Metroid Prime Remastered - Geothermal Core Without Grapple TRR 2023-02-13 | Use a DBSJ by locking the camera with a boost hold. What I do is hold boost with L and release it before unmorphing (Y) and jumping (B). Important to note that I BSJ straight up and then only start holding towards the spinner after/as I unmorph. If you starting moving towards the spinner before unmorphing it makes jumping out of the IU very inconsistent (inexplicably).
Ridley Flyby Skip 7 Times in a Row + Setup TRR 2023-01-23 | I've been refining a flyby skip setup for a while now and I've finally gotten it down to a science. The setup uses pause buffers, however it can be done with as little as 1 pause which I demonstrated in the video.Here are the steps:Edit: This setup has the potential of working if you only do step 7 (ie none of the steps up to the final shot). However, in my testing it's inconsistent and can sometimes be off by a margin of 1-2 frames. For maximum consistency I'd recommend doing steps 1-6.1. Have plasma already out when the fight starts. Switching after the fight has begun will mess this up.2. Fire a full charge shot right as it finishes charging (pay attention to the meter for all shots). R-jumping forward helps get into position.3. Fire a partial charge shot. This shot has an 11 frame window. Basically Ridley starts his flyby once 400 damage has been dealt. You'll fire 3 full charge shots (100 damage each = 300 total) + 3 single plasma shots (12 each = 36 total), so you need to do 64 more damage to reach 400. You get this 64 damage from this partially charged shot. The problem is if you charge it up too much Ridley bounces back which knocks him further into the air and messes up the setup (and makes midair boost impossible). So you need to time this shot just right where you do enough damage but don't knock Ridley back. Shoot when the charge meter reaches the middle of the arm cannon.4. Fire a second full charge shot. If you're too slow up to this point Ridley won't move left after this and will instead do an attack.5. Fire a third full charge shot after Ridley moves left. This one needs to be shot as soon a possible. Being too late on this shot will affect Ridley's position and facing direction. Additionally this charge shot can send Ridley into immediate flyby if fired frame perfectly which obviously ruins everything. So just try to fire early.6. Now Ridley will be stunned and preparing for his flyby. You want to jump up to Ridley while aligning yourself with this part of the wall: https://i.imgur.com/gH8m6UJ.png. This is important because it affects the visual reference.7. Visual reference #1: Pause buffer and watch Ridley's wing tip as it passes over the words "missile recharge" on the pause screen. You want to fire once the wing tip passes just above those words (it will be above "c" if you've followed steps 1-6 correctly). Here's a gif for reference: imgur.com/a/S2ol2Gg. Your height is important so make sure you get a big jump off the wall and that you're at the apex of the jump when pause buffering. If your jump isn't high enough then this setup won't work at all.Obsolete: Visual reference #2: Pause buffer until Ridley's wing tip reaches the edge of the shadow on the rock behind it. Here's a gif for reference: imgur.com/a/1l6Bt8o. You want the tip of the wing to be touching the edge of the shadow (the bottom of the red triangle in the gif) or sort of dipping just below it. In general the correct frame is the one where the wing tip is very slightly below the shadow. If the wing tip enters the shadow you're most likely late.Edit: There's a weird quirk I found with pause buffering... The frame that you need to fire on is always 1 frame later if you pause buffer instead of frame advance. Ie if you'd normally fire your shot on frame 100 while frame advancing then you'll need to fire on frame 101 if you pause buffer to frame 100. So, if you practice this setup with frame advance bear in mind that you'll actually need to fire 1 frame later when pause buffering.

The 2 extra names are at 00:35, "Daniel Schäfers" and "Pierre Sanchez". In my opinion, this section is made much harder by their inclusion as you're faced with 2 spreads on either side of the screen and barely enough time to catch them. Still pales in comparison to the voice actors...

