You can use a pair of 12 volt larger sized Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS batteries with 40 Amp hour which in parallel configuration goes up to 80 Ah. For reference an optima yellow top battery is 72 Amp hour.

Sizes:
• Each side was designed for a small 6-volt style battery, but by that time Porsche fitted two 12-volt units in parallel (one in each side box) instead of a single large battery.
• The wells are roughly 7 x 7 inches (about 180 x 180 mm) with limited depth, so only a very compact 12-volt battery would fit.
• The group sizes that most closely match today are around DIN 41/42 (European small case), or in U.S. sizing, something near Group 22NF — but even those can be a tight squeeze.
Why Porsche did this:
1. Weight distribution: Porsche was chasing handling balance. Two small batteries, one in each front corner, offset the rear-biased weight of the flat-six. Spreading the batteries apart improved front-end balance, especially for the 911’s tendency toward oversteer.
2. Packaging constraints: The narrow “long hood” front trunk of the ’72-’73 didn’t have much spare room. Splitting the battery into two smaller units allowed Porsche to use existing chassis geometry without enlarging or reshaping the front tub.
3. Electrical load at the time. The cars didn’t require the same cold-cranking amps as later models (smaller alternators, fewer accessories), so two small 12V units were enough.
By 1974, Porsche redesigned the front structure (with crash bumpers and a different inner tub), and they moved to a single larger 12-volt battery tray on the right side that are easier, cheaper, and more compatible with modern batteries.
1. Wheel Spacer Removal (rear hubs)
930s came with factory 21 mm rear spacers to widen track and fit the Turbo flares.
• After removing the wheel, you’ll find the spacer sitting over the studs.
• The spacer is just a slip-on piece, not bolted.
• Often it’s stuck in place from years of corrosion and dirt. It will be hard to see that it is aluminum if it's oxidized like the rotor.
• Spray some penetrating oil (PB Blaster, Kroil, etc.) around the hub/spacer joint.
• Use a rubber mallet or dead-blow hammer to tap around the spacer evenly while turning the rotor with your hand.
• If really seized, use two flat pry bars 180° apart and work slowly to walk it off the hub.
• Clean the hub face with a wire brush before reassembly.
2. Rear Brake Rotor Removal
The rotor is held in place by one or two small screws with a Phillips #3 head.
Steps:
1. Remove the wheel and spacer as per above.
2. Unbolt the rear brake caliper (two 19 mm bolts at the back).
• Hang the caliper securely with wire or a bungee — don’t let it dangle on the brake lines!
3. Remove the screws and pull the rotor off the hub.
• If it’s stuck, spray penetrating oil around the hub center. Also you can put a screwdriver into a slot at the rear to un-expand the parking brake.
• Tap gently on the rotor hat with a rubber mallet to break it free.
4. On the 930, the rotor is integrated with the rear hub on some years, but most ’78–’89 cars have separate rotors. If yours doesn’t budge, it might be pressed/rusted to the hub flange.
⚠️ Note: Behind the rear rotor is the drum-style parking brake assembly. Be careful not to damage the shoes or springs when removing the rotor. You can find the slotted screw and turn this with a flat headed screwdriver to compress it.
3. Tips
• If you plan to reinstall the rotor, check for cracks, rotor thickness and runout.
• Always torque wheel lugs to spec (94 ft-lbs on 930).
• Consider applying a thin coat of anti-seize on the hub face before putting the aluminum spacer back, so it’s not a pain next time.

1. Check your raw water pump on the PTO (the opposite of transmission) to make sure the rubber pump splines are intact.
2. Check the bottom input side of the transmission cooler with your fingers to feel if there is rubber bits from a past perished pump, or lake debris blocking the input. Remove the top of the hose too and look through it with a light shining from the bottom.
3. If your bottom pickup has a water strainer, then check for algae inside of that - as you can see mine is cleaned up and it was still overheating.
4. Check to see if your steel reinforced pickup hose has perished due to heat and oil in the hull. My inner portion of the hose was collapsing and the outer side looked fine!
The hose delaminated from the two halves and suction from the raw water pump was pulling the hose closed which caused the engine to overheat and go into limp mode after driving in warm water for a while. Idle and low speed was fine, so this was a hard one to figure out!

You can try spraying something like PB Blast or WD40 in there, but that may only get you back to port. Eventually it will break the gears on your steering wheel output shaft or the cable itself which will leave you stranded!
Here's the quick way to fix your steering in a MasterCraft or Ski Nautique with a Domestic SS141 series cable. These come in 14-20 foot lengths. My boat is a X Star which is 20' 6" LOA which comes with a 19' steering cable. My local boat shop only had a 20' in stock, which works fine, but shows a little inside the starboard front bunk.
I route my cables on top of the fuel tank, which is much easier than fighting the ribs under the fuel tank, and doesn't require you to remove the carpet. Note, I tried a 16' steering cable initially, but that did not fit. I assumed the extra length gained by running on top of the fuel tank would allow that to fit, but it didn't!
The part number is 93020722700 and has been superseded to 93020722702 which has the vacuum line on the side, vs the top, but that one requires a new mount, and runs about $100 for both pieces at the time I recorded this. Those numbers go up all of the time.
So I was thinking "what is that 2.8mm diameter for the vacuum hose and has a hole in the middle?" Turns out the guts of a pen had the right stuff for the fix.

