these repeaters will repeat signals for life-safety devices if the repeater picks up the signal.
A sensor signal can only be repeated one time. So, for example, if you're using a 5800RP with a compatible sensor, that sensor by itself has a transmitting range of about 200 feet in open air. By adding a repeater, you can effectively extend that range to 400 feet. However, you can't then add another repeater beyond the first one and extend the range to 600 feet. A repeater can't repeat a signal that has already been repeated.
The real question comes when you consider agency listings such as UL, ETL, Factory Mutual (FM), and the California State Fire Marshall (CSFM). Any of these agencies may have restrictions in place that would prevent the use of a repeater with a life-safety device, in spite of the fact that the life-safety device may actually benefit from the use of the repeater. In these cases, it is up to the agency having jurisdiction (AHJ) whether you are permitted to use a repeater or not. The documentation for the repeater and the life-safety sensor should have any restrictions for their use outlined in a section specifically devoted to agency restrictions. Please refer to the FAQ linked at the bottom of this description for more information.

The Awareness Response Type is only active when the system is armed. It is active in both Away and Stay arming modes, and it does observe Exit Delay, meaning it is not active until the Exit Delay time has expired. The 24 HR Awareness Response Type is active regardless of whether the alarm system is armed or disarmed.
To program a zone for either of the Awareness zone types, enter programming by pressing the Menu icon, then scrolling down to Tools, then entering the Installer Code (Default is 4112), then choosing Programming and then Peripherals. From here, you can either choose to add (+) a new zone, or you can choose to edit an existing zone. Choose either Awareness or 24 HR Awareness as the Response Type, choose a sound option (Chime, Continuous Trouble Beeps, or Alarm), and whether you want the zone to be supervised, then once all other zone programming parameters have been configured, tap "Save" in the upper right.
Once programmed, when an Awareness Zone is active and becomes faulted, a blue banner will pop up on the panel's main screen, showing the descriptor for the zone. When you press the banner, you're prompted for a valid code. The code used must be a Master or secondary User Code and not the Installer Code. After entering the code, you're taken to a screen where you can see any active awareness zone notifications. To acknowledge and clear the blue banner, you must press the word Acknowledge (or Acknowledge All) at the top right, and again enter a valid code. Once you acknowledge all alerts, the blue banner is removed from the main security screen.

Once the lock is set up and working through the Schlage Home App, log into Alarm.com using either the app or the website. From the Alarm.com app, choose More in the bottom right, then tap on +Add Device. Choose to add a lock. If you don't see the option to add a lock, contact your alarm dealer and ask them to enable locks in your account's automation settings. From the list of available locks, choose the Schlage Encode. Press "Next" and when prompted, enter your Schlage Home login credentials. Once Alarm.com connects to your Schlage Home account, it will discover all available locks. Once that's done, press "Continue" and if you're finished adding devices, then press "Done" in the upper right.
To add the lock via the website, log into your Alarm.com account, then go to "Settings", then "Manage Devices". In the upper right, click on "Add Device". Choose "Lock", and if you don't see the lock option, contact your alarm dealer and ask them to enable locks for your account. From the list of available locks, choose "Schlage Encode". When prompted, enter your Schlage Home Username and Password. Alarm.com will log in, then discover all available locks and bring them into the Alarm.com app. They can be controlled manually and can also be included in scenes and rules.

First of all, a PROA7 or PROA7PLUS requires the addition of a PROTAKEOVER module in order to support either 5800 Series or 2GIG legacy sensors. Second of all, each PROTAKEOVER can only support one or the other of these sensors, not both. This means, if you have an existing Lyric panel with both 2GIG and Honeywell 345 MHz sensors enrolled, you'll have to choose whether you want to keep the 2GIG or the Honeywell sensors when moving to the PROA7 or PROA7PLUS.
For any SiX Series sensors you may have on an existing Lyric, those sensors will learn into a PROA7 or PROA7PLUS panel, and will be upgraded to a PROSIX device. Once this happens, the sensor will never work with the Lyric panel again.
To install the PROTAKEOVER module, be sure to set the dial to the correct number corresponding to the frequency of the legacy sensors you plan to use. Then power the panel down, turn it over, and remove the right side rear cover. Insert the PROTAKEOVER all the way into the mounting slot. Install the set screw, if desired, then replace the side cover. Power the system up and remount, if necessary.
The panel is now ready to listen for SiX, PROSIX, and legacy sensors based on the PROTAKEOVER dial setting. Follow the steps for programming sensors into the panel. As you learn each sensor, you'll see whether it's a 5800 or PROTAKEOVER sensor, or a PROSIX sensor.

To verify that the panel is on a firmware version that supports HomeKit, you can go to: Menu, scroll down to Tools, Enter Installer Code (4112 is default), Programming, Advanced Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and ensure the "Enable HomeKit" line item is toggled on. Use the back arrow at the upper left of the screen to back out of programming. If you don't see the option to Enable HomeKit, you need to firmware update the panel. If you're not sure how to do that, contact your alarm dealer.
Next, we recommend that you reset HomeKit. Even if you haven't used it before with the panel. This will help to prevent possible issues moving forward. From the home screen, click the Menu icon, then scroll down to Settings, Apple HomeKit, then enter the Installer Code or Master Code (default is 1234). Tap "Reset HomeKit" then tap "Continue." Once the reset is complete, you'll remain on the Apple HomeKit screen of the panel.
Begin the pairing process on the iOS device you'll be using. From within the Home app, tap "+ Add Accessory". On the panel, tap "Pair Controller to HomeKit". The panel will produce a QR code. Scan this using the camera on your iOS device. Once the QR code has been scanned, the iOS device will walk you through adding the panel and each compatible zone (life-safety zones are not compatible with HomeKit and will not show up.) You can edit device names and choose appropriate icons for each device within HomeKit. Once you're finished, click "Done" on the iOS device. You're now ready to begin using your PROA7 or PROA7PLUS with HomeKit.