[Tool Assisted Demonstration] Pikmin 2 - 5 Day Completion - Day 2 TRR 2021-02-09 | This was a real challenge to make. Pikmin 2's mechanics are foreign to me so there was a lot to learn. Routing Pikmin 2 seems more complicated than 1 because there are a lot of possibilities opened up by the dual captains. Getting everything to line up perfectly took a lot of effort but I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Caves are excluded because they're irrelevant to the challenge (spray farming fest).
[Tool Assisted Demonstration] Pikmin 2 - 5 Day Completion - Day 1 TRR 2021-02-01 | Credit to 依代 九朔_Vtuber for the bulborb boost onto the ledge. Cutscene timer storage: to do the cutscene timer storage glitch, end the day as soon as the ghost of the first bulborb appears (after doing day 1 extinction). Then, start over from the beginning and you'll be able to switch to louie before killing the bulborb. This is necessary because you need to keep the bulborb alive until after the paper bag is crushed (crushing the paper bag sets off a lot of different flags in the game). If you don't do CTS, then you'd have to kill the bulborb to switch to louie, and then upon crushing the paper bag, olimar would be warped down from the ledge.2. The clip: incredibly annoying and inconsistent especially with the bulborb being able to damage you. You can do it without the bulborb being able to damage you (it can't damage you pre-paper bag crushing), but then the paper bag crushing cutscene warps you down. The positioning of the bulborb and olimar is very important. The speed of the captain seems to be important. The captain himself (olimar vs louie) I think might also matter. To do this non-TAS, you can only take damage 10 times (5 hits per captain) before having to reset. Taking damage is not essential for the clip but it is likely to happen. This probably took around 10000 attempts and that's with the ability to save state/frame advance any attempts that were close.3.Getting maximum pikmin: the idea is to continuously turn your reds into purples and generate 1 seed from the onion each time. Because you don't have any reds, the onion sprouts 1 red pikmin, which you then turn into a purple. You can do this until you have greater than 19 purples, then you grab the bulborb and cannon beetle. The cannon beetle is just barely reachable if you swarm your pikmin around. You have to get lucky that it drops 2 red pellets and that they are reachable by the pikmin.4. The day normally ends after collecting the spherical atlas but didn't this time because of "rest skip". By overlapping the onion sprouting event with the day end event, you can bypass the automatic day end.5.What's left: clear AW starting with 43 pikmin. Because I'm not super familiar with Pikmin 2 routing, I can't really speak to the difficulty but I image it's possible.6. You can now pay off the debt on the first day by returning to EC and collecting the bulborbs over and over again but it would take a very long time. I plan on doing this when I have nothing better to do.
Distant Spring 728 RTA Route TRR 2021-01-30 | Thanks to トオルンハート for routing ideas.Very low optimization TAS. Long sections were done on a single save state. Everything is collected besides the two flint beetles (1 pellet is collected from each). The 5 pellet from the wollywog near the 20 pellet must be slowed down with leaves/buds (if red/yellow) so that you can stop it in time.

[TAS] Pikmin - Forest of Hope with 40 pikmin on day 3 TRR 2021-01-18 | 40 pikmin is the bare minimum for clearing Forest of Hope because of the Eternal Fuel Dynamo. This may be possible on day 2 using the pellet clip at the beginning (it can't be done on day 3), but you'd need to grow an extra 10 pikmin.
Looking at MDs with hacked camera TRR 2021-01-15 | MD = "Mysterious death"Pikmin 1 has an annoying glitch where swarming pikmin around enemies (or bridges) can lead to pikmin clipping through the floor. It seems as though the most likely moment for pikmin to clip is right as an enemy dies.
Pikmin - 6 Day 71 Pikmin Completion - Day 6 Final Trial TRR 2021-01-03 | And with that, 71 is the new lowest pikmin record for a 6 day completion. It's nice that my first 6 day completion ended up being this one. As for the prospect of a sub-71 completion... I'll leave that to someone else.

Pikmin - 6 Day 71 Pikmin Completion - Day 4 Distant Spring TRR 2021-01-03 | Difficult but a bit easier than FoH and FN. I used 70 pikmin throughout since the 1 red added no value to anything and often just got in the way of things. The navigation to the island at the beginning killed a ton of attempts (trips during this section are pretty much a guaranteed reset). I encountered a glitch where the candypop bud would on occasion spit its seeds after taking in 9 pikmin instead of 10. I think it has to do with pikmin grazing the entry point and then popping out.Also the ending of this day was super crazy. I thought I blew it when I messed up the bulbear unload but I somehow managed to keep it together. Then, I ended the day with a few frames to spare. When the screen faded at the end I didn't know whether it was about to play the part collection cutscene or the end of day cutscene.
Pikmin - 6 Day 71 Pikmin Completion - Day 3 Forest Navel TRR 2021-01-01 | Another very difficult day. I think this is probably on par with FoH despite the fact that I ended early. Pellet luck is important here. The second blowhog must not drop yellows as to avoid growing an additional pikmin with breadbug, and it's necessary to get a red/yellow drop from the shearwigs to reach exactly 20 blues. The shearwig lure/kill is kind of tricky but I managed to find a mostly consistent setup for it. BLL with 50 pikmin is tough and requires some luck. ADF pushing required tons of practice and tons of attempts. Luck plays a huge role with it since you never truly know exactly how the ADF is going to be pushed (there's also a ton of setups/backups to know). Flowering at the end is not essential because the reds/yellows will be turned into blues at the beginning of DS anyway. The yellow throws at the end were extremely nerve-wracking.
Pikmin - 6 Day 71 Pikmin Completion - Day 2 Forest of Hope TRR 2020-12-26 | The current minimum pikmin record for a 6 day completion is 80 - this is an attempt to improve it. This is non-TAS and played on console. This day was extremely difficult and I did not have much time to spare. The pellet push at the beginning had to be very good in order to have a decent chance at success.