This 2 minute spot was a call to download the software to decode the codes from print and broadcast and dates back to the year 2000.
I’ve done this on boat exhaust manifolds, and anything with a metal chamber which could have cracks or pin holes.
This prevents the need for building a plate to fit to the surface of oddly shaped vessels which you would need to do in order to test pressure with air or water.
Just know that acetone evaporates quickly and take that into consideration!
You can also reuse it, just mark the bottle that it’s used acetone so you don’t get debris on new paint work!
No longer sold, you can find them usually for a few hundred dollars but it can be thousands to replace the engine and get them going again. But when you do, like I did here, they really rip!
The trick is make sure the that the dimple in one side of the rubber fits the profile of the lamp housing.
See inside on how to stick it together and my favorite glue is the Permatex Yellow rubber adhesive. It’s like rubber cement with a bite!
The heads and blocked were cracked and this required a full engine block replacement.
Since the engine was run with a cracked block, water was introduced from the cooling system into the oil. The engine runs, but it is compromised as the oil is mostly water. This will ruin the rings, score the cylinders and of course rust the crank.

This pitting caused this fan belt to be 1/4 of the size it should have been and caused the engine to run warm.
In this video we repair the fan pulley because of its expense and buy a new pulley for the outer half.

This will start rusting the bolt and then rust out your buckets so you want to keep water out of there and not let it collect.
Here’s what the painter did incorrectly and how properly route the wires for the headlamp, drawing plug and the turn signals on G body 911s .
The parts you need are:
Drain plug: 911.631.259.02
Headlamp USA plug: 911.631.108.00
Thin headlamp bezel gasket: 911.631.115.02
You’ll need to use brake cleaner or a bit of sandpaper to scuff the paint down to bare metal so they don’t gum-up your pads.

Here's a way to use whatever materials you have in your shop to help hold the rear seat-back hooks on the panels which have invariably been de-laminated and have come off over the years...
It's an easy fix, just replace the glue with a stronger epoxy that you can mix up and paste on. Make sure you put the hooks "down" so they connect onto the seats in the proper manner. Good luck on this simple repair!

Here are some tips you can use to look at a vehicle from the top side to see if it’s been in an accident.
Also, for older cars without wheel linings, you can put your hands inside the wheel wells and feel for through hole rust, or rust coming up from the bottom of the floors, etc.
To get everything working correctly there is a sequence of events that you need to reassemble the parts in, for the puzzle to fit.
Here are my steps and a quick video to show you.
1. Outer door felt. Use pliers to push the clips into the holes
2. Connect latch rods for the lock and the internal handle to the latch
3. Install the latch with the single screw facing up. Wiggle the latch though the hole in the door to get it in.
4. Route the rods tor the lock and door pull through the rubber guides into the door metal. Bolt down the door lock swivel after you put the threaded rod into the door grommet for the lock plastic.
5. Put the window regulator down (horizontal in nature) in through the large slot at the bottom of the door.
6. Feed the glass with the left mechanism inside the door and put it at an angle so you can slide the window guides onto the regulator.
7. Mount the regulator where it needs to be and the glass will follow.
8. Slide in the front vent window if you have a targa, then slide the rear guide in or the single glass window frame for normal tops. Loosely tighten until you install so you can get the proper angle orientation.
9. Roll the window up and install the door handle from the outside. Press down on the V mechanism to fit it over the door lock peg.
10. Tighten everything up once you check the window glass angles. You can tighten the glass to the body by adjusting the frame.
11. Install the inner door window felt toward the inside so it touches the glass and then install the vapor barrier and door panels.

The solution? Put a socket or slug of metal between the oval where the pin slides and the trailer hitch arm mounts. You may need a friend to hold it there as you apply reverse pressure; then have them get out of the way as you back up.
It's a simple fix to the problem of backing up with working trailer brakes...
When I found out there was a protest at a Dallas Walmart in October 2005 that was piloting RFID technology that they were using for pallets, I decided I too would PRO-test. That's show up and talk about the PROs of RFID... I created signs to promote the technology and was the only "marcher" in the for vs against category.
It got a bit too religious with the other marchers, but the story unfold in a way I could never predict... My old host on TXCN, where I previously had a technology segment for years came out to do a story for WFAA on the protesters and said "thank God you're here to breath some sense into this story." It was a good laugh for me, and RFID and other wireless technologies haven't slowed their march.

Now this is a brilliant representation of what it takes to make a lightweight, precision "only boiled down to what is needed" racing chassis. And I want one.

These can leak on the PTO side and slowly fill your bilge. This video shows you the common copper washer that most people forget and the order of the parts to put the pump together the correct way from the rebuild kit!
You can buy these parts much cheaper piece by piece, or get a kit the next time you replace your impeller and install them all at once.
It’s best to be safe and carry the impeller on your boat with you, in case it shreds due to dirt from the lake! If you have a raw water screener that helps to keep things clean on the input side.
Oh, one cool thing to know, the impeller can accept input water though either port, so you can connect the hoses in a more natural way, like raw on the bottom and output on the top to keep things clean and kink free below your motor.
The original part number 420431680 has been superseded to 420431682, which is a green gasket and is .5 MM thicker.
It’s a simple replacement but you need an E8 torx socket to remove the plastic water pump, some lock tite to reinstall it and will need to remove your air intake box to make room inside the hull.

If your Spark is blowing glycol antifreeze over the port side of the
block, oil filter housing and battery this could be the culprit.
If it’s on the starboard side, there is a similar issue on the water pump gasket. And that’s another video from another guy.
