L-NEO Moveset: Yamamura (Super Mario Maker) Renegade Jade 2018-01-27 | Moveset #4Yamamura, the Mario Maker mascot, joins the Lawl!A Super Mario Maker-based moveset is a really neat idea, taking the concept of a game where the sole purpose is to create a custom Mario level and trying to make a Smash Bros. moveset out of that. So here's my interpretation. Yamamura, while known to basically everyone else as "that bird that got an amiibo costume before daisy," was the best fit to me. His whole deal in the lore (As in, the official online "comic" that actually gives him some characterization) as the "master builder" had him look adept enough to use this kind of style in battle, and the only other person to really fit that is Mario himself. I didn't want to make a moveset for Mario #3. And the boss-type, stage-control moveset felt like the best fit to represent a game with as much absolute control as Mario Maker. I've also been wanting to focus more on getting movesets out quicker. You remember the near-6-month wait between Jyushimatsu and Shovel Knight. I don't want another 6-month wait. So my main goal is to get everybody I've announced's movesets made by 2019. ...But at this point, I'm just rambling. It was absolutely immature, yes, but I absolutely have a soft spot for it in my nostalgia. PanchitoMatrix in particular was my violent Spongebob source of preference. The classic "sponge bob robbing a bank" was a particularly fond childhood memory (Despite how I REALLY shouldn't have been watching that at that age). It's, quite possibly, one of my favorite games of all time. As someone who's advocated Shovel Knight for Smash 4 for years, I believe it's high time he gets an actual moveset. While he is a more basic character, I think this is a good compromise for something interesting enough for Lawl, but not being TOO gimmicky, as that isn't really the character.
