Great sound quality on this show taken from the Yeah! Tour. Either a soundboard, or an IEM matrix. Have always enjoyed hearing Promises live as in my opinion still a contender to be put in the live set. Promises was rotated in the set from 2002 to 2006. It would be brought back out in 2013 for the first Las Vegas residency per Ded Flatbird. Was lucky enough to hear this performed live here in Indianapolis last year at Lucas Oil Stadium as well. Excellent quality recording thanks to Steve 'ballsdeep' Hagar, and mastering by Dennis Orr. Tesla are playing a special new years eve show heading into 1993 on the Psychotic Supper Tour. Song & Emotion was commonly played for the headlining shows as I understand it. This song was written and dedicated to Steve Clark of Def Leppard who passed away on January 8th, 1991. Personally for myself this track sends chills down my spine and is a memory of Steve. The Tesla boys are so down to earth, and as good as they come from the 80's hard rock scene. Was fortunate enough to witness Tesla perform this in 2017. Very surreal to the fact that they knew Steve and were friends. Give this one a listen on the Tesla boys for Steve and enjoy please. Great sounding show from the first UK leg of the Hysteria Tour. These shows were quite different compared to what the shows would become by the end of the tour in my opinion. This was the 2nd of three consecutive nights at Hammersmith. Big thanks to maffin for the transfer, and tonsofsobs for the tracking and editing.The band sound pretty good, but a little tight, or stiff as well. For sure still working in the new material while on their home turf, but also bringing out some welcome surprises. Standout tracks of the lot would be Billy's Got a Gun, Armageddon It, Don't Shoot Shotgun, and Wasted. Hysteria and Armageddon It would swap every show for this leg. Decent quality recording considering the age. For some reason the High and Dry era shows mostly have average or below average sound quality. Leppard are playing two new tracks from the recent release between Lady Strange and Mirror Mirror. Mirror Mirror did not get as much exposure on this tour as Leppard were mostly openers. Ironically the next show they added Let It Go & Promises. I think Joe does a great job here all things considered. The song is full on and is probably tougher for him to sing as time goes on. Def Leppard - Rock Of Ages (Extended) Glasgow 1992 Audio - Good Sound The White Lightning 2022-04-02 | Read Me - Recorded on June 21st, 1992 @ Hall 4 in Glasgow Secc in Glasgow, Scotland. Good sound from an early UK in the round show, this one in particular was a request for a viewer. These shows were somewhat of a more significant stature and status for the band I believe at the time. The original in the round stage during the Hysteria era was too heavy to be utilized in the UK until the Adrenalize stage/era. Brought up the conversation as well during this era that the extended singalong for ROA was only played @ the ITR shows prior to the band opening with Let's Get Rocked. Once they open with LGR Photograph was the closer and ROA shifted a few slots up and the was the regular running time. Whereas this show they open with Stagefright and close with the extended ROA, very satisfying imo.. Wish they would bring something like this back, great audience interaction with the band. Def Leppard - Demolition Man/Women Osaka 1999 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2022-01-31 | Read Me - Recorded on September 26th, 1999 @ Koseinenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan. Great sound quality. Leppard rolling out a new track from Euphoria and leading into Women after. Women had not been played since the Adrenalize tour in 1993. Really dig the slightly extended intro with Sav rockin the pedals, great sound. I believe Viv had a writing credit on Demolition and was blamed in a cheeky way for the upbeat/fast tempo that really challenges the vocals. Would have loved to possibly see more exposure from this album, but as we gradually travel from one release to another the amount of new material that gets played dwindles, honestly would make for an interesting conversation/chat.
John Mellencamp - Aint Even Done With The Night Bloomington 1984 (HQ FM Audio) The White Lightning 2022-01-24 | Read Me - Recorded on April 10th, 1984 @ the Indiana University Auditorium in Bloomington, Indiana. Great sounding show. I have a really big soft spot for John Mellencamp and as a Hoosier myself I enjoy him as a singer/songwriter. One of if not my favorite track by him. After the early 80's John's style and approach to songs changed, but his earlier material is just as strong as what he is known for. Mötley Crüe - Dancing On Glass Binghampton 1987 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2022-01-24 | Read Me - Recorded on August 21st, 1987 @ Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Excellent sound quality, I believe Whitesnake opened for this show. Good track from the Girls, Girls, Girls album other than the title track and Wild Side. Personally I would consider myself an average Motley fan you could say. Without getting too controversial I just have a hard time enjoying listening to them live. For the above performance it is actually pretty solid. Without getting into the news and media subjects with Vince he's in that singing realm with David Lee Roth where even in prime you get what you get. Great on the records but live just different. Regardless I still hope the best for Crue and I hope that the stadium tour is a go and that they are up to the task. Tommy and Mick are forces to be reckoned with as well in my opinion. Taken