This is a prototype of sorts, and while it is perfectly servicible for first-layer bedrock breaking, moving it down will require either breaking a larger area with the previous runs of the breaker, or using a more compact breaker for the bedrock that this machine can't break. As breaking bedrock is fairly expensive post-1.12, it's recommended to do the latter. (Alternatively, a stripped-down version of this machine could be used, and the pistons/slabs manually placed and moved)
I will make a more detailed explanation video for this machine in the future. However, this is essentially just a lot of slimeblocks, pistons, observers, and miscellaneous other blocks, arranged in a somewhat disturbing and appallingly inefficient pattern.
Regarding the necessity of using pistons as 'fuel' to break bedrock, although this is a somewhat frustrating change since 1.12, I don't think this should be a major concern for the kind of server that would be using a machine like this. If you're considering building this in singleplayer, however, or on a smaller server (or, really, any server without a couple witch farms) I would strongly recommend doing the math first. (To create a 300x300 perimeter, WITHOUT taking overhead into account, would require (300*300*5/(64*9)) = 781.25 stacks of redstone blocks (28.9 chests full!)
Common Questions (for video avoiders): - Works for any bedrock layer. - Requires (1) downwards facing piston and (1) stone slab (or equivalent) as input per bedrock broken, as is the norm in post-1.12 bedrock breaking. (26gt while breaking bedrock, 10gt while returning) - Yes, it is large, and has overhead each time it is moved down (but running this at y5 does not require bedrock to be broken, unlike my previously released 1-way design) - Does not require blocks underneath the bedrock breaker. Does require slabs regardless of whether or not bedrock is underneath. Has sticky blocks at lowest level, so bedrock layer should be cleared of movable blocks. - There should already exist suitable floor placer designs which could be used to place the pistons and slabs. If not, it should be possible to create a 2-high piston/slab floorplacer to create the 'carpet' required for this machine.
Uses the G4mespeed mod by G4me4u for smooth piston animations & slower camera movement in spectator mode. This only worked for 1 cut in the entire intro, unfortunately.

This was mostly done for fun in a 'backseating' kind of way, so please avoid bothering the original creator. As mentioned in the video [unless I cut it out lol], it's not really a big deal to fake stuff like this, and it's clear that a lot of people did catch on, so I'm not too worried about a spread of misinformation. Little postmortem: I was somewhat excited to try my hand at doing an explanation video for this, as tutorials, guides, and different teaching methods in general are something that interest me a fair amount. There were a few things that I think I didn't properly account for. Although doing this video unscripted allowed me to finish it in a not horrific amount of time, it did make it very clear how difficult it can be to explain something 'on the fly'. Another problem is that several of the mechanics here only really exist as 'general knowledge' theoretically backed by a couple people's in-depth knowledge of the codebase, but don't really have defined ways of explaining/talking about them (or good resources). Other notes: - If you don't have Carpet, I don't know of a way to get normal spectators to ride minecarts; you will most likely need a mob switch (especially in the nether, where the machine will uncover many spawning spaces for Ghasts) - I think half the community is working on better versions. If the overhead cost of this (35,35,13,17) isn't up your alley, I would recommend waiting. - If you are using the player loading shown in this video and stop the machine, it will break unless you make sure to load the flying machines that fly back after the machine stops. Basically just place the redstone block, wait for the machine to return, then fly back to the return station with the miscellaneous small flying machines.

Although I'm pretty sure it's possible to move this machine back & over, I'm not sure how easy that would be or if it would be worth it to do so for this design versus a different one. Although Mojang has removed a lot of bedrock breaking technology, it seems like there are still a lot of approaches for doing so, and it stands to reason there's probably something better than this for making a 3-way breaker. At least this one is fast.
This setup is tested on Minecraft 1.15.2. It should work on any versions with honey blocks. I've also done minor testing rotating it around, which worked.
