Using Inkscape to Create Custom Cameo Files The Ocala Design Group 2013-12-29 | Hi Everyone!It is time to pull out those Cameos I hope you got for Christmas, and get them out of the boxes! Today I am going to show you how to use Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/en) to create custom files that you can cut with your Cameo. A while ago I taught you how to convert SVG files to cuttable files. and this is going one step further. All you need to do is download the FREE inkscape program, and then your Cameo software. Once both of these are done, you are ready to begin this journey. I did do this in video format so it was easier to follow along. I hope this inspires your to use your wonderful machine just a bit more. If you have any questions, please ask. I will try to help you in any way possible. Tracing Images with the Cameo The Ocala Design Group 2013-08-29 | Cameo software does have a way to complete the tracings of SIMPLE items. When I simple, I mean solid black images that have no interior to them. You can trace and cut complex items, but the simplicity factor, let's not do that.

With illustrator you are able to change .JPEG file that have strong black outlines into .DXF files with ease once you get a hang of it.
Convert .SVG files to .DXF files to cut on your Cameo using Inkscape The Ocala Design Group 2013-08-29 | You want to use Inkscape if you are new to the computer game, as it is a FREE program. You can use Inkscape to change those .SVG files into .DXF siles that can be cut on your cameo. Why would you want to change them to .DXF files? Well, if you are using the base Silhouette program, then you do not have the ability to cut .SVG files which are readily available for FREE.
