In this video, I’ll show you how to turn a basic ratchet strap into a full-on ratcheting band clamp—with no glue, no tools, and no sewing. We’ll even take a look at those little plastic corner pieces most of them come with—and why I think they’re more trouble than they’re worth.

In this video, I’m making a simple, reversible router fence designed for a small bench-mounted router table. On one side, it's a straightforward fixed fence—easy to make, easy to use. But flip it over, and you get a precision edge jointer for cleaning up small stock—without ever touching your full-size jointer.
Why build a router fence like this?
A router table without a fence limits what you can do. Whether you’re cutting dados, trimming edges, or using a chamfer or roundover bit, the fence gives you a reliable reference surface to control the cut and improve safety. This version pivots from one side so you can dial in your cut, lock it with a knob, and reinforce it with an F-clamp. It’s adjustable, solid, and compact enough to hang on the wall next to the table.
Why use a router instead of a jointer for small pieces?
Jointers are incredible machines—but they come with a serious downside when it comes to smaller stock. The large cutterhead can easily grab and throw short or narrow pieces. That’s where this setup shines. With a flush trim bit and a small shim on the outfeed side, your router table becomes a safe, controlled mini jointer. It’s perfect for squaring up small exotic blanks, edge jointing short strips, or fine-tuning pieces that are just too risky for larger machines.

In this video, I’m slowing things down to show the full build. This dowel-tensioned sanding block with curved ends is simple to make, and I’ll also walk you through a handy ejection jig. You can use the block by hand or chuck it in a vise — and because it rotates, you actually use the entire belt before tossing it, unlike most sanding blocks where half the grit goes to waste.
Stick around and we’ll build a tote to go with it. The handle doubles as a dowel ejector — tap the sides, and it pops the belt loose. It’s fast, reliable, and just works.

This is the third project in my Router Base Onion Build series, where each project builds off a shared plexiglass baseplate. This clam-style storage cabinet folds open to double your storage without taking up extra wall space. Inspired by Steve Ramsey’s design, I’ve added a hidden front tool door to store brushes, tape, and other finishing tools. And when the temperature drops, you can unhook it from the French cleat and bring it inside—protecting your materials from cold damage.

This jig is a game-changer, especially if you’re using a budget-friendly circular saw (some as low as $30). This video is what I call an onion project—a multi-layered build designed to suit all levels of woodworking skill. In the first half, I’ll show you how to create a fully functional tenoning jig that’s simple to make and ready to use right away. In the second half, we’ll peel back the layers and add advanced features to fine-tune the jig for ultimate precision. The other layers aren't critical and can be added any time in the future, so be sure to save this video.
The only large power tool you’ll need for this build is a table saw. If you’ve got a table saw, chances are you already have the smaller tools like a hand drill, to make this DIY project. I've done everything I can to make this as simple and as easy as possible, fully utilizing the table saw so that you don't need to invest in a lot of expensive tools.
By the end, I'm confident that you’ll have an extremely versatile, precision tool for your shop—perfect for making flawless tenons and improving your joinery workflow.

This DIY clamping aid is built from a few pieces of plywood, a groove with t-track, and a couple of blocks to keep everything locked in place. It securely clamps each corner with only two clamps, holding the angles just right for a clean, tight fit every time. It’s a quick project, but it’s now my go-to solution for clamping frames without needing any expensive corner clamps. Perfect for anyone looking to save money and make use of scrap wood.

But wait!
If we’re going to use our miter gauge with the newly created miter arm, we need a good stop block system to make repeated cutting easier. The table saw’s fence has this ability…the miter gauge shouldn’t be left out. Besides this, having a t-track on the top will allow us to add jigs in the future with a simple t-bolt and thumb knob…and who doesn’t love expandability? In this chapter, we’re going to add a much needed system to what we created in the past chapter…a really good stop block system!

On the other hand, rounding square stock is a chore and taxing on lathe tools when stock needs to be made round. If we can cut the corners off of our stock and bring them to a rounder shape, we're doing less dulling with our tools.
This tool, used on the bandsaw, is an excellent way to work with stock going to or coming from the lathe.