The first set of zones that can be used with the 4219 is zones 9 - 16. When using a 4219 for this group of zones, the address for the 4219, as determined by the dip switches, must be set to seven (7). For zones 17 - 24, the dip switches must be set to address eight (8). For Zones 25 - 32, the dip switches must be set to address nine (9). For Zones 33 - 40, the module uses address ten (10), and for zones 41 - 48 it uses address eleven (11). Also, note that the VISTA-15P panel can only support up to two (2) of these modules using zones 9 - 16 and 17 - 24 and the corresponding addresses for those two sets of zones.
The 4219 has been around for many years. There have been a couple of different variations to the module over the years. Older modules may only have five (5) dip switches. These modules used a 1kΩ resistor and the use of the resistor was mandatory. They also had a jumper that enabled or disabled the tamper switch, as opposed to a dip switch. Regardless of which module version you may have, the address settings will all be the same, and will use the same dip switch numbers.
In this video, the module is shown with the dip switches upside down. You may notice what looks like the word NO on the lower right side of the dip switch block. This is actually the word ON, and shows that when the dip switch handle is placed toward this side of the block, it is ON. Armed with that information, you can properly set the dip switches for your configuration.
When changing the dip switch settings, it is best to power the unit down, change the switch settings, and then power it back on. You'll need a small screwdriver, or a fingernail to change the position of the dip switches.
Dip switch 1 determines the response time for the first zone on the 4219. When the dip switch is set to ON, the first zone will have a normal response time of 300ms. If the dip switch is set to OFF, the first zone will have a fast response time of 10ms. A fast response time is required for certain sensors, such as inertia-style shock sensors. In most applications, dip switch 1 can be set to ON.
Dip switches 2 - 5 determine the module address. Please refer to the FAQ linked at the bottom of this description for a full explanation of each address setting. Also, please note that on newer 4219s there is an LED that is ON when the address is set to seven (7) and is OFF when the address is set to eight (8). Whether the LED is lit or not is determined by dip switch 2. This LED can let you know that the 4219 has power, but otherwise, it doesn't really indicate anything other than the dip switch 2 setting. If dip switch 2 is ON, the LED is OFF. This is as designed.
Dip Switch 6 should always be ON for VISTA-15P, VISTA-20P, and VISTA-21iP or VISTA-21iPLTE panels.
Dip Switch 7 determines if the module will use End-of-Line Resistors (EOLR) or not. ON = No EOLR, OFF = 2kΩ EOLR required for each zone. With this, it's all zones use resistors, or no zones use them.
Dip Switch 8 determines if the cover tamper is enabled or disabled. Dip switch 8 ON = Tamper Disabled. Dip Switch 8 OFF = Tamper Enabled. If the 4219 is to be mounted inside the metal enclosure with the panel, then you can install it without the plastic cover and the tamper should be disabled. If the 4219 is mounted outside the metal enclosure where it may be vulnerable to tampering, then you want to be sure to insert the magnet in the cover and use the cover for the 4219 with the tamper feature enabled.

Though connecting a panel to WIFI is optional, the cellular communication path is mandatory for any type of monitoring. To register the IQ Panel 4, users must provide the cellular IMEI number. This number links the system to an account at Alarm.com and, if monitoring is activated, to the central monitoring station. The IQ Panel 4 offers AT&T or Verizon cellular versions in the US, and a Telus version is available in Canada.
Another important thing to remember is that firmware updates are only provided to the IQ Panel 4 over-the-air (OTA) when the panel is connected to WIFI. So, if a WIFI connection is available, it is recommended that you connect the panel to it. This way, any critical updates can be pushed automatically, and all other updates can be requested either through the panel touchscreen or by the alarm dealer through Alarm.com.
To locate the IMEI number for the panel, tap the gray bar at the top of the home screen. Next, tap Settings, followed by Advanced Settings. Enter the Dealer, Installer, or Master Code (2222, 1111, or 1234, respectively, by default), then select About and Cellular. The IMEI number will be displayed at the bottom of this section. Additionally, you can find this number on a sticker on the back of the alarm panel's back plate.

The Master Code, also known as Admin in User Management, can modify itself and manage secondary user codes, adding, editing, or deleting them as necessary. Even though any added user code can be given Master authority level, User 1 is the actual System Admin and has the unique ability to edit the Admin User, as do the Installer and Dealer.
To initiate the change of the Master Code, start by tapping the Menu icon located at the top of the screen (gray bar). Following this, navigate through Settings and then Advanced Settings. Here, input either the Dealer, Installer, or existing Master Code (defaults provided above). Subsequently, select User Management.
The view within User Management will vary depending on the code used for access. However, in every scenario, you should identify User ID 1, named Admin, with a Type of Master. Select the pencil icon adjacent to this code to access the edit screen.
Editing the name is straightforward—tap the current entry, use the backspace button to erase it, and input the desired name. Proceed by tapping the green arrow on the keypad screen, leading you to the user code entry. Here, erase the existing entry and input the new one. Confirm the new code by re-entering it in the designated slot, ensuring both entries match before saving. To return to the main screen, simply press the Home icon at the bottom.
After successfully changing the Master Code, it is crucial to test it to ensure its functionality. If your testing involves triggering an alarm, remember to inform the monitoring station and set your system to test mode to prevent unintended dispatch.

In this video, Dylan from Alarm Grid discusses using IP Monitoring with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4. A WIFI communicator is built into the IQ Panel 4, and the WIFI connection can be used for monitoring. However, the IQ Panel 4 requires that a cellular monitoring path be enabled. Therefore, this panel cannot use IP Monitoring alone. For Alarm Grid customers, this means a Gold Plan, or higher, is required when remote services are to be used.
When an IQ Panel 4 has both cellular and WIFI communication paths enabled and available, it's called dual-path monitoring. Giving the panel every opportunity to communicate is a smart choice, especially since most buildings will have WIFI available. In the event the cellular path becomes unavailable, the panel can still send signals using the WIFI path. And if the WIFI path becomes unavailable, then the cellular path can be used. Rarely will both communication paths be unavailable at the same time.
When both communication paths are available, IQ Panel 4 will send every signal using both paths. The signal received first by the Alarm.com server is processed, and the slower communication path's signal is discarded. This guarantees that each individual signal is sent using the fastest available communication path.
Another important note is that the IQ Panel 4 can only receive OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware updates if it has a connection to WIFI. So, when a WIFI connection is available, it is strongly recommended that the panel use it. This way, critical updates can be sent automatically when needed, and other firmware updates can be requested manually either through the panel, or by the alarm dealer through Alarm.com.

