Time was 43.43 seconds . My single lap PB at the time of publishing this video was 41.5 seconds at a practice sprint in March 2024. There's a little homage to a motorsport TV programme title sequence for those who know.

I believe there was a previous version of the colour start up that included included transmitter information on the caption board. The shortened version of the Anglia caption, sans transmitter information, was used when TV-AM started broadcasting in 1983 - see an original off air recording at:
Happy memories of the television channel that had in vision continuity as opposed to the "other side" that had the mesmerising mirror globe spinning away.
Anglia was a small ITV station, but punched above its weight. The theme tunes to Sale Of The Century and About Anglia, by Peter Fenn, are a couple of my favourites of all time.
I hope that the original start ups still exist on videotape held in the East Anglian Film Archive. The knight on the box is fondly missed, even in this digital age of the early 21st century.

The advertising agency who did this commercial left the home video editors and spoofers out in internet wonderland a bit of a gift horse here! The actual ad is at the end so that VW get a free plug (bet I won't get a free Golf though!).Goodbye Buzz (The Airline)EuropaSman2013-05-23 | Another home movie of mine; a tribute I made in 2003 to a low cost airline I worked for. It was very original when I got it, like the tiny rubbers at the top of the door quarter lights, a rubber seal on the nearside sill and a radio speaker in the glove compartment on the passenger side. Anything that wasn't original was changed to be as close to original as possible (like the rev counter which had been changed by a previous owner to an earlier one with an orange needle). The only concessions to modernity were radial tyres (yes it had Goodyear cross plies on when I got it!), a full stainless steel exhaust system and a Radiomobile car radio converted to FM.
Sadly the car is no longer registered in the UK, but was exported according to the DVLA website. I hope it's still being driven around and being enjoyed, wherever it has ended up.

I had it fitted with a full stainless steel Larini sports exhaust system. The car did not have a "de-cat" as I decided to keep the primary catalytic converter.
It was a good system as it was not "in your face" whilst pootling around town but did certainly let you know that a Lotus was coming if a bit of "welly" is used.
By the way I was not pushing the car to its fullest extent in the video as I was on public roads and respect other road users.
No traffic laws were broken during the making of this video - I stuck to the speed limit!
