More back story than you want to know:
A colleague of mine was talking with her six-year-old niece. The girl says “Aunt Ashley, I’ve already had three treats today! I saw the sunrise; that was the first treat.” Obviously this is totally adorable, but also cool advice. Following this, Ashley and I would share our “treats of the day.” Small, random things that occur as we go through life that make one smile or lifts one’s spirit. I think this is a powerful meditation. You don’t need to keep a spreadsheet or anything… just notice the small joys… the “treat of the day.”
I didn’t think treat of the day was a particularly musical phrase so I messed around with it a little bit.
The verses were written by famous depressed guy, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, over some minor chords. Then one “opens their heart’” for the chorus.

Back story: My good friend, Mila, asked me to perform some shows with him. I played six nights a week in the 80s, but I haven't performed live since about 1995 (unless you count my brief stint as guitar player for my daughter's 5th grade choir in 2005.) This was great fun for me.

Daniel Droz 2011-08-21 | Back story: About 5 years ago I had knee surgery and spent a week loaded on pain meds and watching movies. I watched a movie called "Waking Life" which in my hydrocodone state seemed so profound that I scribbled down a bunch of notes. I wrote this tune from those notes... I really don't know if they have anything to do with the movie at this point.

I don't know much about the religion other then it is repressed in China. The have a exercise meditation similar to Tai Chi and their primary teachings are truthfulness, compassion & forbearance. I was searching for song ideas about rain because Mikayla had made a carved block print of a raindrop over a mountain. (its in the video).