If the Panel Glass Break feature is enabled, then the Ambient Noise feature is disabled. If you disable the Panel Glass Break feature, you can enable the Ambient Noise Level feature, and then set an acceptable ambient noise level. If the panel hears the ambient noise exceeding that level, it will sound an alert.

To connect to WIFI, tap the gray bar at the top of the screen, then choose settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer, Dealer, or Master Code. These codes are 1111, 2222, or 1234 by default. Next, tap the WIFI menu option. At the top of this screen, there is an Activate WIFI option with a check box to the right. This option should be enabled by default, but if it is not enabled, you must check the box. Otherwise, no WIFI networks will load.
Choose your WIFI network SSID from the list of available networks. Enter the case-sensitive password for your network and then click Connect. If you have entered the password correctly, you will then be connected to WIFI. Your SSID should be shown with the word "connected" beneath it. Press the Home icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.
You can test your WIFI connection in two (2) ways. Press the gray bar at the top of the Home Screen. Tap Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer, Dealer, or Master Code, then click on System Tests. If you choose WIFI Test you can run a test that confirms the panel's connection to your router. If you would like to confirm that the panel is able to connect all the way to Alarm.com, then you should choose the Dual-Path WIFI Test instead. Again, once you are finished, you can press the Home icon at the bottom of the screen to go back to the Home Screen.

DIYers can also use this feature to simplify Z-Wave device installation. In order to support SmartStart, the Z-Wave device must support S2 security. That means that the device will be a Z-Wave Plus or higher version product. Devices that support SmartStart will have a QR code on their packaging and should indicate support for the SmartStart feature.
To enroll a Z-Wave device with the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 using SmartStart begin by tapping the gray bar at the top of the panel screen. Select Settings then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 respectively, by default). Next choose Installation, then Devices, then Z-Wave Devices, and finally SmartStart.
This will bring up a screen showing the view from the panel's front-facing camera and a number pad. You can either scan the QR Code from the packaging, or from the device itself. Alternatively, you can enter the 40-character DSK code shown on the box. Once the QR code has been picked up by the panel's camera, or the DSK code has been entered, basic information about the device will be shown on the screen. You can edit the device name by tapping the generic name provided and either choosing from the list, or choosing Custom Description and entering whatever you want. Once that's done, press Add.
This takes you to the provisioning list. This is a list of all Z-Wave devices being added using SmartStart and their current status. A status of Not in Network means that the QR Code or DSK has been entered, but the panel has not yet heard from that device. Now, install and/or power on the device. The panel will communicate with it, and will add it to the Z-Wave network. This will change the status in the provisioning list screen to Started, and eventually to Included. At this point, the device has been successfully added to the network and is ready to be used through the panel, and Alarm.com, if the panel is tied to an account with support for Automation.

To find the IMEI number within programming tap the gray bar at the top of the panel screen then tap Settings, then Advanced Settings. When prompted for a code enter either the Installer or the Dealer Code. They are 1111 or 2222 respectively, by default. Once you've entered Advanced Settings tap About.
Within the About screen, select Cellular then scroll down until you see the IMEI number. It is very important to get this number exactly right if you are relaying it to your alarm dealer. It may be a good idea to take a picture of it with your phone or tablet. This also allows you to blow it up, as the number is shown quite small on the panel screen.
To exit back to the home screen, tap the House icon at the bottom of the page. Once your panel is registered, you can begin to take full advantage of all its amazing features!

To exclude the device, click the gray menu bar icon, then go to Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer or Dealer Code. go to Installation, Devices, Z-Wave Devices, Clear Device. The system will prompt you to activate the device. Activate the device for exclusion. This may be the same process as for inclusion, or it may differ slightly. Be sure to check the documentation for the Z-Wave device to find out. The panel will let you know that it has successfully excluded a device. Press Ok.
Next, select Add Device, then press Include. The screen will indicate that the panel is listening for new devices and instruct you to press Learn or Include Button to add a device. Follow the instructions for the device to be included. The panel will indicate that a new device has been added and it will show you the type of device, and the node number, and will ask you to wait while additional details are retrieved. Finally, the device screen will come up showing you the information. On this screen, you can highlight the generic name provided and enter a detailed name. In our case, the name provided is Light. You could change that to Living Room Lamp, for example. Click Add to finalize the inclusion process.
If you need to include additional devices, click Include again and go through the process once more. When you have finished adding devices, click the Home icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the Home screen. To control your Z-Wave devices, swipe left or right until you reach the screen that shows the devices being controlled. Follow the onscreen prompts to control your device.

Before you can enable this feature in your IQ Panel 4, you must have an Alarm.com account set up through a dealer. You will need a plan that supports Pro Video. To support the 2-way audio feature, the dealer must also enable the "Audio for non-doorbell cameras" add-on. Once the account has been set up and you can log in and view your cameras through Alarm.com, you're ready to enable Live View on the panel.
NOTE: Use of this feature requires that your IQ Panel 4 has a connection to WIFI.
Log into your Alarm.com account. This video shows enabling Live View from the Alarm.com website, but you can also do so from the customer app. Just log in, click the Security System card from the home page, click the gear icon in the upper right, and tap "Stream Video to Panel." Select the cameras to enable and then tap "Save."
On the webpage, once you have logged in, click on "Video", then "Settings". Scroll down to "Stream Video to Security Panel Screen." A list of available cameras will come up. Check each camera that you want to enable for panel viewing. Once you're finished, be sure to tap on "Save."
Wait a couple of minutes, then at the Qolsys IQ Panel 4, swipe left or right until you get to the "Live Video Cameras" screen. Click the "Play" icon on the thumbnail for the camera that you would like to view. You can now see a live streaming view of that camera on the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 screen.
If you have a camera that supports 2-way audio, you can press the microphone icon to speak through the camera. There is a volume slider that allows you to adjust the volume you receive from the camera. You may also be able to lock or unlock Z-Wave locks from this screen if you have them connected through your panel. To end the session, press the red phone handset icon.

