Music Video Demo Colorization 35s akkidnva 2020-12-30 | Colorized using only 9 keyframes! Previously I had used A LOT but I find that small imperfections do not effect overall color effect as much as I thought. Still not perfect and it would look nearly perfect with 2-3 additional keyframes. I also found some improvements to workflow in premiere to make colorization simpler and less time consuming. I may post a tutorial soon about how to do this in depth.

I was undecided which one looked better so I uploaded both. The original has a bit more detail but I guess overall this looks slightly better.Film from the Mutoscope and Biograph collection. Taken in 1897 somewhere near a highway in Hungary.Finally finished with this one, took a week or so of on and off work. This was a LOT tougher than I thought it would be. The smoke was causing a lot of issues with color separation in Ebsynth and even deep exemplar was struggling. You may notice it on the left with the two women on the left dancing. There are some other imperfections as well but I am satisfied with it now.

Battleship Odin with All Her Guns in Action (1900) (Colorized/50fps) akkidnva 2020-12-24 | Colorized and Interpolated to 50 fps. This one is a bit messy and rushed but I really wanted to see what I could do with this.This video comes from the Biograph and Mutoscope collection and was taken in the Summer (probably) of 1900 in Germany. The SMS Odin was a coastal defense ship commissioned in 1896 and scrapped in 1935. Colorized using Photoshop, Ebsynth, deep exemplar video colorization, and premiere pro with some masking for areas that looked weird.
Colorized China Footage (1902-1940s?) akkidnva 2020-12-11 | This method requires more work than the pure AI method but I think the colorization looks a lot better than simply using DeOldify.I used a combination of ebsynth, photoshop, deepremaster, and deoldify (myheritage) in order to colorize this footage. Thank you to Garrett Gilchrist for his video series on this: youtube.com/watch?v=EMIoHwOA8jQUnfortunately I lost a lot of quality when I initially encoded the black and white video which is why the colorized video is not as sharp as the BW. I also made a few mistakes with the skin tone being a tad too dark and some colors looking off. I'm going to refine this method later and apply to more BW videos in the future.Source is from BFI China on Film trailer which I can no longer find on the web. The only clip that I know the year of is the very first one, the rest are probably from the 1920s-1940s

I would like to thank all the enthusiasts from YouTube especially Mr. Boyd Kelly (airboyd of YouTube) which I used their best fragments to make this special Kai Tak video.Kai Tak Airport (1925 - 1998) "traditional Chinese: 啟德機場" was the world's busiest international airport. The growth of Hong Kong put a strain on the airport's capacity. The airport was designed to handle 24 million passengers per year but in 1996, Kai Tak had already handled 29.5 million passengers, plus 1.56 million tonnes of freight, making it the third busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic, and first in terms of cargo. However extremely busy Kai Tak was located in the city center, the Kowloon City "九龍城" (The city of nine dragons "city surrounded by nine mountains"), around by high density buildings, numerous skyscrapers and rugged mountains reaching an altitude of 2000 ft. with only one narrow runway (very close to the taxiway on the left) jutting out into Victoria Harbour, and further less than 10 Km is Hong Kong Island, another densely populated areas with hills up to 2100 ft., the airport was infamously difficult to land at. However, due to the same reason, only experience pilots were chosen for the challenging approach and air crash incidents rarely occur.The low altitude manoeuvre was so spectacular that crowded streets of people, multi-storey buildings, vehicles and pavements can easily be "touch", some passengers even claimed to have witnessed the flickering of televisions through apartment windows as their aircraft approached the airport's landing strip. In this video, you can found the most extremely landing, but it's just the real daily life of Hong Kong people.
