[Rock Band 3] Hey Ocean! - Islands Nick Ha & Swan Song 2013-09-27 | The way this song resonates with the very core of my being and moves me like few others have done before is too difficult to adequately express with words. So I put it into Rock Band instead.Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jlm5zkc6bpz045u/HeyOcean_Islands_v1_rb3conI had to stretch my venue-making abilities in order to try and capture that poignant, vast aural atmosphere that this song creates, and I still feel like I wasn't quite able to do it justice. But I gotta say, that desaturated blue filter is beautiful. So perfect.Also spent a good hour or so trying to recreate the band in the RB3 character creator; David Beckingham came quickly, but Ashleigh Ball was ridiculously hard to mimic, and it was frustrating how there weren't less dense and heavy facial hair options for David Vertesi. Also kinda sad that the game doesn't feature the exact model of Beckingham's or Vertesi's guitars, but eh. At least it's the same brand. Win some, lose some.In case anyone's wondering why the vocal parts for lead and background are swapped: During live Hey Ocean performances, Ashleigh Ball sings alone at the mic (occasionally accompanying with flute), while David Beckingham plays guitar. I did want to try and mimic what a real Hey Ocean performance might look like, so in order to assign the lipsync properly, I made it so that Harmony 1 (associated with the vocalist) was set to do Ashleigh's parts, while Harmony 2 (typically associated with the guitarist) was set to Beckingham's. The one thing I wish I could do was swap Beckingham's and Vertesi's positions on the stage, since Beckingham is usually stage right of Ashleigh and Vertesi stage left during a live performance, but eh. Win some, lose some.Also: I don't know why, but setting the snare accents to yellow just feels so wrong, even though it's correct from an authoring perspective. Velocity-sensitive notes would be nice in a hypothetical Rock Band 4...And why does the game's lipsync have so much trouble interpreting long vowels?! UGH.I'll probably be putting Make a New Dance Up into Rock Band soon too. It's just too fun not to do.

If you comment about it I will find out where you live and kidnap your dog.--== DEVELOPER'S NOTES ==--Did something unique with the venue in this one by setting all the camera angles to focus on the pianist instead of the vocalist (if keys is active), which meant screwing around with camera take priority for the first time so that it would show the vocalist singing if there's no keyboard. Then I realized all of my hard work would go to waste (at least in the video) because the pianist doesn't even appear on stage in All Instruments Mode. Was so proud of how it looked that I was all like "buck the police" and used it as an opportunity to experiment with some video editing. Recorded about four takes of JUST the venue track in Performance Mode, twice with Keys and Bass, and twice more with Keys and Guitar, then used a lil' multicam editing to choose the best camera angles. Then I did a recording of just the gameplay on black in All Instruments Mode, spent an hour keying/masking out all of the black in After Effects, and overlaid the gameplay on top of the revised venue track so that it looked like a typical recording.Yeah. Too much work.

I made this trailer as practice for film post-production and digital media design, with the goal of making as professional-looking a trailer as possible. This is a parody trailer for an imaginary game; "My Little Rock Band", as a formal title/group, does not actually exist.