The IQ Panel 4 comes in a variety of versions that we at Alarm Grid call "flavors". Every IQ Panel 4 will support the DSC PowerG 915 MHz sensors. In addition, there is also a version that supports legacy RF at the 345 MHz frequency (Honeywell/2GIG), a version that supports 319.5 MHz sensors (Qolsys and Interlogix/GE), and a version that supports 433 MHz (legacy DSC). There is also a version that supports PowerG only. The panel version you choose will determine which sensors and/or wired-to-wireless converter you use, but they all have the same total zone limit of 128.
For wired-to-wireless conversion, there are a number of options. For the 345 MHz panel, you can use either the Honeywell 5800C2W or the 2GIG Take-345. The 2GIG converter will support up to eight (8) zones and the 5800C2W will support up to nine (9). For Qolsys IQ Panel 4 systems that support 319.5 MHz, you can use the Qolsys Hardwire 16-F. This device can support up to 16 wired zones, including one (1) 2-wire smoke zone. It has power available on the module for powered devices such as motions and glass breaks, and it also has a siren output, just be sure to read all available documentation, and that your panel version supports all features.
Finally, every Qolsys IQ Panel 4 can support the DSC PG9WLSHW8 wired-to-wireless converter module. It can support eight (8) hardwired zones, four (4) programmable outputs, 2-wire or 4-wire smoke detectors, and a 700 mA bell output. It can even allow the IQ Panel 4 to support certain wired keypads.
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 can support up to 128 zones, and a user can use a number of different methods to add those zones. These methods include the use of PowerG wireless sensors, legacy wireless sensors, and a variety of different wired-to-wireless converter modules. Just be sure when using a wireless converter module that you choose the one that is supported by your "flavor" panel.

Another potential cause of a black screen is that the screen is set to timeout, and the photo frame feature is set to OFF. In this case, when the system is inactive for the specified period of time, rather than a series of photos, the screen will go black, to save the display from burn-in. To change this, touch the small grey bar at the top of the home screen. Choose the photo frame option. Next, select settings. Then, search or scroll down to "Display Type". If 'Off' is selected as the option, this is why your screen went black.
Power issues could also cause the display to go black. If the panel loses AC power and the backup battery is either not present, or not charged enough to provide adequate power, the panel will power down and the screen will go black. In this case, the LEDs will not be lit, and touching the screen or the power button will do nothing. If possible, verify power is present at the outlet the panel is using to receive power.
Some panels arrive from the factory with the battery discharged or deep-discharged. In those cases, when power is initially applied to the panel, it may not come on, and pressing and holding the power button may not elicit a response. Qolsys sent a technical notification about this potential issue and how to troubleshoot it. A link to that notification can be found below, along with a link to the FAQ associated with this video.

Qolsys has a list of compatible RF sensors that can be used with each version of its panels. Be sure to refer to this list before attempting to use a sensor with the panel. Any bi-directional wireless Honeywell or 2GIG sensors are not compatible, nor are any encrypted sensors. Refer to the FAQ linked at the bottom of this description for a link to the RF compatibility document. Usually, the reason you'll be using non-Qolsys sensors is that you are replacing an older panel that worked with those sensors, but the sensors still work, so it's less expensive to continue using them rather than buying all new ones.
You may hear these wireless sensors referred to as Ademco, Honeywell, or Resideo sensors. The company name has changed a few times in the past twenty years, but all of these company names refer to the same sensors. To learn a sensor into the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 tap the gray bar at the top of the Home screen then select Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer or Dealer Code (default 1111 or 2222 respectively) - Installation - Devices - Security Devices - Auto Learn Sensor. The system will begin listening for wireless sensors. Fault and restore each device. The system will chime to indicate it has picked up a serial number. From there, you can verify the serial number and program the other aspects of the zone such as the descriptor, sensor group, chime type, and so on. Once the configuration is complete, be sure to click the "Add New" button.
Once all programming is finished, you can press the Home icon at the bottom of the page to return to the Home screen. Be sure to test your newly programmed sensor to be sure it behaves normally. Honeywell 5800 series sensors use loop numbers. This allows a single transmitter and serial number to be used in multiple ways. For example, the 5816 used in this video can use Loop 1, which is accomplished by adding a normally closed wired contact to the two terminals located inside the transmitter. It can also use Loop 2, which is the built-in reed switch.
A magnet is placed close to the reed switch on the outside of the sensor to indicate when a door or window is closed, and the magnet moves away from the reed switch when the door or window is opened. This is how the sensor tells the panel the status of the door or window. This is one reason it is highly recommended that you auto-learn the sensors rather than manually entering their serial numbers. When you learn in the sensor, the loop number transmitted will also be learned. This helps to ensure that the sensor operates as expected. A sensor with the wrong loop number programmed may behave strangely. The most common behavior is that the first time the sensor is faulted, it will never restore, even when the magnet is returned to the normal position.