from the very last leg of this massive tour, and is the last known recording in circulation currently of an entire show where we can listen to Steve perform. To add to this pragmatic list Steve is rocking the odd fender strat for this tune and the band are basically on top of the world performing their #1 billboard top 100 hit. Just listening to the crowd and their sheer volume is insane. Love Bites would be the last song that was rehearsed and added into the set, was played as an encore as well. Good sounding performance of Heartless Heart, don't really think it was played live after this tour. Ironically the song seems pretty easy on Don's voice and there is no guitar solo form George. Also surprising that they cut it from the live release of this tour, but we still have this historical record... Tooth And Nail is probably my favorite Dokken album from front to back. Tate and DeGarmo were like Rogers and Gilmour when it came to songs and writing. Even accepting that they are absent the band have been in the media light a lot more lately, just not a good look or appealing anymore. Really hitting me that this was the last performance by the band with everything that has gone on since early 2020. I watched the vlogs on the official Def Leppard channel of the guys and the tour ending on such a good note. Had purchased tickets to see Def Leppard & ZZ Top, but the tour was ultimately cancelled.. Rest In Peace as well Dusty Hill! The audio is a bit lacking, but the quality is decent enough. It takes dips and kind of phases out here and there. This again was the last show for 2019 and the last time Leppard performed leading up to having to cancel the stadium tour with Motley. They play a pretty good set and sound great here. Great sounding performance of DHTH from first leg of the Hysteria Tour. We watch the guys play this track in Vegas and get blown away, but we can look back and appreciate where this song started in a live setting. Having said that it is still great to hear it live if they choose to do so! Die hard has to be up there as one of my personal favorites. Really good/tight sounding performance of the 'soon to be released' single! This is only the second performance of this song. Whitesnake - Bad Boys La Crosse 1987 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-28 | Read Me - Recorded on September 6th, 1987 @ the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Good sound quality on this one. Whitesnake were opening for Mötley Crüe. They add a little bit of Children of the Night in the mid section, that's a great track as well. I have come around to like and appreciate the 1987 album, but the people who wrote it and played on it never toured. If an album like this came out sooner for them they would have been so much bigger in the states. The touring band still got it done even though it was only for the tour. Regardless of that I can appreciate Viv for anything he does. It was probably a fun and different experience from dealing with Ronnie in Dio. Nonetheless I hope you all enjoy, keep it rocking! Def Leppard - Promises Osaka 1999 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-28 | Read Me - Recorded on September 27th, 1999 @ Koseinenkin Kaikan (Festival Hall) in Osaka, Japan. Excellent quality audio taken from the second of two nights in Osaka. The set for this show was pretty standard, but the sound quality is awesome. I would say Leppard were ready to leave the 90's behind them and move forward. Promises was a really good hit for the band, and I think it still holds up to this day. Def Leppard - Billys Got A Gun/Mirror, Mirror Tokyo 1984 (Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-27 | Read Me - Recorded on January 26th, 1984 @ Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Good quality audio again taken from the last show of two in Tokyo during the Pyromania Tour. Billy's Got a Gun would not be played live in Tokyo again until 1996, and Mirror, Mirror (Look Into My Eyes) would go on to not be played live in Tokyo again until 2008. I wanted to post more from this show, so I decided to tag the two together. These two tracks were also rolled out for the most recent residency in Las Vegas. Mirror, Mirror has been considered far more than Billy's Got a Gun imo. The band threw Billy out a handful of times during the Slang Tour and then one performance in Tokyo in 2002. That would be the last playing until 2019. Mirror, Mirror wasn't brought back out until 2008 and has since been played in 2013, and 2019. Aside from keeping track of when they've been played these two songs are still pretty elusive in a live setting. Nonetheless I hope you all enjoy, keep it rocking! Def Leppard - Soundcheck - Slang Osaka 2011 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-27 | Recorded on November 5th, 2011 @ the Grand Cube/Osaka International Convention Center in Osaka, Japan. Great quality audio/iem taken from the 2011 Osaka show soundcheck. This is an interesting behind the scenes look at the band working out the playing of Slang. The song had not been played live since 2006 during the last show of the Yeah! Tour. You also get to hear the guys work out the ending bit of Rock! Rock! The band are very relaxed in an environment like this and for sure goof off as they're working out their parts. Smoke on the Water for sure seems to pop up during a lot of soundchecks lmao. Def Leppard - It Could Be You/It Dont Matter Columbia 1981 (Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-26 | Read Me - Recorded on August 16th, 1981 @ Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Not a half bad sounding show. Leppard were opening for Ozzy for