I have never laughed as hard during a Q&A as I have with this piece. Well, second to An Evening With Kevin Smith. This guy is talent personified and best of all without the bumptious egos many modern comedians wear on their hashtag-savvy sleeves like social media swastikas today. When Twon talks politics, when he calls Trump supporters Nazis, it isn't out of some misplaced sense of morally jaded orange man bad "I wonder how many retweets I get to boost the attendees of my Thursday improv gig" compass. He has family that worship the guy and Twon's experiences are believable, regardless of your personal take on the state of America. Even if he is clearly telling a joke, Wood is a person that you enjoy his storytelling so much, you want to believe the gag is true. I hit a wall, but I kept going, and had my hands around the end of my own personal reality. I was a shit guitarist. I was in a shit band. I called myself an artist... but I was barely a man. Going to college was worth it for the opportunity to meet folks from all walks of life, fellow out of place non-preppy students, and insanely talented creative types who had a childhood passion for Japanese trading cards. Chris Lynch was one of them.This GUY is kind, genuine, and YuGiOh savvy, wearing his heart on his sleeve and a chrome hearts lighter in his shorts pocket. Both professional and personal.Shooting the shit like a high powered colonic, I loaded up a double dose of dark magic coffee on a sunny afternoon, listening to The Kinks in bed. Connor was dabbling in a humble breakfast of post-flu magic mushrooms and hot tea (both the liquid and the Kermit). It was a blast, so much so, that I am excited for future collaborations with this kooky talented Ween-centric wizard of Weezer fan-domination. Why? Because there is no one else like him doing what he does (and he knows it).We had tried to lock down a time for this and failed with great success, originally scheduling to meet in NYC for the first CPPR IRL interview. In Car World, Everything Is Fine: Our Interview with William Banks & The Apostles of Car World cpprlive 2022-11-18 | I had been following the insatiable Edy Modica for awhile and somehow stumbled into Car World. Then, within a few hours, a video came on my Tik Tok detailing a man who exclaimed "I AM A MECHANIC" to a fully packed crowd. Reactions of joy, fear, and laughter emerged, with one of the "comedians" being held back from taking a swing at this ol' mechanic fella. That man was and still is William Banks, the bad boy and sweetheart hero of this interactive comedy team. He is as likable as Cholula Hot Sauce, with eyebrows as detailed and beautiful as Ezra Koenig's pre-Rashida Jones lyrics. Take a look at the final seconds of this video and tell me that William and my childhood hero, W.C. Fields, don't have that same underground movement spark and gleam in their eyes. And as for the apostles I spoke with, their incredibly lavish descriptions of favorite breakfast items made me realize why I've been asking that question for almost ten years. Because it is good, pure, and a little bit silly... and at a time where every single person, place, or treasured thing seems to be melting like the cheese in John Connor Hammond's 3 egg omelet, I am relieved and revived with hope for the future of haha hehe lmao.