Self-monitoring means that your system will send you and your designees notifications when your system has an alarm or a trouble condition. It is then up to you to respond to the notification. With Full monitoring, you still get these notifications if you want them, but the system also reports to a central monitoring station. The monitoring station operator will attempt to verify the alarm and will dispatch authorities if necessary.
This video assumes you already have a monitoring plan, that your system has already been registered, and that you have your Alarm.com credentials. Log into the Alarm.com app. On the main screen, you'll see a section for scenes and another section for security. If you have any of the scenes configured with an arming option, you can select the scene from here and the system will run it. A scene can encompass a number of different actions. For example, in a scene, the system may arm, the doors may lock, the lights may dim or turn off, and the thermostat may be set to an energy-saving temperature.
Alternatively, you can tap the security card within the app and you'll then have the options to Arm and Disarm. If the system is already disarmed, you can choose to Arm Away or Arm Stay. Arming Away means that everyone plans to leave the premises and you want all burglary zones to be armed. Arming Stay means that at least one person will stay home. Therefore, you want the system to automatically bypass any zones that are programmed as interior zone types. This prevents the occupant from setting off the system as they move around inside.
Once you choose an arming option, you'll have further options of Silent Arming, No Entry Delay, and Force Arm. By choosing Silent Arming, you will disable the exit delay beeps and the voice announcement regarding the system arming. By choosing No Entry Delay, you're setting the system so that when the exit delay has expired, all zones, even entry/exit zones, will cause an instant alarm when tripped. Force Arming will automatically bypass any burglary zones that are currently faulted so that the system will arm.
On the security screen, you also have the option to manually bypass zones. When you bypass a zone, you give the system permission to ignore that zone. So, even if the zone is open, the alarm system will see it as closed. This is handy for instances such as if you are home, you want to arm the system in the Stay mode, but you'd like to leave a particular window open. You can bypass that window and arm everything else.
Smart arming is also available on the Security screen. This option allows you to set a schedule to disarm the system automatically, and/or to arm the system automatically. This is handy for instances where the last person in each day may be forgetful and fail to arm the system. In this case, smart arming will automatically arm the system before it gets too late. Setting up a smart disarm just before you usually get up in the morning may prevent you from accidentally setting off your system when you open the door to get the paper or let your dog out, and forget to disarm the system first.

The first thing you need to do is retrieve the IMEI number for your Qolsys IQ Panel 4. To do that, tap the gray bar at the top of the screen, then tap Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 respectively, by default) and then tap About. In the About screen, tap cellular and scroll until you see the IMEI number. This number is what your alarm dealer will use to register your system with the proper account information at Alarm.com and the central station, where applicable.
To sign up for monitoring with Alarm Grid, go to www.alarmgrid.com/monitoring. For a Qolsys IQ Panel 4, a monitoring plan that includes cellular monitoring is required. For Alarm Grid customers, that is a Gold or higher plan, either Self or Full monitoring. For Alarm Grid customers, once you go to the monitoring sign-up page and choose a plan, make sure to choose one that supports cellular communication, and hit the Sign Up button for that plan. Fill in the requested information on each screen. If you choose a Self Gold or Self Platinum plan, the system can automatically create your account once you have entered all the correct information. For this reason, it is extremely important to enter the correct IMEI number when it is requested.
You will be asked to provide a credit or debit card number for billing purposes. Billing is done automatically, so a credit or debit card number is required, Alarm Grid doesn't accept checks. For Self Monitoring customers, once the account is created and the login information is sent to you via email, you'll be billed. This will now be your bill date each month going forward.
When you receive the welcome email, click Get Started within the email to complete your Alarm.com setup. You'll be asked for information required to set up the account. This includes some demographic information such as the type of location, single-family, business, condo, etc. the number of people occupying the location, as well as other information such as your power provider, and whether you want Alarm.com to share your power status information with the power provider in the event of a power outage. Go through each page and provide the requested information. Once you've gone through each screen of this process, you'll receive a congratulations message with another "Get Started" button at the bottom of the screen. Click it and you'll be taken to the Home screen within Alarm.com. Remember that any settings you configure during this setup process can be edited at any time through the website, or in most cases, the customer app.
For Full Monitoring customers, you will also be asked to provide the same information as Self-monitoring customers, but you'll also be asked for additional contact information, then you will make an appointment for activation. At that time, one of our activators will contact you and go through the activation process with you. We'll test the system to be sure it is reporting successfully. You will receive an email with your login information for Alarm.com and when you log in, you'll get a quick automated tour of the site. Once your account is activated, then your card will be charged. You will not be charged until your activation is complete.

This feature can be used to protect tempered, plate, or insulated windows that are at least 12" x 12" in size. Glass panes that are smaller than this should be protected in some other way, either with a separate glass break sensor, or possibly by positioning a motion detector to cover the area around the glass. There is a sensitivity setting that can be set to Low or Normal within the settings for the built-in glass break.
To enable the built-in glass break detector, start by pressing the gray bar at the top of the home screen. From the drop-down menu, choose Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default) - Installation - then Installer or Dealer Settings, depending on the code used to enter this section.
You can search for the word glass at the top of the screen, or you can scroll down until you find the "Panel Glass Break Detector" option. Place a checkmark in the box to the right and this will take you into the settings for the glass break zone. The panel will automatically assign this to the next available zone number and you will be taken into the screen to edit the options for this zone number.
Setting Options:
Sensor Type - Panel Glass Break
Sensor Group - The options are 17 - Glass Break-Away Only (default) or 13 - Glass Break. Sensor Group 13 will be active in both Away and Stay arming modes. Sensor Group 17 is active in Away only.
Sensitivity Level - Normal (default) or Low. You'll need to test this feature to determine which setting you need.
Sensor Name - You can customize the name, by default the description is Panel Glass Break.
Chime Type - You can select a chime type and if this zone is faulted while the system is disarmed, it will chime. This is not a feature that is often used with glass break detectors.
Voice Prompt - Off (default) or On. If enabled, this will allow the panel to speak the descriptor for chime and for alarms.
After changing any settings that require it, be sure to click the Save button and the panel will speak "Sensor added successfully". After the programming has been completed, it is recommended that you test the operation of this feature. You can do that using a glass break simulator, like the Honeywell FG701, or using a glass break sound available from our Youtube Channel here:

