This includes various practices such as affirmations, subliminals, chants, mantras, self help and self harm. I cover a few of these but there are more. I would like to do a separate video on each of them as well. There are a lot of young people that fall into this trap so it's important to know how Christians should respond to it.
Sober Minded Podcast Ep. 22: Atheists Faith, White Board Debut, Response to Trent Horn on Calvinism Mark The Mimic 2024-02-07 | I've been working on a video titled, "The Religion of Atheists and Skeptics". I give a little taste of what that video will be in this episode. To summarize, Atheism is religion because it requires faith in order to believe its assertions. The Atheist assertions that there is no God, that there is no Creator of the Universe and that Evolution led to the current form of nature we see today are all assertions that cannot be 100% verified and therefore faith is needed to believe that they are true. Atheist Scholars are more honest about their theories and admit that they can only be skeptics at best. Ironically, the Atheists believers (those that follow the Scholars) ignore the skepticism of their Atheist "pastors" and take their theories as "gospel" and "preach" these theories all around the internet. This episode also marks the first usage of the white board which will be a staple of the podcast moving forward. Then I respond to Trent Horn's strawman of Calvinism and demonstrate from Scripture why he is wrong.
Sober Minded Ep. 21: Refuting Satans Guide to the Bible Mark The Mimic 2024-01-18 | A fairly recent documentary called "Satan's Guide to the Bible" has been out for a few weeks. No response videos have been made so I thought I would make one to demonstrate the errors in their theories. I don't know anything about the people behind the making of this documentary but it seems like they're just digging up the old and tired methods of the skeptical and critical progressive, anti-Christian "scholars" and speakers. Nothing new to see here except for the interesting animation and direction. I don't go into too much detail about the documentary but I do address the biggest flaws that I found when watching it. I did not watch the whole thing because it simply wasn't necessary, once I understood the direction of the documentary it was easy to see that it was a sloppy and ill advised. It's incredibly obvious that the team behind this were on a vendetta for revenge on Christianity, most likely because they apostatized from Christianity and are now on a vendetta against it, to right the wrongs they feel that were done to them. That's is just my assumption. I plan on writing a companion essay that addresses some broader questions about apologetic and how to deal with skeptics and vengeful apostates. Just so were clear, I am a Reformed Christian, I believe in the innerrancy of Scripture and the sovereignty of God in salvation.

Only three tracks from this concert could be found on youtube; Night Passage (from the Weather Report "Legendary Live Tapes: 1978-1981" album - youtube.com/watch?v=6NWJVZCYFqQ), Port of Entry and Three Views Of A Secret (uploaded by Jaco's late 2nd wife, Ingrid Pastorius - youtube.com/watch?v=BxhV3_fxRxg and youtube.com/watch?v=RIEDg1-g-9k which was Ingrid's last video before passing away a month later). This upload is still not the full concert. About 5 tracks are missing. I converted the original FLAC into mp3 for sake of storage space and easier uploading. I also boosted the bass and added a touch of high treble. Overall a good concert showcasing the band at its best moment. The song selection could have been better in my opinion but that doesn't take away from the musicianship heard here. Jaco Pastorius Birthday Tribute Mark The Mimic 2018-12-01 | This is a video chronicling a decade of the professional life of American Musician and Bassist John Anthony Francis "Jaco" Pastorius III. The video starts at 1974 with his humble beginnings and ends at 1985, 2 years before his death in 1987 which was due to being beaten into a coma after he pestered a security guard to punch him while he was intoxicated. His losing battle with his mental health can clearly be seen throughout the years as the alcohol consumption ignited his problems. Jaco's music was always different and reflected what he wanted to make at the moment. No matter what genre he dabbled in he always made it compelling with his attitude and personality which translated through his instruments and into his music.