this show. Surprisingly these two OTTN tracks survived for the entirety of the High and Dry tour, but were dropped after the tour and have not been played since. I would say I enjoy It Could Be You a lot more than It Don't Matter. For most people these tracks sound a lot more dated and have the sound that the band wanted to get away from. When I did the poll the Early Years, On Through The Night, and the High and Dry era came in second place, so here we are! I will post a performance from the Early Years as well. Def Leppard - Stagefright Tokyo 1984 Audio (Good Sound) The White Lightning 2020-06-16 | Read Me - Recorded on January 26th, 1984 @ the Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Good quality from practically the last known show that was recorded on the Pyromania Tour. A few more handful of dates were played after this, then the band moved to Dublin to start the writing process for Hysteria. Stagefright was added to the set once Leppard started headlining their own tour. It was in the first encore slot and was played pretty fast to a degree for Leppard. I never really cared to hear these performances of the song, but this one actually sounds really good. Not to mention Rick stall hasn't lost his arm and the band are on fire live. Styx - Come Sail Away Chicago 1983 (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-06 | Read Me - Recorded on April 26th, 1983 @ the Chicago Auditorium in Chicago, Illinois This has really good sound. I have to say this is a heck of a song. A very underrated song that builds up and just takes off. I'm starting to appreciate Dennis DeYoung a lot more. I saw Styx in 2015 w/ Def Leppard. They are the current Styx, but just a version you could say. It's a shame that DeYoung was ousted from the band for no legitimatize reason. He is the mastermind behind that band. Between DeYoung and Shaw they were able to write good hit songs, but were also drastically different from each other. Sad when people just want more money and control. Nonetheless enjoy! I've just been listening to a bunch of other stuff and thought I'd share some on here. There will be more from various other bands and obviously more Def Leppard. Anthrax - Black Lodge Fitchburg 1993 FM (High Quality Audio) The White Lightning 2020-06-06 | Read Me - Recorded on August 8th, 1993 @ the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. A good sounding FM show from the Bush era of Anthrax. I would have to say this is one of my favorites if not my favorite song by them. The band took inspiration from the 'Twin Peaks' television show for this song. As well as having the track being co written with Angelo Badalamenti who wrote the theme music for 'Twin Peaks'. I also have to say personally I really enjoyed the first season of Twin Peaks. A very unique show that is quite mysterious. Nonetheless I hope you all enjoy. Keep it rocking! Def Leppard - Run Riot Belfast 1987 (Mega Rare Audio) The White Lightning 2020-04-20 | Read Me - Recorded on August 29th, 1987 @ Ulster Hall in Belfast, Ireland. A very early show on the main Hysteria Tour in the United Kingdom, along with a very rare playing of Run Riot. It wasn't performed very often on the main tour, but this was the first time on the main tour. The sound quality is listenable, but it gets a pass for how rare it is.This playing also sounds more refined and complete as Hysteria had concluded recording and was complete. Great sounding FM from the '96 Sheffield show. The broadcast consisted of select tracks from this show. Great sound though! Growing up I loved hearing this track as a kid. In a live setting the song is different imo, and also more on the shorter side for leppard. Still a great performance and the guys are very comfortable during this era. Def Leppard - Bringin On The Heartbreak/Switch 625 Osaka 1984 (Good Audio) The White Lightning 2020-04-15 | Read Me - Recorded on January 25th, 1984 @ Koseinenkin Hall in Osaka, Japan. Good sounding show taken from the tail end of the pyromania tour. Bringin' on the Heartbreak got it's first live exposure on this tour, but it was a little different to how the studio version is. Instead of Joe singing 'Bringin' on the heartbreak' he sings 'Bringin' on the heartache'. It's a minor gripe, but to me I don't enjoy hearing this being performed live from this tour. Just my opinion! But it is followed by Switch 625, which cleans it all up nicely. They all are rocking it out, even with Joe on guitar as he did it quite often on this tour. It's interesting as for the most part these were the last few times we would hear Steve play Switch 625 live, but it was also performed for a few of the 1986 rehearsal shows leading up to the Monsters of Rock shows in '86. Heartbreak was played electric going straight into Switch 625 as they do now. It's also interesting to note that if you've read the Animal Instincts book you'll know the band re recorded Switch 625 in the studio during the recording of Hysteria. I say overplayed, but it's one of their more rocking tracks that gets exposure that isn't a full blown hit you know? I think a track like Rock Rock falls into the category as well. Had a request from a fellow listener to post something from this show, so here you go my friend!Decent audio of an early OTTN tour show. Good playing of Good Morning Freedom that includes a mid section w/ a Rick Allen drum solo, and a guitar duel between Steve Clark and Pete Willis.This track was played regularly between 1979 and 1980. After this tour was over it wasn't brought back out until 2013 for the Viva Hysteria shows. Ded Flatbird played it through the Vegas shows and a few random dates over the summer of 2013.
