The finals were the most exciting the sport has ever seen. In a fierce battle throughout 7 rounds, and a nearly perfect final round for all top 4 competitors, Toms Īvāns secured the lead and is the new world champion in Indoor Solo Freestyle! Kyra Poh took Silver by a close margin, and Maja Kuczynska secured the Bronze medal, closely behind Kyra.Another electrifying and drama filled finale was between Team Firefly Singapore (Kyra Poh & Yixuan Choo) and Aerogravity France (Clément Gyzmo & Léo Blanchon) in the Dynamic 2-WAY Open. Only in the extra speed round the girls from Singapore won out the French team by a split second!Every competitor was part of making a new chapter in this sport. That's why Aerodium’s wind tunnel was chosen as a primary attraction for the world's premier offshore sailing event - the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 edition send off in Spain.For 11 days, the port of Alicante welcomed 345 thousand people from all around the world, and for the first time, Volvo Ocean Race visitors experienced the power of wind flying high in the sky. So, how was a wind tunnel able to boost the city’s media coverage?With the compact size, our mobile open-air wind tunnel was installed at the busy Race Village seafront, giving spectators an amazing sight of flying people with the Mediterranean Sea and mountains as the backdrop. Every day, 160 random people had the chance to experience flying with the help of our instructors. Being safe and suitable for young and old, the wind tunnel became the most desired activity in Race Village gathering tremendous crowds. Visitors were also treated to fascinating aerobatic demonstrations performed by our seasoned professional flyers. With all the hype and posts from personal flights and flyer performances, Alicante was amongst the trending topics on social media platforms.Quoted as one of the most innovative attractions, our wind tunnel had international media coverage, was being live streamed on the official Volvo Ocean Race website and appeared on various travel blogs, adding immense exposure to Alicante as a great travel destination.
