In its books and stories and the marks of history, we catch glimpses of other worlds, other spaces that we might never see realized in an official capacity. Lucky for us, there are some dedicated people out there working to realize more of this world. *Note: I sometimes refer to the mods as “The Project Tamriel” mods, when I mean all three. PT and TR are distinct projects, to be clear. There’s just not a succinct way of invoking all of them at once, other than I guess calling them the “Tamriel_data mods” but that would require explaining.

Civ VII has shaken up the series, once again, though perhaps more than any entry before it, and as a veteran of the Civ V launch wars, that's saying something. If you've found your way to the description, congrats, your reward is that I'll answer any particular questions you have about the game, and I'm mostly likely to notice if they start with "Q:" sort of like an interview, i.e. "Q: How long did the ages take?" EU5, by nature of bringing in more complex elements (population and logistics being the biggest ones) has an opportunity to transform the series. I cut a whole section on the nature of bad faith critique because it became a tedious roundabout of exonerating Diamond against the claims of random internet weirdos who said they had PhDs and were bothered by his work, but started casting shadows of things Diamond simply did not say, and it was……. Applebaum: historynewsnetwork.org/article/169438 Note: I've just remembered that the person I have in there for a critique of Applebaum has some... curious theories himself and while not a discredited academic, probably shouldn't be the final word on her questionable credibility. To that end I've included another source below from the trusted (and frequently cited) historian economist Stephen G Wheatcroft.

I thought I'd shine a light on this unique space, a non-state with the second highest taxes in the nation, for the arguably lowest benefits (aside from literal colonies...). The intersection of voter suppression and labor rights is, as much as it is a problem created by bipartisan effort, one that ought upset all sides of the political arena.
The fight for a fair wage is of critical importance throughout the country, but especially in a place like DC where economic disparity cuts deep, and often cuts along racially constructed socio-economic lines.
**For those wondering about the "reupload" --its been a plan of mine for a long while to redo my first video as a bit of an exploration on how style has changed and formed since starting my channel. Part of it is also that I found the original a little grating not just in quality but in tone, so I've changed that as well. You're more than welcome to skip this if you watched the original, there's not a ton of new info in there, aside from that Initiative 77 lives on in spirit through a newly passed ballot initiative of the same nature, with an even wider vote margin. ____________________________________________________ Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:37 Early DC history 08:41 Contemporary DC history 15:06 Save Our Tips 23:57 Voter Nullification 31:22 Conclusion 34:27 Outro _________________________________ Links mentioned in the video:

there is a secret hidden in this video c:The Vic 3 Superconfederacy Bug and why its interesting #shorts #victoria3Rosencreutz2022-11-02 | A full video about the way this game explores history through mechanics is coming soon, but for now here's a short on the Superconfederacy bug from the launch era.
For now, there's also this video with some of my thoughts on the game: youtu.be/zGVjUEVppkg

This is far more game analysis than review, so look elsewhere if you want an out-of-ten rating or a gameplay discussion.
Thanks Paradox for giving me some new font files to use c:
And, for now, for a review, there's a (ugh) 5 hour stream VOD: youtu.be/-L14nqm-lLc I might upload a trimmed version at some point, but that might be tedious to make. ______________ Intro: 00:00 Addressing Critique 03:07 Those who do not know history 06:55 Are doomed to repeat it 10:03 Westernization 12:40 Conclusion 17:24 Outro 20:21Britain Privatized ImmigrationRosencreutz2022-10-10 | Migration to the UK has been made intensely difficult due to the involvement of a private company with some...interesting business practices that have left many desperate people in a bad way.

Civilization as a series, as iterations of this narrative, and as a game, by design has to have its history “end.”
Something I’ve attempted to highlight in this broader series is that our telling of history is precisely that, a telling, a narrative, and as such, the ways we tell history deserve critique and inspection. One of the features of narrativization that seeps its way into our consciousness is that history has an endpoint. And so we come to Fukuyama. ________________________________ 00:00 Intro 02:31 The End of History 14:17 The End of Civilization (the game) 21:16 The End of Narratives 28:32 The End of the End 32:13 The End (Outro) 33:53 secret ______________________________ Source for the map (if you still play Civ 3 and haven't heard about it) is Kal El’s 180x180 Earth: forums.civfanatics.com/threads/kal-els-180x180-earth.25101

Map background used: loc.gov/item/2009579466Civilization 6 and The Fate of EmpiresRosencreutz2022-04-19 | The Fate of Empires by John Glubb is a work that has managed to pervade many discussions of history, casual and academic, despite lacking the rigor of a genuine academic undertaking. I thought I'd explore that while also going over what the actual "fall" of empires looks like, while also exploring Civilization 6's approach to "falls." It was a tough call between using Civ and Age of Empires to demonstrate this, but I think AoE kind of lacks mechanics that really show downturns. You just lose when some guy converts your catapult to Christianity and it betrays you.
Thanks to the people who've been engaging with my work. Part of me generally assumed I was being too stubborn and niche when I decided to critique strategy games for their history, but apparently this work appeals to some people out there, which is great.
At this point, I'm fairly certain there won't be a 100 sub Q&A because I'm already past 200 by a little.
Oh also I forgot to ask people to subscribe or whatever, so maybe it still counts if I do it here, 500 words deep into a description.

"Byzantine Empire" is a term you might hear from time to time, and, if it's your first time hearing about it, they might seem to come out of nowhere. I mean, Greek Empire, you know who the Greeks are, Roman Empire you know who the Romans are, Arabian Empire, you know of modern day Arabs. But who are the Byzantines? Why do we call them that? It has everything to do with medieval politics.
I thought I would try and up the production values for this one/alter the process a bit. At the risk of spoiling the video, I think the game does a decent job avoiding the problem too much, but it does fall into some pits. As far as Paradox grand strategy games go, I think this one does a decent job, even with the "pause" in support.
Let me know what you think. Or comment some random questions, I've got a Q&A planned and I'm open to stuff that goes way off topic even. Sorry if trying to be funny was actually a terrible idea. But also you can't stop me. I am Cringe and I am free. Also, let me know if I've missed a better term for this phenomena. Instead, we land somewhere much closer to Material history. This is the (possibly awaited) bonus episode for the playlist, which, at this point should probably just be considered a normal episode, but alas. You'll see why it doesn't quite fit in, as well as why it had to be a bit longer than the others.
Materialist History is the sister social science to Social History, and as such, there's a lot of overlap. Hopefully that keeps things more interesting rather than just feeling redundant. I had to touch on a lot of other games for this one, but thankfully most were already in the playlist. (Sorry to anyone baffled by Stronghold 3's existence).
Also, I want to mention here that I've got over 100 subs now and I'd like to do a Q&A so, if you've got any questions in mind, on the topic of history or just random whatevers, ask away below and I'll do my best to respond in a Q&A and "housekeeping" vid. There will also be a twitch stream maybe in the foreseeable future, so let me know if that sounds interesting too.

Crusader Kings 3 has its fair share of historical blurring and serves as a guide for talking about the broader concept of myth with King Arthur as our central figure.

With Humankind (the game) we get a glimpse through the social history lens, looking at history as more the story of People, rather than heroes and governments. Humankind is, as a game, far less interested in “Great Men” than Europa Universails or Civilization, and in that way, deviates from the broader genre.Next up after this one is a bonus episode going into greater detail about the form of the broader genre and how we play these games, how we can’t help but play them.
