1997 Epiphone Les Paul Jr (J Serial / Bolt On Neck) Johan Joos Laur 2024-07-06 | Coucou ! Here's a lil' tone test of this lovely Epiphone Les Paul Junior from 1997 seems like, J serial. Not sure it's made in Japan or J stands for Jakarta ? Anyway, couldn't care less as that guitar truly plays like a charm (the fingerboard looks amazing in person !). Sounds very warm and dynamic, even though I'm sure an uprade would drastically improve it :) It's all stock except the tuners, came with standard die cast ones I believe from factory. Here's a Zoom G3/G3X preset I've been working on. Basically trying to sound more like a blackface Fender amp, not easy ! The Spring Reverb is so important on these type of tones I believe, and a cool trick I found was to put the Spring Reverb block BEFORE the amp. You may not know I've been an Amplitube 3 user for yeeears and years, really liked this software back then (and still do). So naturally I had to give a shot to the latest version : Amplitube 5. Quickly made a preset from scratch and here's a little jam with the JET Guitars JS-300. It's full of non-sense but I enjoyed my time aha ! I'm using the Zoom G3X as an audio interface here, so I can trigger its Wah simulation in front of Amplitube, always fun. Anyway, first impressions about Amplitube 5 : really really dig the interface, so far the best I've ever eperienced on any software/modeler/multiFX by far. It feels awesome under the fingers too, and it seems to sound really great. These Ibanez DS7 can be found quite cheap on the used market (here in France anyway)...but are they worth it ? I have superb souvenirs of the DE7 for example (their Echo/Delay), the TE7 had great reviews too. Will do a "in the mix/jam" video with this DS7 for sure !

JET Guitars JT350 & Amplitube 3 : Jamming on Trust Myself Loving You (John Mayer) | Sound Test Johan Joos Laur 2021-11-30 | Coucou ! Waking up jam from this morning playing the JET Guitars JT350 which is their new affordable telecaster model, plugged into Amplitube 3 over this very sweet backing track uploaded by Simon Jones ! (youtube.com/watch?v=4DvliIp3XsY&ab_channel=SimonJones).Just changed the strings and did a bit of a setup so the guitar might need few days to settle in, but this is very promising ! Locking tuners are awesome, they seem to do their job perfectly and I can definitely see a difference so far when it comes to tuning stability. The humbucker and single coil bridge pickup work very well together, the split gives great results. A pleasuree to play, so far so good ! :)

Testing a lead preset...AM Ring Mod ? Cali IV ? | HX Stomp | John Cordy Backing Track Johan Joos Laur 2021-11-13 | Coucou ! Was in the mood to spend 15 minutes on the HX Stomp trying to make a lead preset from scratch, this time using different fx/amps than my "go to" Teemahs and US Princess...aha ! So I went for the Cali IV Lead and its default cab, Deluxe Comp, AM Ring Mod, Deranged Master & Spring Reverb in front, Dual Delay & Glitz Reverb after the amp. Not sure it makes much sense but I'll keep tweakin' it (sounds a bit too harsh I think right now...need to try with less gain on the amp and playing with the high cut cab setting). This killer song "Smokin Out the Window" was in my YouTube recommendations last night...since I dig @brunomars , Anderson .Paak & Silk Sonic a lot, obviously gave it a listen and instantly made me want to grab the guitar aha ! (Jet Guitars JS300 into Amplitube 3 here) Always lovely when a song inspires you to play. Anyway quickly tweaked it to make some kind of "extended version" (to solo over...), and this is my second take on it (the first one made no sense, not that this one does though ahahaha). Here's the Jet JS300 into Amplitube 3, from clean(ish) to overdrive basically, I do think it doesn't sound nearly as good as the HX Stomp for example (it's like 12yo now though...so kinda expected ?) but there's something about "feel" that I really dig in Amplitube for clean/low gain stuff. Anyway, should probably have drunk my coffee before shooting this one, excuse the dubious playing here.
