Yawheh defeats the great dragon of Egypt, but the Biblical authors write later of a new and greater exodus in which a larger, more powerful dragon will be defeated once and for all by having its skull crushed. As Christians, we know this dragon is Satan, who was defeated through the power of the Cross and the reign of King Jesus. This dragon/dragon slayer motif fills the theme of redemption found in the scriptures in which YHVH stands in victory over His enemies as He redeemed all nations with the power of His right hand.Join us as we unpack the rich symbolism and profound truths embedded in the Exodus story and discover how the message of the Passover story still applies to believers in Jesus today. Under his rule, King Josiah made major religious reforms to restore the worship of the Lord in Israel, a feat that would come to shape the nation’s faith. During his reign, Josiah was killed in battle at Megiddo, a city that, in the book of Revelation, is known to be the site of the battle at Armageddon. In this sermon, we will explore Josiah’s impact on the Israelite faith and how it relates to Armageddon's prophecy. Join us as we trace the history of King Josiah and his lasting influence on faith.King Josiah reigned from 640 to 609 BC and was the last king of the House of David in the Kingdom of Judah. He ascended to the throne at age eight and reigned for 31 years during the end of the 7th century BC. He was the son of King Amon and the first king of the Southern Kingdom of Judah. He was succeeded by King Jehoiakim, and the next king of the House of David was Zedekiah. King Josiah is credited as one of the most influential figures in the ancient world as he is one of the most renowned kings in history. He is remembered for his religious reforms of the worship of Yahweh and his revitalization of the Jewish faith. His reign is considered a high point in ancient Jewish history and is still celebrated today. His story is an inspiration to many and a reminder of the power of faith and dedication.Armageddon, a term so well known that it has become a part of our everyday language, was first derived from the name of a city located in the Jezreel Valley of Northern Israel. The name of this city is Tel Megiddo, and it has a long and interesting history. For centuries, this city has been the site of many battles, and it holds an important place in the Bible. It is believed that the term Armageddon, which is a symbolic place of great destruction and conflict, was derived from the name of this city. In this article, we will explore the history of Tel Megiddo and how it gave rise to the term Armageddon. We will also discuss the various battles that have been fought there and the significance of Tel Megiddo in the Bible.Megiddo, meaning “the end” or “the place of the end,” is a mound in Israel that has been the site of many ancient battles. It is located about 50 miles north of Jerusalem in the Jezreel Valley, nestled between the ridges of Mount Carmel to the south and Mount Gilboa to the north. This mound is believed to be the site of the ancient city of Megiddo and, more importantly, the “Armageddon” that is spoken of in the Bible. The history of this mound is long and interesting, dating back to the Bronze Age. In the 13th century B.C.E., Canaanites built a city on this mound and called it “the Town of the Great King.” They called the city Megiddo, which they believed to be the end of the world. The city was later conquered by the Egyptians and the Israelites, who renamed the city “the Town of the Way of the Sea.” The city also changed hands throughout the Persian, Greek, Hasmonean, and Roman rule, and it was conquered by various Muslim leaders. The city was finally destroyed around 1219 C.E. when the Egyptian sultan Saladin (d. 1193) conquered it during the Crusades. The mound of Megiddo was used as a caravansary under Egyptian rule, was a Crusader fortress under the rule of the Knights Hospitaler, and was a site of pilgrimage for the Jews and Muslims. Tel Megiddo is mentioned in the Bible nine times, three of which occur in the New Testament. Megiddo first appears in the Bible in the book of Judges 5:19, when the victory of the Israelite judge Barak over the Canaanite king of Megiddo, Sisera, is described. Next, Megiddo is mentioned in the book of Hosea 10:9, in which God describes the ancient Israelites’ worship of idols as the “whoring” of the people. Judah had become so immersed in idolatry and was so confused about who their God was that they entertained other Gods and even worshipped Asherah as the wife of YHVH. Sometimes we become so familiar with idols that we don't even recognize we've been sitting on the fence about truly being dedicated to God. How long will we refuse to give all our allegiance to God?Later in the story of Judah, a righteous king named Josiah comes to power. Josiah destroyed the idols, temples, and high places Judah had built and was primarily on a mission to eliminate all of the Asherah idols in the land. In this message, we will discuss what established Hanukkah as a festival, a Jewish sect that protested its aftermath, and what Yeshua has to say about bringing light to the world instead of isolating yourself. Why Do We Bless Our Sons as Ephraim and Manasseh? | The Blessing of Ephraim | Make Them as Ephraim Founded In Truth 2022-11-30 | Why do we bless our sons as Ephraim and Manasseh?In Genesis 48:20, we find the blessing Jacob bestows upon Joseph's sons after he legally adopts them as his own. Genesis 48:20 He blessed them that day and said,“In your name will Israel pronounce this blessing: ‘May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.’” So he put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.The verse follows the section of Jacob establishing Ephraim and Manasseh, his grandchildren, as his own sons so that they would receive equal parts of his inheritance, have a bounty, and be blessed, and he goes on to say they will be numerous, and fruitful in their lives. Jacob then suggests future generations shall bless their sons in the same manner. This is where the tradition of blessing your sons, as Ephraim and Manasseh, comes from, and its meaning is to wish fruitfulness and success from God in all that they do.