In this video, Darrell from Alarm Grid shows you how to connect an LTEM-PA or LTEM-PV communicator from Resideo to your WIFI network when you have a cellular connection enabled on the device. The reason the process is different when you have cellular, as opposed to when you don't, is that having cellular allows you to turn on Bluetooth in the communicator remotely. Without cellular, you will have to physically remove the cover and press the test button to enable the LTEM-P Series device for a Bluetooth connection.
Setting up the communicator's WIFI network is done through the Total Connect 2.0 app. Be sure your iOS device has Bluetooth turned on before you begin. Open the TC2 app, and log in using your credentials. In this video, we show you how to connect using an iOS device. If you need to see this process using an Android device, check for a link to that video at the bottom of this description.
Once you have logged into TC2, tap the More (...) icon at the lower right, then tap on Settings and tap Change Device WIFI Network. On the next screen, you are asked "Can you access and open the security device?" Since your communicator has a cellular connection, you can choose No. This tells Total Connect 2.0 to remotely send the command to start Bluetooth pairing on the communicator. If you can see the communicator, LEDs 1, 3, and 5 will begin flashing in sync. This indicates the communicator is in Bluetooth pairing mode. Remember, it will stay in this mode for 10 minutes, regardless of how long it takes you to complete the WIFI setup process.
A message will pop up in the app letting you know that Bluetooth at the communicator is being enabled. Then the screen will automatically advance and let you know that the security device's Bluetooth is on. Click Next. This is the screen where you will allow your phone to connect to the communicator via Bluetooth. Once your LTEM-P Series communicator shows up as a device you can connect to, select it. You'll know it's your security device because it will show the model number and the communicator's MAC address.
Select your communicator and then a message will pop up letting you know that your phone is connecting to your communicator. On iOS devices, you'll be prompted to allow your phone to pair with this device. Select "Pair". Once paired, the screen will automatically advance and a list of available WIFI networks will be returned. Select your network from the list, then click "Next". Enter your WIFI password. Remember, this is a case-sensitive password. Click "Next". Once the communicator connects successfully, you'll receive a message in the app "Successful WIFI Setup". Click "Done". Your communicator is now connected successfully to your WIFI network. If you're finished with Total Connect 2.0, you can select the "Back" option at the top of the screen and back out of the Settings menu, and exit the app.

Enter programming by keying in Installer Code + 8 + 000. The default installer code is 4140. Once in programming, enter zone programming using either * or # + 93. When prompted "Zone Programming?" enter a 1 for Yes. You'll be prompted with "Set to confirm?" in the video, we enter a 1 for yes.
Type in the three-digit zone number to program. The first available polling loop zone is number 10, so we entered 010 at this prompt, then hit * to move forward. You'll see the default summary screen, press * again to move past it. There are so many options in zone programming that I'm not going to cover them in detail here. The video does a pretty good job of describing each in detail. Refer to the FAQ for this video, linked at the bottom of this description, for more details.
As you move through the various prompts, you'll answer each and then press the asterisk key to move on to the next prompt. If you need to go back to a previous screen, press # or the pound key. One thing that is skipped in the video is how to exit programming when you're finished. Once you get through the programming for your final zone, you'll be taken to the next available zone number upon pressing * after your last zone's final summary screen. At this prompt, enter a zone number of 000, then press *. You'll be prompted to "Quit Menu Mode?" press 1, for yes. This will return you to regular programming, and you can press *99 to exit programming.

This video assumes you have an alarm system with a Total Connect 2.0 account already set up. Open the app and log in using your TC2 credentials. If you're not sure what the proper credentials are, contact your alarm dealer. Once you have logged in, click the "More" option at the lower right. The icon for this looks like (...). In the More screen, you'll see "Scenes" at the top. Tap this option, and you will see a list of any previously created scenes. Some scenes exist by default but don't have any actions associated with them. You can edit one of these existing scenes or you can click the "Create Scene" button.
The first step in creating a new scene is choosing a name. We recommend you choose a name that will help you to recall what the scene will do. Particularly if you plan to have a large number of scenes. After creating a name, click "Next" at the lower right of the keypad screen.
On the next screen, you'll choose what you want to trigger your scene. You can trigger based on a schedule, based on a system event such as arming or disarming, or the fault or restore of a zone, or you can choose to manually trigger the scene. When you tap on each option, you'll see any further programming choices based on that option. For example, if you choose to trigger "During this time" you'll then have to choose the time and the day or days on which you want this scene to trigger. You also have the choice of Sunrise or Sunset on particular days. Choosing "Trigger by some device" will then allow you to choose a device, and the state of that device that will cause the scene to run. It could be when the system arms away, or it might be when the front door opens (faults). Choosing "Manual" means that you will have to manually trigger the scene either through the TC2 app, or at the Lyric panel itself. Once you have selected a trigger, click "Next".
Next you'll choose what device or devices you want to automate with this scene. You can also automate the security system itself. For example, you could set this scene to arm the system, but in our case, we're automating a Z-Wave device, and our system is very simple with only one device to work with. So, we're selecting the Z-Wave switch for this scene. Then click "Next". Now we have to set what state we want to put the switch into when the scene is run. Our switch only has two (2) options. On, or off. We're choosing On for this scene. Then click "Next" and you'll be shown a summary screen. In summary, when we manually trigger this scene, Switch 001 will turn on. If any portion of this programming is incorrect, you can click the pencil icon to the right and edit it from here. If everything is correct, click "Save Scene".
In the video, we then test the scene and show it working after a successful automation sync between Total Connect 2.0 and the Lyric panel. This sync is important as we can't tell the Lyric panel to run a scene it doesn't know about yet. Since the scene was created in TC2, it has to be synced with the Lyric panel before it can actually do anything.
In the video we create another manually operated scene to turn the same Z-Wave switch back off, and the steps are the same as those above. After a sync, this scene is also demonstrated.

