I have lost contact with many different people over the years — for better, or for worse — and there are many complexities to exploring those memories.First and foremost, I waited so long to come out as trans because of the schools I went to and the people I was around. Though this is far from the only reason for staying in the closet, nobody really knew me for who I was. Ruminating on reconnecting with people from before then, especially from my catholic education, worries me a lot. Sometimes there are people from my life who have hurt me or I have hurt. It's natural to go into those memories and think that it's all ruined because of whatever conflict caused a rift. There are also so many times and places that are muddied by struggles and traumas, and it's hard to overcome the terrifying aura that permeates those things.However, I have found it important to know that many of the things I miss are not the people or the situations, but rather the memories themselves. You can still find something good amidst all of the bad or uncertain. I don't really need to know how people would react to me being so queer, I can keep my distance while maintaining the positive views I have of our past friendships. I can remember harder times for the small positive memories that managed to be created. And I can still try to not let conflicts and divisions take away from moments that had a positive impact on me.Obviously, to frame things like this does not elucidate the full picture. But for people and times where this all can be applied, it can help to facilitate a healthier outlook on things.The mixtape employs a lot of different religious and faith based imagery, and a lot of that is because it is a sort of a spiritual thing to believe in things a certain way, rather than always maintaining the fullest scope of everything. 【Music】The Death of All Magic Vylet Pony 2024-02-24 | I'm hesitant to ever adopt any rose tinted nostalgia — that "the past was so much better" — especially because I consider myself a futurist and always seeking things that will help progress art and everyday living forward.Yet, it is undeniable that late stage capitalism has dawned yet another layer of dystopia. The earlier 2000's web and its webpages were typically permeated with designs and ideas that were messy and slow to load, yet they were quite functional and promoted muscle memory because they rarely changed. Websites and apps in the 2020's have now been dominated by what I call "slippery design". What I mean is that "slippery design" makes it easy to perform unintended actions, does not operate intuitively on mobile devices, fights user decisions and gestures, and loads things or popups slowly so as to constantly have a webpage shift around erratically until everything settles. Most of these things are intentional and used by big companies to trick users into doing things that create 'growth'.The web, as well as software, being frequently bought out and restructured by large corporations have ruined functionality and user experiences across the board, for things like Discord, Twitter, YouTube, and thousands of other things that people use every day.When you begin to consider the entertainment industry, therein exists a whole other level of monotony. Movies and TV shows, in the era of online streaming, have been reduced to soulless franchises where the only profit incentive is to make way for a trillion sequels. Anything new that could come out is shut down by Netflix executives and dried up by investors who would rather see the 30th Star Wars movie exist. Rarely now do AAA studios produce video games that are fun or compelling. I think a lot of people would love more baseline functional gaming experiences, but instead everything is a gacha machine or a microtransaction or a DLC whore or an unfinished product sold on a massive scale, boasting crunch times and employee morale being torn to shreds. Most of the only good games coming out in the last five or more years have been made of small teams of indie developers who recognize that having Shitlord™3080 Raytracing graphics paired with a Hyperbingus Quadfunk Physics Engine (with a state of the art Sand Particle Simulation that allows for 50 quadrillion individual sand particles to be accurately modeled at once) isn't actually what makes a video game good.To anyone who cares about art and functionality, as well as to people with accessibility needs to who face the otherwise unseen challenges of trying to navigate hostile digital design, it feels as if human expression is being held hostage by corporate middle aged white men grasping to the millions of dollars that they will never spend or donate (unless it's for a tax cut). "Paradise Valley" and much of my upcoming work deals with homesickness and memories of home. More specific to this, though, "ECR" is also a (SamTrans) bus route in California that goes up and down El Camino Real. It's a route I've taken a lot.I think about how initially I started using public transportation as way to get home faster, because I would have to wait at school until 7pm every day if I didn't take the ECR. But as time went on, taking the bus home — which lasted over 2 hours, typically — I came to appreciate and love it. 