How do you turn a negative emotion or experience into a superpower?
Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright react to Matilda and her journey through childhood trauma. Jonathan shares what Matilda does that leads her to a happier and healthier life and how she stands up for others who face similar hardship. They talk about the difference between standing up for yourself and retaliating… and why retaliation is much more fun in movies. And Alan explains why the narration and over-the-top physical acting work when they often don’t.

Well, this has been an exciting morning! I posted a video this morning, with the rest of the CT team's support, about a giveaway promotion being offered through Mended Light, my trauma clinic. Some of you thought my voice sounded off, movements were weird, etc, and believed that this was an artificial intelligence Jono created by hackers.
It's a real video with the real me. No hack. No Max Headroom Jono.
When I recorded that video I was at home with my home mic. Sometimes I sound different when that happens. As for jerky movements, that may have been a rendering issue.
Some said things like "someone's impersonating Jono in the comments! Look at the typos." Well, today I'm driving across several states today with three kids. Doing the best I can.
Please do not report a hack on our channel that never happened. That can cause problems for us. Please correct others if they didn't get the memo.
The giveaway is similar to one we did a year ago on CT and Mended Light. We took the CT one down after the giveaway was done because... well... the giveaway was done. Now I can see that we should have left it up for social proof.
Thank you for your love. I adore your protective spirit. Please stand down. The giveaway is real and really from me. Friendly fire is still fire :)
As for the giveaway itself, we're giving away cruise vacations, a woman's retreat, and gift cards to Amazon, Home Depot, and more! For anyone in the world as long as we can mail to you from the U.S.
We've got a bonus game and prizes as a thank you for those who try out the Mended Light membership. The rest of the games and prizes are free to play, free to win.
That's all here, and helps us to support people who need trauma threapy but can't afford it: https://mendedlight.agave.live/

How do romances in romantic comedies compare to real life? What’s your favorite ‘90s romcom?
Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright are doing a blast from the past by watching and ranking ‘90s romcoms. They’re ranking the romances from Clueless, Never Been Kissed, Pretty Woman, Sleepless in Seattle, and While You Were Sleeping. Jonathan ranks them from worst to best in terms of relationship quality, and Alan makes snide remarks about the quality of the films - though some of them are great - and he really goes off one one of them. Can you guess which one?