In this video, we show you the connection process using an Android device. In a separate video on connecting to WIFI when you do have a cellular connection, we show the process on an iOS device. We'll put a link to that video at the bottom of this description. This video assumes the PROWIFI or PROWIFIZW module has already been installed. Make sure your phone has Bluetooth enabled, and then open the Total Connect 2.0 app and log in using the proper credentials. If you're not sure what your credentials are, contact your alarm dealer.
Once logged in, click the hamburger menu (three-line menu icon at the top left) then click on Settings and tap the "Change Device WIFI Network" option. You'll be asked, "Can you access and open the security device?" In this case, the security device is the LTEM-PA or LTEM-PV. When a cellular connection is not available, you must be able to access and open the LTEM-P Series communicator, so answer "Yes".
If the cover of the LTEM-PA or LTEM-PV has not already been removed, remove it. Find the red test button at the upper right side of the device. Press and hold it for three (3) seconds. LEDs 1, 3, and 5 should begin to flash off and on in unison. This indicates the LTEM-P Series communicator is now in Bluetooth pairing mode. It will stay in this mode for ten (10) minutes, even if after you have successfully joined the WIFI network. This is normal.
Back in the TC2 app, press the Next button, the app will let you know that the LTEM-P Series device is in Bluetooth pairing mode. Again, be sure your phone's Bluetooth is also on, then click Next on the app. Your LTEM-P Series communicator should be shown as a device to pair with. You'll know it's your communicator because it will show LTEM-PA or LTEM-PV plus the MAC address of your communicator. Tap on the device name, and a message will tell you that your phone is connecting to the panel. Once the two devices connect, a list of available WIFI networks will be fetched and displayed.
From the list, select your WIFI network and then tap Next. Type in the proper password for the WIFI network selected. This password is case sensitive. After you enter it correctly, tap Next. You will receive a message that the WIFI network for the LTEM-P Series communicator has been set up successfully. Click Done and if you're finished with the TC2 app, you can exit.

From the menu on the left, choose Scenes. If you have the menu minimized, you'll just see an icon with a movie clapperboard rather than the word Scenes. When you first enter scenes, you'll see some scenes that exist by default within TC2. You are free to customize any of these scenes you like, but for demonstration purposes, we're going to choose the Add Scene button at the upper right. It looks like a hamburger menu with a + symbol next to it.
The first step is to choose a name for the scene. The name you choose should help you to remember what the scene will do. The scene name will hold up to 15 characters. Next, choose when the scene will trigger. This can be based on a schedule, based on the state of a security system device, or by manually triggering the scene.
If you choose to run at a scheduled time, you can choose a specific time, and then you can choose to repeat at the same time on subsequent days. You could choose 8:00 PM and then repeat every day, Monday - Friday. This setup will repeat on the selected days until you make a change to the scene or delete it. You also have the options of Sunrise and Sunset, which will occur based on the zip code for the system.
If you choose to activate the scene based on a security system device, you'll choose which device, and what state causes the scene to run. It could be arming or disarming of the security system itself that triggers the scene, or a fault on a particular device. It can also be based on another automation device, such as a door lock being locked or unlocked that causes the scene to run. Manually means that you will manually trigger the scene either through the panel touchscreen or through the TC2 app or webpage. Once you choose a trigger, click "Continue".
Next, you'll choose the scene's action. This is what you want to automate when the trigger occurs. In our example, we have a Z-Wave device listed under "Others" and we have the security system that is available to act once our trigger occurs. The options you will see here depend on the number and type of automation devices you have in your system. If you have Z-Wave locks, you'll have a section titled Locks. If you have lights, you'll have a section titled Lights. Our device is a switch/outlet, so it shows up under the title Other.
In our example, we want to set the switch to turn on when we manually run the scene. So, we hit the dropdown for Other and select the Switch by clicking on it, this will put a checkmark in the box by the device name. Then, we want to toggle the icon to On. This means when this scene runs, it will turn on the switch. This is the only action we want to include, so next click "Continue" in the lower right.
You'll be provided with a summary screen showing you the programming you've selected. If anything is wrong, or you want to add to the scene, you can click the "Edit" button in the lower right. Otherwise, click "Save". This saves your work. Now you can test the scene by manually running it. You can run the scene from the main "Scenes" screen by clicking the right-arrow to the right of the scene name. If you are using a touchscreen panel, such as a Lyric system, you will also have an option to manually run the scene through the touchscreen once the panel and Total Connect 2.0 have synced.

From the Home Screen of the LynxTouch panel, go to Automation - Arrow Down - Tools - Advanced Tools - Enter Installer Code (default is 4112). This will bring you to the Advanced Tools Menu. From here, choose "Locking Door". By default, the Z-Wave Locking Door feature shows Disabled. By pressing on the word Disabled, you can toggle through options for Arm Stay, Arm Away, or Arm without Auto Stay.
The option to Arm without Auto Stay means that when you lock the Z-Wave Lock, the system will Arm Away, and it will remain in the Away mode, even if the system doesn't see an entry/exit door fault and restore (open and close) during the exit delay (as though someone walked out the door).
Auto Stay Arming is a false alarm reduction feature meant to change the arming mode in the event that you accidentally armed away, when you meant to arm stay. You might choose this option if you want to Arm Away when the Z-Wave lock is locked, but perhaps you don't have any doors that are set for the entry/exit zone type. Seeing an entry/exit zone open and close during the exit delay is how the system can tell that someone left the premises. If the system doesn't see that, it will assume you didn't leave and that you accidentally armed in the wrong mode.
Once you select the option you want, be sure to hit the Save button at the lower right, then you can hit the return arrow at the top right until you're back at the Home screen.

