Amazed this was a marathon submission run too, so quite a great bit of coincidence there.

Done on August 7th, 2021. A bit of a rough start ended up being a pretty smooth run as a whole, definitely hoping to improve this still but not upset in the least! Sub-35 will happen someday...
This is a HARD IL to optimize but this is a very good improvement from previous WR for sure! Can still shave off a second but I'm kinda tired out ahah

First run back in a few weeks at least and it turned out pretty decent! No deaths at all, definitely could see some improvement in stages like Hyenard or Intro for instance though.
Retimed to a 36:02.80 based on the recording of when the last hit registered.
INCREDIBLE stuff. First ever WR in a Mega Man X game, and I'm here for it! Pretty happy all things considered with this; a 35 is possible but I'm probably gonna concentrate on the first game for the time being.
Finally got the 36 I've been hunting for... but now it's time to turn my attention onto the WR, which is only 31 seconds faster than this. We can TOTALLY hit that, so expect more attempt sooner rather than later.
Submission video that just so happened to WR by 3 minutes. Let me know what you all thought of the commentary; I'd love to improve this for the future and make sure it becomes even better from hereon out!
As for the run, pretty solid all the way through, with the worst instances of things likely being TJ Silver Hard and certain relatively slow missions. Absolutely incredible at other points, including Flame Core Hard, Aquatic Base Normal, Kingdom Valley Normal and some really solid missions.

Well... hot damn. Sonic Skip turns out to be marginally faster than using red-purple throughout the stage, which is incredible. Setup is far from consistent but there are many ways to recover the box once you've thrown it over. The strategy I did here made it easier to get the right steepness but made the telethrow out of the room significantly harder, however it turned out just nicely. Ending combat is just picking up everything the enemies shoot at you and hope you don't die before then; was a little rough here but I'm so happy with this overall.

Got the same method we had for Shadow as Sonic, using gems. At the current moment, unfortunately, it seems like this is not possible in Sonic RTA, but who knows? I really hope this descriptions gets invalidated sooner rather than later. :)

New despawn strat found by Gordon Ramsay! I did some optimizations here like hitting the orb to give me an earlier cycle for the Iblis clone down below, but I do feel like we are yet to fully understand how this works. From personal experience, I believe that this clone of Iblis spawns relative to you underneath the level as you are being targeted, and dying in such a way that the worm despawns as you are dying allows the stage to be completed. Unsure if the spears through the clone are actually necessary or not; will be doing more research!
Overall, this was a really good run; the most unfortunate thing about it all was the fact that I really messed up Egg Genesis later on, that entire section of the run is a little hard to watch. Outside of that though, this was really smooth and clean. I had extremely good loads it seems, but I do believe this run was better than any run I've done before even when taking loads into account.
Current World Record for 180 Gold Medals as of December 9th, 2020. Done for Really Really Long-A-Thon 4, who you can support on their Twitch page:

What a rollercoaster of a run this was. Had its ups and downs, but was never more than ten minutes ahead or behind my previous WR either way. No splits on this recording since it was to an RTMP, but you can view my splits on splits.io here:

This run can definitely go sub-7 with a flawless run throughout, which will be my end goal in this category. Expect more attempts during the Summer of 2021, perhaps even earlier.
Absolute shoutouts to Gordon Ramsay for making the Chaos Snap warp (known as Chaos Control) work out really well here. Essentially, we warp to the origin of the map and are able to fling Shadow's corpse to the checkpoint that is loaded in due to how we position and face ourselves in the leadup to using Chaos Snap on the rail.
Can still be improved, but overall very very solid.
Pretty good run through of Shadow's All Gold Medals! Some small hiccups in there (Dusty Desert, Mission 13), but overall more good than bad. Already a good way into routing all of the medals in the game, so I'm quite happy ^^
At ESA Summer Online 2020 this year, I managed to accidentally do something where I stayed on a box as I threw it. Since then, I figured out the mechanics behind this trick, which we are now calling a telethrow, and then how to chain them for height and such, which someone in my chat named Focus flight.
The tech itself is possibly one of the easiest things in Silver to do; all you need is an object (any kind) with an angle that's pretty sharp but not too sharp to fall off of immediately. Once there, face Silver in a way that is generally towards the highest point of the object, then lift until you hit the ceiling and throw with your control stick angled in a way that you don't fall off, generally in the direction you were already facing. How the object is tilted and which way Silver faces are the two most influential factors to this, so keep those things in mind as you chain!
Within here is a compilation of the strats I have personally found, but there are others that are RTA and even IL viable, such as those done by Otonyshi and Gpro, which are linked below:

