Fortnite on a Nokia N-Gage PocketsUke Plays + Joypad Junkys 2023-04-01 | This project was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Initially, I was faced with the task of finding a solution to remotely control my personal computer from my N-Gage device. Despite conducting extensive research online, I discovered that there was no suitable wireless option available for the N-Gage device. The existing Remote Desktop ports to s60 devices relied on the use of a USB cable, which I wished to avoid due to its slow data transfer speeds.After considerable investigation, I identified a viable hardware option - a Bluetooth adapter for USB. By connecting my phone to the computer via Bluetooth, I could use a modified version of the remote desktop software to operate the computer remotely. As a modern SDK had been developed for the N-Gage, I was confident that I could create custom software for the device.Although I am relatively new to coding, I persevered with the project for several weeks, and the end result surpassed my expectations. Despite a slight screen flicker caused by the power consumption of the software running on the N-Gage coupled with an overclock, we managed to achieve an impressive 23fps, peaking above 69fps in menus. The battery life of the N-Gage lasted for approximately 420 minutes, which although shorter than the average battery life, provided ample time to play a few rounds of Fortnite.All in all I think this project was a success! Info - The port itself has been around since 2006/07 by Dmitry Gazko “dgazko” of Dr.Khumen Research Labs Ltd. and was playable but very slow. Recently a member of the Nokia N-Gage Discord "Atlantic Air" shared software to overclock the NEM-4 and QD versions of the N-Gage. This allows NEM-4 to be run as high (depending on unit) as 149mhz stable(ish) as opposed to its stock104mhz. This overclock differs from the old Speedup.sis overclock in a couple of ways. Speedup.sis only works on NEM-4 models and not the QD. It also only clocks up to 130mhz.This increase in speed allows us to play Quake at a more than reasonable frame rate. DOOM and DOOM 2 running on a Nokia N-Gage PocketsUke Plays + Joypad Junkys 2023-03-10 | This is DOOM running on a Nokia N-Gage.This is a port of Doom called C2Doom for s60 phones by Markus Mertama which is based on CDoom for the Nokia 9210 which was also by Markus with Hannu Viitala. It supports Symbian OS Series 80 v2.0, Series 90, Series 60 v1.2 and up. Most notably the Nokia N-Gage. It runs very well!Another notable port of Doom for s60 based phones with a version just for the N-Gage was released by Wildpalm. Unlike C2Doom, the Wildpalm Port does not support music or proper screen scaling (unless rotating the phone).