【Music】Hush! Vylet Pony 2023-11-20 | "In the distance I could see what looked like a small cottage. And now, I know that it was Creekflow who was standing there. But when it happened, all I could see was this sort of amorphous darkness with two, bright eyes staring back at me from the entrance to the cottage.The journey to the cottage was permeated very strongly by the scent of the carrion. All the bodies appeared freshly slain. I still couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t. The once clear blue sky had shifted into this sort of indiscernible clutter of bizarre colours and geometry. I couldn’t even really tell what time of day it was. The grass was dying, the flowers were wilting, and — right before my eyes — the trees were shedding all of their leaves. All the while, I could hear Creekflow’s voice in my head. It spoke both beguilingly and contemptuously. I couldn’t really gauge its intentions, but it continually ridiculed me.When I finally had reached the cottage, I opened the door to find a dark void. I couldn’t see anything. Yet, when I stepped into the darkness, it was as if light was cast onto me from the outside. I could still see myself clearly.From out of the darkness appeared Creekflow, once more. We were face to face. I could finally get a good look at it. It looked like me but there were strange differences that I couldn’t explain very precisely. Its demeanor was more poised and shrewd, to be certain. It held itself up in a way that felt commanding and stoic. Creekflow reached out to me and pulled me to it. Miraculously, Creekflow was slightly taller than me. We began to dance in the darkness. All we could see was each other. While it led my steps, Creekflow spoke of a grand design in which it sought to destroy the universe as we know it. It would rebuild everything into its own vision. I didn’t know what to say. But when it had completed its thoughts and manifesto, it disappeared into the darkness, leaving only a trail of wild rose petals.I followed the rose petals. They formed a path in the void. At the end of it, there was a mound of soil. A living, growing, wild rose was blooming from it. As I reached out to touch and examine it, a scythe blade swept out from the darkness and uprooted the flower. It dissolved instantly.“do you believe in destiny?” Creekflow’s voice called out from the darkness. I didn’t know what to say. Before I could even answer, the blade swung out from the darkness again. I managed to block it with my own scythe. I could see Creekflow’s eyes gleaming through the void at me. Getting up onto my hooves, I managed to push its scythe away. I leapt out, thrusting the scythe towards Creekflow, but it parried it and knocked my blade to the floor. I then felt the cold steel of Creekflow’s scythe descend quickly against my neck. “hush,” it said to me. I couldn’t maintain my composure, and I fell to the floor. The darkness began to dissipate and reveal the grass beneath my hooves. As I began to see more around me, I realized that I was now surrounded by an unfamiliar open field. It appeared as endless as the one outside of the cottage, but the grass was still growing and there were no corpses. Instead, it smelled of fresh water, roses, and hay.The darkness faded completely. Scattered across the meadow were scythes, stuck firmly into the earth. The ringing in my ears finally began to also fade. I nearly fainted a second time when, beyond the rubble of glass shards, I saw the pile of corpses at the far end of the room. Standing among the bodies was … a pony that looked just like me. Yet, it couldn’t have been a reflection. It moved on its own and resembled me only uncannily. It spoke,“murderer. murderer. murderer,” it paced, gripping its own bloodied scythe.“MURDERER,” it raised its voice and pointed the blade towards me. The blood trickled down from the tip of the scythe, dripping down and seeping into the lifeless bodies.The bodies. They all seemed to be larger, more considerably sized equine creatures. Every single one of them had been decapitated. Every cut was clean and precise, and appeared to have been accomplished in one single stroke. Though, the heads were nowhere to be seen. “i have become creekflow. though i always was,” it spoke, moving slowly towards me, “this is your slaughter.”I still felt like I was coming to my senses. I was dazed and confused. In that bewilderment, I lunged out at Creekflow and swept my scythe out towards it. The blade of my scythe met its own, as if it had been anticipating my attack.
