Spoken word artist KennyFresh hosted the event, and included featured readers such as Deedee Cummings! Deedee shared some of her latest work from her series, Kayla: A Modern Day Princess. The public was also encouraged to both listen and to participate in the free program by reading short excerpts by African American authors in an open mic format via Zoom.

Old-School Drawing Trick: Pouncing! TheCarnegieCulturalArtsCenter 2021-03-25 | This five-minute video demonstrates how to use an old-fashioned art technique called "pouncing" to copy a picture. This video is inspired by the George W. Morrison at 200 exhibition at the Carnegie Center for Art and History, which features paintings and drawings by New Albany, Indiana painter George Morrison and also a few by his daughter, Mary "Minnie" Morrison. Pouncing is a technique that artists in the 19th Century like the Morrisons (and artists from much earlier in history) used to make a quick outlined replica of another image. Recorded during the Lunch and Learn Program, Oct. 21, 2020 at noon for the Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, IN.This slightly longer than an hour long discussion centers on how desegregation impacted Black teachers and educators in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education and how that has affected the modern classroom to this day. Dr. Foster is the author of the landmark study, Black Teachers on Teaching and is the Henry Heuser Jr Endowed Chair for Urban Education Partnerships at the University of Louisville.
