These bands except for the ones in Yougoslavia, have one thing in common, being spied on by the system constantly to see if they said anything dangerous or had secret anti-party sentiments. In reality they just wanted to make music for the people who were depressed because of the tight grip of the system and needed some hope! Yougoslavia was free from the soviet boot but they had their own economic and political crisis going on! I think we, people who live in central eastern Europe have a lot of things in common even if we don't know that and that is why I bring the bands together in the Metro Radio!I am from Romania, I discovered Viktor Tsoi while playing Metro Exodus in the "radio" and even though I didn't understand the language I could resonate with the vibe and it was the perfect music to listen to in a broken world! so I wondered what if there is more? so I looked into other soviet territory to find the hidden alternative scene! Metro Radio | Kino | Viktor Tsoi | Anthology Vosto Vlad 2020-06-24 | Viktor Tsoi, co-founder of the band Kino (Кино́) , a legend in Russia and in other ex-soviet nations, through his compositions the artist was telling the soviet youth to take control and make changes within the nation, some of the songs addressed the social problems crippling the nation. I heard about this band through a radio station from the post-apocalyptic game Metro Exodus. I couldn't understand the words but I understood the feeling behind the songs and so I had to research beyond those 5 songs in the video game. I found a treasure trove of tracks, each unique in its own way. Despite him dying in a car accident in 1990 his music lived until today and I also wish to inspire others with his songs by uploading his whole discography in this video! If the world is to perish I would like to still have a Kino record to play and help me go through the day while looking at the ruins of once was a flourishing civilisation. Even if I don't smoke I can still resonate with the words from this one song that says " if you have a pack of cigarettes in your pocket it's still ok "...just how a soldier has his last cigarette when he has been deadly wounded but can a cigarette calm the pain of a crumbling world? I am surprised to see that no one else covered this topic but that's why I am here for and why I've made the "Games Exposed" series.