Used two controllers and swapped between them when necessary. Only time I did that here was to defeat some enemies as Sonic to keep him safe.
Pardon the death after the 9th silver medal, I couldn't get this all smoothly in one life unfortunately ^^"

Sharu took the WR from me this morning, decided I wanted to get it back. Can still be improved by "200 but not much more than that without a route change.

DL until 29.20, D until 28.08 ~ 28.01; sometimes 27.98, DL until end (28.01 & 27.98 require adjustment, as does 28.05), with an UL adjustment for a faster time if you so choose.
DL until 29.18, D until 28.20 ~ 28.10, DL until you see the party ball just about level with the character, then adjust to UL once you see the goal on screen.
Should allow this strat to be done more often in RTA!
(Also, 29.16 sometimes works just YOLOing it honestly, as shown in the video)
There could be something here, but given how long it took me to get successful attempts, probably not. Still, I'm more than happy to help out if anyone else has any ideas!
Also, make sure to aim for the area with the emblem. That way you can immediately jump off + you don't fall down into the abyss below. Through this, also figured out the towers are like 10 feet above the water itself so there's a small gap between it and the water below. Neat stuff.
YouTube reupload of the WR Silver No MSG% run from December 15th, 2019. TurboRun23 and NotRealLevi are the two people in the call though Levi tends to be more prevalent earlier on and Turbo comes in later.
Pretty great run overall but no doubt could go lower at some point in time. Small improvements here and there and general overall consistency would assist.
Chart for stat in video: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_the_hedgehog/times/mission_3/silver
Pretty decent! Definitely has some improvements but overall real nice. Sub-50 within reach.
Chart for stat in video: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_the_hedgehog/times/aquatic_base/silver
Pretty great run overall, however with better combat luck at the end and some small mistake improvements, I could see this IL going underneath a minute. Not going to be easy without pause buffering though.
The object unfortunately explodes after you stop lifting it, so rings are a necessity for this telelaunch. Hovering to the end gets you a 1'40, which is 20 seconds slower than the fastest route through the stage normally, but SETDing to the top of the lava waterfall and continuing the stage normally could give you a time ~10 seconds faster by the end, assuming all else goes well.
First part is from top after spring section while the other is from the additional height gained by the spring normally during the clip. The timing is much harsher on the latter option, and most successful launches for me came from falling from the cliff, though that would be slower by several sections (as shown in the comparison).
Definitely deserves further research, and I love the aesthetic of this trick for sure. Let's hope we can use this in future runs.
New method for the second set of hits enables for fairly consistent high 38s/low 39s for RTA! Gist of it is you try to set up hits for the second cycle before the camera pans back onto him, so that they're instantaneous once the invincibility frames wear off.

Decent overall, but still improvable. Difficult last part to do quickly, but definitely satisfied with the speed of the first half of this level.
Chart for stat in video: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_the_hedgehog/times/aquatic_base_-_very_hard/silver
Overall a pretty good run. Lots of good movement in the beginning of the second section, potential improvements to be made at the movement in the first and with some small nuances the combat at the very end. Still feeling pretty happy!
Chart for stat in video: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_the_hedgehog/times/dusty_desert_-_hard/silver
Pretty much the same thing as Normal, except the beginning is consistently faster to do without going in-bounds in the first sand room. There's no platform to the left to easily SETD to, so unfortunately it's a lot clumsier to actually set up the traditional IL clip out, so I use the RTA clip instead.
