20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Narration Live Recording 1989 widenyourworld 2023-07-08 | 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in-sub audio recorded live by me (Mike Lee) in 1989, when I was a helmsman at the attraction. This was recorded in the sail and includes all of Captain Nemo's narration, including the "all ashore" that's often missing in live audio recordings.In this recording I only spieled to guests before and after Nemo spoke all his lines so I could have a complete, uninterrupted document of how it was supposed to sound. So I edited my voice out of this version. If you wanna hear the version with me in it, make me believe it lol.

I was working at the Mansion at the time, so it was easier than just sneaking in some other way... but either way would have worked fine. I was standing below everything (on the ground floor) while Madame Leota and the ride vehicles were up on the second floor. You can hear the "rap" on the table because I was standing right next to the knocking mechanism with my recorder.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Live Audio (Submarine Organ) widenyourworld 2018-09-14 | Noisy as noise, but probably the only extended live sample of the organ in existence... recorded in an empty sub parked on the spur line during one of my breaks when I worked at the ride. You can hear that the music's a little warped, probably due to an old tape in the unit.
Carousel of Progress Now Is The Time Live Audio March 1989 widenyourworld 2018-02-10 | Once uploaded this it will be the only file on the internet that includes the entire Carousel of Progress audio cycle from its "Now Is The Time" era (1975-1993). There are source files for most of it but they don't include the soul/disco track that played as the audience transitioned from the 1970s/1980s scene to the Unload scene. I recorded this by sneaking into the Unload scene and turning on my cassette recorder before the theater started moving to the Load scene, and because of loading cycles back then I remained in an empty theater for the duration of the recording, which yielded a pretty good document of the entire show. That space was originally The Walt Disney Story (1973-1992). This video was recorded in April 1997.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Live Ride-through February 1975 widenyourworld 2017-04-30 | Jerry Klatt has captured yet ANOTHER one of his historic cassette recordings to digital and this one is so rare you'd better sit down twice before listening. The original 20K audio with multiple alternate dialogue passages, and a different organ background track, which as of the time Jerry made this recording would only last another six months, then the ride would undergo a major rehab that changed up a bunch of stuff including the in-sub audio. Thanks again Jerry for blowing our minds!

This track originally came from Spencer Cook's Virtual Toad site and I added reverb so it sounds more like it did in the attraction.

1974 WDW Home Movies widenyourworld 2015-04-26 | This is NOT my video, but something I saw years ago with the intent of linking to on WYW - but the original is no longer on YouTube! So I'm posting from my original capture but taking no credit for its existence. If you find it elsewhere online please let me know and I'll retire this version. It's low-quality but there are some great things here like the Swan Boats and Skyway. My favorite is a little bit of original 20K narration from Captain Nemo that was changed during the ride's 1975 rehab.

Pirates of the Caribbean Barker Parrot 1989 widenyourworld 2013-12-23 | This parrot was originally, in 1973, located at the point where WDW guests disembarked their boats, where it told them to watch their step on the "moving gangplank" that would take them back up to ground level. The parrot caused a backup, however, because people stopped to watch him talk. So within a couple years they moved him to the attraction's entrance where he stayed until 2006. He was moved to the World of Disney store at Downtown Disney store after that, but I don't know if he spoke in that location or if he's still there. This was one of the first times I brought a tripod to the park. The tape had degraded by the time I captured this to digital, but so far it's the most complete video of the parrot online.
