Plaintiff's counsel wished to illustrate to the jury that the pilot had not caused the accident and that mechanical failure of key instruments during a flight that eventually encountered hazardous weather conditions was to blame.Phase 1, Pre-Visualization and Measurement:Fearless Eye obtained FAA flight path data, air traffic control voice transcripts, and audio recordings, and combined them in correct sequence. 3D topographical maps were created from USGS surveys and flight path indication points were overlaid. An accurate model of the Cessna airplane was also produced.Phase 2, Visualizations Produced:After combining all relevant data provided by plaintiff's engineers, a series of 3D animations was produced illustrating the airplane's flight path, highlighting key points in the flight in which loss of ground control was made evident by radio silence and erratic flight behavior. Dramatic changes in course heading as well as altitude were also illustrated by this methodology. Superimposed text display and simultaneous playback of flight recordings during the animations produced a comprehensive record of events for the jury.

Sinkhole - Superfund Site Fearless Eye 2016-06-16 | Description:Extensive mining in the midwest has led to the formation of sinkholes as the structures below ground crumble. In many cases the waste from these mines now threatens the ground water as these sinkholes encroach on old mining landfills.Fearless Eye traveled to this sinkhole to aerial map and inspect the geology for the geologists and engineers tasked with monitoring and remediating this sinkhole as it expands. Using a UAV we were able to fly down into the hole and take high resolution photos and video of the visible strata, allowing the experts to view the rock in great detail from a safe distance. They were also provided with a high resolution geo-reference othromosaic, a dense point cloud of the area, CAD drawings, contour maps and a 3D triangle mesh to use in their computer projection models.

The SUV pulls onto the shoulder, but the tractor trailer stops near an onramp, blocking the right lane of traffic. Before emergency vehicles can arrive, a small sedan, not seeing the stopped trailer in her lane, rear ends the semi. This collision leaves her vehicle partially blocking the second lane of travel, where she is hit by another tractor trailer, sending her car spinning under the first trailer.
Railroad Collision - Midland, TX Fearless Eye 2016-06-14 | During a parade, a flatbed semi tractor trailer carrying veterans was struck by a locomotive. Fearless Eye travel to the site of the collision and documented the crossing, truck and locomotive using a total station, a laser scanner, photos and video. A 3D model of the area was produced and 3D models of the truck and locomotive were added. Using the locomotive video, a police dash camera, and a camera attached to another float, we were able to animate all of the vehicles on the scene, as well as, the locomotive and the crossing arms to illustrate the exact timing of the collision.
Vacuum Air Flow and Fire Fearless Eye 2016-06-14 | Description:A Timet employee was instructed to use a standard ShopVac vacuum to clean out a build up of titanium residue that had built up in the ducts over time. The dryer that was supposed to keep the titanium dry was not working properly, so the employee tried to vacuum up wet titanium, which produces hydrogen gas and is very flammable. When the nozzle of the ShopVac hose disturbs the smoldering nest of titanium, exposing it to the air and releasing hydrogen gas into the duct system. The hydrogen gas is ignited by the now exposed embers and explodes and travels through the duct system.Visualizations Produced:An exemplar ShopVac was scanned with a 3D laser scanner and the Timet plant was modeled from cad and photos. The plaintiff claimed that the arc from the ShopVac's universal motor ignited the gas, however upon further inspection it's clear that the fire came from above, in the duct work, as opposed to from the ShopVac below