YOU ARE MINE - Adoption in the Bible, in Christ, and in Mission | Ancient Near Eastern Adoption Founded In Truth 2022-11-26 | In the story of the Bible, there are multiple accounts of adoptions taking place. From Esther being taken in by her uncle to go on and become queen to Jacob, demonstrating an ancient Mesopotamian adoption ceremony with Ephraim and Manasseh. The theme of adoption reaches an eschatological scope in the book of Ezekiel when nations are declared to become sons of YHVH, becoming rightful heirs alongside Israel. This message explores why God is so passionate about orphans, adoption, and Israel’s mandate. We also analyze Paul’s language used to describe all believers who find themselves saved in the arms of God.When the Code of Hammurabi, a famous ancient Babylonian law code, was discovered in 1901, we find adoption legislation and a procedure of what takes place when a father declares an orphan child “his.” We also have prescriptions from Middle Assyrian Laws, the Nuzi tablets, and legislation discovered in Ugarit. So, when we come to the story of the Bible and find Jacob sitting Ephraim and Manasseh on his knee and declaring them “mine,” it is by no means a coincidence. Jacob seems to be initiating a legal protocol of adoption. We find the subject of adoption throughout the Biblical narrative, often through passionate declarations made by YHVH Himself. From the controversial threats in Exodus 22 to the eschatological proclamations in Ezekiel 47, where gentiles will be adopted as His children, receiving inheritance alongside Israel. Why does God have such a heart toward adoption and orphans in the Bible, and what does he call believers to do in response?After this week’s message, we will demonstrate the same legal adoption ceremony described in the Code of Hammurabi and in the Biblical text as Matthew Vander Els follows this prescription for his daughter, Evelyn. All Will Know YHVH? - Gratitude and Generosity in the New Covenant People | Jeremiah 31 Prophecy Founded In Truth 2022-11-19 | In Jeremiah 31, the prophet is told by God that a new covenant will be made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. This covenant will not be like the covenant God made with the Israelites when He rescued them from Egypt in the Exodus account. This covenant will be something new, like nothing that has ever been seen in the Biblical story. This covenant will not fail because it is based on the measure of God's forgiveness as opposed to Israel's obedience. This New Covenant will produce humanity whose hearts beat God's love, generosity, gratitude, and grace. Jeremiah goes on to state that when this happens, all will know Him, which has been a verse of discussion for centuries. What if "all" knowing YHVH has nothing to do with acknowledging God's existence; instead, it means something far more impactful? This week, we discuss what caused Israel to break the covenant made during the Exodus from Eygpt and how, as followers of Yeshua, or Jesus, we can choose to fulfill the prophecy of "knowing YHVH."In this message, we answer questions like "are we in the New Covenant?", "Did Jesus bring in the New Covenant?" and "what is the new covenant?" A Worthier Cause - An Armistice Day Meditation | Remembrance Day | WW1 | Civil War | Veterans Day Founded In Truth 2022-11-12 | We all want to make our lives count for something. That’s why warriors pledge their lives and their honor to something greater than themselves. Yet how do they know what cause is right? What do they do when that cause fails or proves itself dishonorable? More importantly, what does this mean for those who follow the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? What happens when the Kingdom calling of God’s people clashes with the demands of the earthly kingdoms where we now live? These are questions to ponder at this season when we honor those who have served their nations.Join us this Saturday, November 12th, for a special Armistice Day Event by Lt. Col. (Ret), Al McCarn at Founded in Truth Fellowship. We will begin services at 11:00 AM EST, and we look forward to fellowship, worship, and reflecting on WW1, the American Civil War, and all wars fought by soldiers sent into them.Founded in Truth Fellowship is a Messianic Church located at 1689 Springsteen Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
