My 15 year journey to become a Spine Surgeon Antonio J. Webb, M.D. 2024-04-21 | My 15 year journey to become a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon was quite the feat. My career started off in the military where I spent 8 years working as a medic, LVN, and EMT-B including a tour right outside of Baghdad, Iraq in 2005. While on active duty, I went to college at night and on the weekends to complete my pre-med prerequisites. It ended up taking me 7 yrs to get my bachelors degree, but I kept at it until I finished! 💪🏾This was followed by a challenging course to get into medical school - rejected for two years straight from every school that I applied to. Eventually, I was accepted into medical school after a postbac program at Georgetown University. This was followed by 6 years of surgical training at 2 programs which were very trauma heavy (which was good because it prepared me for practice). And now, Ive been in practice for 4 years.
