You need to know that I love you John Lindell, and love the people of James River Church. Please let me walk you through why I am calling for John to repent. I am asking all Christians and Pastors to pray and act under the convictions of the Holy Spirit to call for a godly correction in this situation. Let me be clear..as long as you ask God for forgiveness, apologize to those you’ve wronged, and set the record straight,- You can make a mistake and be a pastor- You can make a false statement and be a pastor- You can even lie and be a pastor- However, you can not perpetuate lies, and still be a pastorSimply put, if John is unwilling to repent, apologize and correct this issue, he is biblically unqualified to pastor any church according to 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1:7.John Lindell made a mistake when inviting Alex Magala to the Men’s Conference. A mistake that he has now partially apologized for after extreme public pressure this past Sunday 4/21. We should always have grace for our pastors when they make a mistake and correct it. We all make mistakes and want the same grace in return. Unfortunately before he apologized for the original mistake, he made many false statements.As you can see, the original mistake of inviting Alex Magala was nothing compared to these false statements made last Wednesday. We can and should always have grace for pastors to even get information wrong and even make false statements. In this situation, it is hard to see how with all of the available information on Instagram and Google that Pastor John Lindell didn’t do a little digging himself to find out the truth that Alex was not a “new creation” or a “brother in Christ” as defined in scripture. However, let’s extend even more grace and assume the John was given false information that he failed to check before he repeated it last Wednesday. I am concerned that Pastor John Lindell would not do his own research before making a decision to publicly rebuke Mark Driscoll and falsely defining what a christian should look like by elevating Alex as a “born again believer”. After last Wednesday night’s message, even more information became available to confirm that Wednesday night was full of false statements. Multiple people reached out to the church, multiple videos made, including mine which called for John to repent, apologize and correct the record. I believe the “Body of Christ” was hopeful that John would take Sunday’s service on 4/21 to repent, apologize, and “set the record straight” for the sin of spreading false information and instead he apologized only for the original mistake and made no mention of the Wednesday night service.False statements become lies when there is a clear intention or motive to deceive. We can now confidently say that these false statements are lies since there has been no intention to address them and correct them. It’s like we tell our kids, if you make a mistake, don’t make it worse by intentionally lying about it… This is what we have to conclude at this point. .The Gospel message is damaged and His church is hurt for every day that these false statements are left to stand and even worse perpetuated by 135k views on YouTube before the video went private, 258k views on Facebook currently available as of 4/25, and countless streams on Spotify and Apple Podcasts that are also currently running as of 4/25 . John Lindell has even gone as far as to use church funds to promote these lies on these platforms.I am a concerned Christian that is in love, prayerfully and boldly calling for John Lindell to publicly repent, apologize to those you’ve damaged, and correct the lies you have promoted from this last week to hundreds of thousands if not millions of people.
