1 Min Remix for Cevin Key Patreon - Sequential Pro One, Perkons & Presonus Studio One Scratch Pad Fletcher Fathoms 2025-01-27 | The Project: Cevin Key - legendary producer/performer of Skinny Puppy, Tear Garden, Cyberaktif, etc. offered us patreons a super-cool theme/sequence from his original Pro One with instructions to make one minute of music. It was amazing to hear all 40 of our submissions collaged by Cevin into one piece of music on the stream last night.The Process: I employed the scratch pad feature in Presonus Studio One which essentially splits the timeline in two, allowing me to drag loops from Cevin's original sequence over to my remix side. I then added Event FX (dragging plugins onto the the loops) mostly Infiltrator 2 by Devious Machines. I jammed along in real time with a beat I made on Erica Synths Perkons and repeated that post-production process adding Output Thermal for some extra heft. I then sampled crazy televangelist Paula White speaking in tongues via my trusty Life App by XLN audio, which makes rhythmic loops out of anything. Mr Black LTD Double Tracker Stereo - Killing Joke Europe - Strymon Iridium and El Capistan Plugin Fletcher Fathoms 2024-09-28 | After getting to know the fabled Bell/PA:CE analog Automatic Double Trackers, I wanted to see if Mr Black's new stereo Double Tracker pedal was up to some 1985 Geordie Walker action. Using Strymon Iridium's Marshall setting stereo-out into the pedal, then stereo into interface with a touch of the new El Capistan delay plugin at the end of the chain, I was able to get damn close. I used the preset function to switch the double tracker to slapback width for the middle bit where Geordie plays against the delay (and forgot to turn it off after - eek!). Bell Electrolabs Automatic Double Tracker - Killing Joke 2003 Medley - Geordie Walker Fletcher Fathoms 2024-09-26 | For those that know, the fabled ADT as used by Geordie Walker came in two flavours - Bell Electrolabs and PA:CE. It's taken me over a decade to track down both. As far as I can tell from opening them up, the circuit layout looks identical, however this one (Bell) has Panasonic chips and a bit more delay time. Both are pure magic in stereo. I plan to do a video with both in the loops of my Bluguitar Amp1's dialed slightly different in stereo like Geordie did with proper miced cabs. He told me that he spoke to a guy who walked into Goldstar studios back in the day and heard a cacophony of out-of-tune brass and such surrounding him. When he got to the control room, he found that one mic was on the one player who was nailing it and all the chaos around that player made the take magic and dimensional. Slap-back deviation and cyclical degrading echos around a solid riff is like a metaphor for a voice to rise amongst the chaos. His fingerprints are likely still on this very guitar I am playing in this video as I brought it to him to have a go on at the Brixton Academy afterparty on the Pylon tour. I played his too which was a somewhat religious experience as you can see from my face. A sonic alchemist, the master of melodic dissonance and the bringer of the fire from heaven. Influenced the last four generations with his iconic and singular style. Greatest guitarist of my lifetime certainly. May his music live on and be held in awe for centuries to come.
