Axia-ASD PDSG October 2019 - Pilates Presentation Lord Dream 2019-11-28 | "Pilates for Autistic Bodies" with Karen Manghan, Autistic Adult, Autism Practitioner and Pilates TeacherPilates is a low impact form of exercise which aims to strengthen the body and can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.Karen has studied the links between Autism and Hypermobility, which often leads to autistic people developing postural issues or pain conditions. Karen has a number of autistic Pilates clients who have benefited from Pilates in improving body awareness, co ordination and general well being.Karen will deliver a presentation to explain how Pilates works, and will demonstrate some standing and sitting exercises to help improve posture. You are welcome to join in with the exercises if you wish, but do not have to do so.Karen can also offer four short postural assessments during the break, if you would like an assessment then please wear loose clothing and understand that Karen may need to touch the spine or pelvis, assessments are performed standing and fully clothed.

More recently there has been an understanding that autism can present itself in other ways which leads to a very different type of autistic personality type than was traditionally thought. This has been termed the ‘female presentation of autism’ and does appear to affect many autistic women, but other autistic people also relate to this autistic profile. In this talk, we will look at how women and others who do not fit the traditional autistic profile have been missed, mis-diagnosed and misunderstood.

Mind Fuel by Dream Lord Dream 2013-06-18 | I started writing this a couple of years back and never finished it. Having not picked up my guitar in 2012, I'm trying to get that "creative spirit" flowing once more, so finished writing the lyrics a week or so ago and recorded it today (I know it's rough, but something's better than nothing right?). I was blessed to receive an EP entitled "The Man With The Grasshopper Brain" from a couple of guys, Richard Tracey and Brian Bannister. This became one of my most treasured records.Some 20 odd years later, this track and a couple of others from the EP (such as "42/100") actually feel even MORE important than at the time. Sadly, I believe the duo split before producing their intended album, so this EP is a rarity.To me it feels more of a crime NOT to share the wonderful, poignant and relevant music than respecting some notional symbol of a "C" within a circle. If you can't buy this then I'm depriving no one of any financial reward am I???IF Brian or Richard see this, firstly "Hey guys, thanks for the Christmas card and I hope you're both doing well", and secondly "If either of YOU want me to remove this video then just send me a message and I'll obviously respect your wishes and pull it immediately".Until then people, ENJOY :-)
