#ElizabethSmart #SurvivorSupport #SexualAssaultAwareness #HowToHelp #TraumaHealingYou Dont Always Need Therapy to Heal From TraumaElizabeth Smart2026-04-09 | Everyone thinks that after someone experiences trauma, therapy is an automatic need. But in reality, that's not always the case. Some people don't need therapy — and that's okay.
In this video I talk about why it's okay to be okay. If you're familiar with my story, you might be surprised to hear that I was someone who did not find therapy healing after my kidnapping. It was actually the opposite. In this video we talk more about how people experience and heal from trauma. No one's experiences are the same, and it's ok to heal differently.

#elizabethsmart #purityculture #parentingWhen Faith Turns Into Shame: Elizabeth Smart on Purity CultureElizabeth Smart2026-03-05 | 8:49In this conversation, I share my thoughts on purity culture, abstinence, and the unintended shame that can happen when we don’t talk about consent and safety.
As Elizabeth Smart, I believe it’s okay to teach abstinence before marriage. But if we don’t also teach about consent, coercion, and dangerous relationships, we leave young people vulnerable — not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally.
When something harmful happens and no one has prepared you for it, the shame can feel overwhelming. It can create feelings of doubt, loss of self-worth, and even the belief that you are somehow “ruined.” I’ve seen how purity culture, without conversations about protection and boundaries, can lead to deep spiritual and physical shame.
This is why I believe we must shift the conversation. Faith should never be a source of shame. We need to talk about healthy relationships, self-worth, and healing just as much as we talk about values.
If you’ve ever struggled with shame connected to purity culture, faith, or trauma — I want you to know you ARE of value.