The auto-bypass option is enabled or disabled by pressing the gray tab at the top of the home screen, choosing Settings - Advanced Settings, entering the Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 respectively, by default), then going to Installation - Security and Arming. You can scroll down to find the Auto-bypass option, or you can type bypass in the search bar at the top of the screen to bring it up automatically. If you disable this option, you will not be able to arm remotely if any burglary zone is faulted at the panel at the time you want to arm. Prior to panel firmware 4.1.0+ manually bypassing non-life-safety zones via Alarm.com was not an option. Since the release of firmware 4.1.0, you can now bypass individual zones, regardless of their status using Alarm.com.
To manually bypass one or more burglary zones from the panel touchscreen, go to the arming screen, click the right-pointing arrow, if necessary, then in the list of zones, select "All" rather than "Active". This will show you all zones, rather than just the active or faulted zones. Click on each zone you wish to bypass. The zone will show a checkmark to the left when it has been selected. Once all zones you wish to bypass have been selected, arm the system. Selected zones will be bypassed until the system is disarmed. Once disarming occurs, all bypassed zones will automatically be unbypassed.
Life safety zones such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors cannot be bypassed under any circumstances.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The L3000 can support Total Connect 2.0, however, the LTEM-PA and LTEM-PV communicators will not support TC2 with the L3000 panel. So, if you plan to use Total Connect 2.0, you'll want to choose a communicator other than the LTEM-P Series. The connections will be similar, regardless of which external communicator is used.
Before you begin, be sure that both the L3000 and the communicator are powered down. This will involve unplugging their respective plug-in power supplies, and backup batteries. Once you're sure both pieces of equipment are powered down, continue.
In order to make the proper connections, you will need an LYNXGSMEXTCB wiring harness. These are no longer available from the manufacturer, but you may be able to find one on eBay or a similar market. The LYNXGSMEXTCB plugs into a modular port on the L3000 main board. Depending on the version of the panel, the port is either located at the upper right side (when the panel is opened) of the board, near the hinges that connect the front of the panel to the back. Or it is located on the right side of the board as shown in this video. The cable has a keyed header, so it will only plug in using the correct orientation.
Once the cable has been connected to the panel, route the wires through the wiring access in the back. Now turn your attention to the communicator. Open the communicator and route the wires from the LYNXGSMEXTCB to the communicator through any available wiring access. In this video, we use the wiring port at the bottom of the LTEM-P Series communicator, but different communicators will have different wiring access channels. Just be sure to route the wire so that both the panel and the communicator covers can be closed properly to prevent any tamper warnings.
Because the communicator will need to use its own transformer, only three (3) wires from the L3000 panel will connect to the communicator. These are the Data In, Data Out, and Ground wires. Due to a quirk in the way the L3000 and the LYNXGSMEXTCB are made, the Black wire is actually DC Positive (+) and the Red wire is actually DC Negative (-). This means that you will not use the Black wire from the harness.
On the LTEM-P Series communicator, connect the Green wire from the L3000 to the terminal marked RX. Connect the Yellow wire to the terminal marked TX, and connect the Red wire to the terminal marked GND. If you are using a different communicator just remember that the Green wire will go to ECP Data In on the communicator, and the Yellow wire will go to ECP Data Out with the Red wire from the harness on the L3000 going to the communicator GND terminal. Once the wiring is completed, you can power up each device based on the instructions for that device. Connect the communicator's battery, then plug in its DC power adapter. Connect the battery to the L3000, then plug in its transformer. To register the communicator, contact your alarm dealer.

The DSC PG9949 is a 2-button key fob with a button showing an unlock icon, and another button showing a lock icon. The lock icon is for arming and the unlock icon is for disarming. The confusion comes because when you press and release the lock button a single time, the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 will arm in the Stay Mode (this is after the PG9949 has been learned into the IQ Panel 4, which we don't cover in this video).
In order to arm in Away Mode using the PG9949, you must press and release the lock icon, allow the panel to begin the exit delay countdown, and then press and release the lock icon again immediately after the countdown has started. The panel will give no outward sign that the second button press has occurred, but at the end of the exit delay countdown, it should arm in the Away Mode.
There is a feature in the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 called Auto-bypass, which is enabled by default. This feature will cause the panel to automatically bypass any faulted zone that would otherwise prevent the system from arming. This occurs whether you are arming via the touchscreen, via a key fob, or through Alarm.com. Once bypassed, any faulted zones will remain bypassed until the system is disarmed.
If you would prefer not to have your system automatically bypass faulted zones in order to allow you to arm your system when faults are present, you can disable this feature. Bear in mind, if you are arming remotely or from outside using a key fob, this will cause the system not to arm, as opposed to arming with some zones bypassed.
To disable Auto-bypass, press the gray bar at the top of the panel's home screen, go to Settings - Advanced Settings - Enter Installer Code (default is 1111) - Installation - Security & Arming. In the search bar at the top of the page, begin typing bypass and the feature will be highlighted. Click on the check box at the right to uncheck it. This will disable the Auto-bypass feature. The change is automatically saved. You can now click the Home icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the home screen.

To edit the Installer Code, from the Home Screen of the panel, press the hamburger menu icon in the bottom-center of the screen. This will bring up a list of menu options including Favorites, Devices, Sensors, Cameras, Scenes, Events, Settings, Tools, and Help. To see all of the options, you will. need to place your finger on the list and slide up to scroll through it. To change the Installer Code, scroll toward the bottom and select Tools. When prompted, enter the current Installer Code. The default is 4112.
This will bring you to the Installer's Menu. Here you'll see System Information, System Tests, Programming, Local Alarm Mode, WIFI Touchscreen enrollment, Installer PIN, and Default Options. Once again, you'll have to scroll up and down with your finger to see all of the available choices. Tap the Installer PIN option. This will bring you to the screen where you can review the current Installer PIN, or change it. By default, the 4-digit PIN is hidden. There is a "SHOW" button to the right that you can click to review the current PIN. Of course, you know what that PIN is because you had to use it to get to this screen.
Press Change Installer PIN. You'll be provided with a number pad and asked to "Enter new PIN". Once you key in the new 4-digit PIN, you'll be asked to "Confirm new PIN". Enter the same 4-digit PIN again. You'll be returned to the previous screen and a message will show at the top advising that the "PIN has successfully been changed". Press the left-arrow button in the upper left of the screen repeatedly until you return to the home screen.
