Despite its complete obscurity, it somehow has hundreds of thousands of players online at all times, making it rank consistently in the top 5 most played games on #Steam. Turns out, I was right, and Banana might just be one of the most shameless cash-grab schemes of the year.

Back during the early days of my channel, I played 3 of their best games, only to find that they were little more than over-monetized shovelware. But as part of the Performance Review series, and as we close in on the end of the first season of Jauwn, it's time to revisit them. Actually, we're going to play all the Gala Games, even the ones I never played.
This was quite interesting, since most of them are abandoned, as Gala continues on their spiral towards total collapse. Outsourced development teams, layoffs, and countless legal battles; it's not looking too good.
Anyway, enjoy!

At the time, the game was in a closed invite-only "beta", which was really more like an alpha. The game was a flashy but unsubstantial tech demo that seemed to be a thoughtless attempt to cash in on the "auto chess" hype, two years past the genre's prime. Their biggest selling point was the promised "interoperability" between the company's 3 games, but at the time, only one and a half were playable.
We're approaching year 4 of Illuvium, and all 3 of the games are now playable in an open beta state. I'd typically give them a bit of leeway with that label, but due to their extreme monetization, I feel that leniency is unwarranted.
A budget nearing $60 million, a team of nearly 200 employees, and a whole lot of disappointed fans; this isn't the Illuvium we were promised, but it's the one we got. #illuvium #crypto #gaming

The #Crypto, #Web3, #Metaverse was a slop of buzzwords that landed on my plate in 2022. I've spent the last year dutifully covering it from an unbiased, "gamer's" perspective. While we already know how the crypto industry has trended over the past year (down), it's still interesting to go back and look at the specific examples I covered in previous videos.
Thus, join me again as we go back and look at specific examples covered in my Worst NFT Game Ever? series. The best part about doing these videos, is that I only ever need to do one follow up on every game I've reviewed, since they all ended up being catastrophic failures. This one will be fun!

Let's not get too overzealous. Steam isn't that bad. However, they've definitely let the #crypto and #nftgame plague spread, despite having announced a "ban" on them.
I've curated a tour of 5 crypto games on Steam, and in this video, I give a brief review and some background on each game. Unsurprisingly, they are basically all shovelware and should never be played by anyone.

A slew of former Hearthstone streamers signed on as Parallel Ambassadors, and a brief clash of fandoms ensued on Twitter.
I, being the most unbiased and neutral crypto game reviewer to ever live (peer reviewed fact), just knew it was the perfect game to bring back this series after a year of dormancy.
In general, I think that the discourse regarding this game is profoundly stupid on both sides. The fans of Hearthstone are getting extremely worked up and calling Parallel a scam or ponzi scheme without any legitimate proof. I doubt any of them have even downloaded the game. On the other hand, the Parallel players are too cocky and overzealous considering how underwhelming their product is.
This is a good example for me to preach something very important; forming your own opinion. You're allowed to dislike crypto (like me), just like you're allowed to like it. However, your voice is valueless if you're not actually playing the game and giving constructive and reasonable criticism and feedback. Just like you can't claim "crypto = you own everything and the blockchain is 100% secure" without actual substantiated examples and proof.
It's exactly why I make these videos; I think that many of the concepts implemented by crypto games are misconstrued as being a whole lot better than they are, and many of these games fall apart before even reaching the actual crypto aspects.
Half-baked, over-priced, and under-played, Parallel doesn't set itself apart from the competitive TCG market in its current state.
However, this is easily one of the most promising NFT games I have ever played. I still wouldn't play it in my free time, nor do would I particularly agree with everything they're doing, but I have to acknowledge their efforts.
I guess since I own a pack of NFT cards I'm technically invested in this game? Although the cards are worth so little on the resale market that I'd need to pay more in fees to sell them than they would ever be worth. Please allow that information to influence your opinion as appropriate.

Gods Unchained was one of the first crypto games I reviewed. It was also one of my favorite, scoring just below a 5/10. At the time, the game was woefully mediocre, unfinished, expensive, and decaying. But that was more than a year ago; and it looks like Gods Unchained still exists.

It is the second and final game released by the Berlin-based studio Spieleentwicklungskombinat GmbH (SEK), known to many of us as the developers of Diggles: The Myth of Fenris.
It was a very expensive game to develop, costing well over $8,000,000, making it the most expensive game developed by a German studio at the time. It did not sell very well, at less than $100,000 copies, leading to the immediate bankruptcy of the studio. And as far as German games in 2006 goes, it was overshadowed by both Gothic 3 and Anno 1701. ParaWorld just didn't do enough different from the other RTS games that came out 10 years prior. And the RTS genre in general had already began a decade-long decline in popularity by 2006, making it an even more difficult game to sell.
However, if you have the patience to play through the game's 20+ hour long campaign, then you'll appreciate it for what it is. It's weird, funny (by German humor standards), and lovingly-crafted. Although, if you don't want to play it, I don't blame you. Therefore, I've created this almost hour-long deep dive into the game, explaining basically every aspect of the game so that you can get enjoyment out of it in far less time.
Hope you enjoy this Retro Review!

It has a well-crafted world, an interesting premise, and a core gameplay loop that really hasn't been seen any time since this released over 20 years ago. The game sold rather poorly at launch, and it didn't get very good reviews either. While Diggles has an EXTREMELY innovative premise and style of gameplay, it ultimately failed to execute on this is almost every way besides presentation. The game is riddled with bugs, crashes, and even when it is working properly, it still falls flat. Everything is far too slow, and the AI and pathfinding systems are so dysfunctional that the game could be considered as having released in an unfinished state.
Next time someone says that unfinished, broken new releases are a new problem of the 2020s, just show them Diggles. It's always been a problem, it's just that these unfinished games get far more media coverage today than they did back in the pre-social media era.

Now, some argue that Valve is making a massive mistake by preventing these games from being listed on their platform, while others say that it's a necessary move to keep up with the "future of technology" that is blockchain.
So, who's right? Are crypto games really something that #steam is missing out on? To find out, I decided to suit up and dive in myself. I decided to play 3 games, Dino Dash, Polygod, and Striker Manager 3. The results were unsurprising, to say the least.
The name of the game is "I'm looking for 3024 People" by Bakodun Game Studios.
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION BELOW
In case you were wondering what happened to my video "Give me $40,000: The Video Game", it's been copyright claimed by the developer. No, not because it is copyright infringing. Instead, the developer has decided to weaponize the #DMCA feature on YouTube to silence anyone attempting to show the sorry excuse for a "game" he's trying to sell. And so far, it's worked. Seems more like a #scam than a game, if he needs to silence criticism, right?
But I won't stand for this type of behavior, and any developer willing to abuse the legal system to silence legitimate criticism of their game deserves to face consequences.
The question is, will they? So far, the game has been reported to #Steam dozens of times yet it still remains. SidAlpha (who you should totally subscribe to!) has also covered this as well, and through working with him, we have discovered a history of sketchy and suspicious moves from this developer.
What happens next? Until a lawsuit is officially filed, nothing. But, even if the developer decides to back down and reinstate my video, nothing will change. He won't be punished for abusing the DMCA takedown feature, and the game will still remain on Steam, despite him breaking the site's Terms of Service by manipulating review scores and selling a game with questionably sourced assets.
How come crypto games always put all of their stats in the "graphics" category and not in "originality" or "fun" or "released"? Maybe they should've spent less time modeling detailed butts and 8 pack abs and instead just made a fun game. But fun doesn't sell in the world of crypto, and you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.

In this #documentary, I try my best to recap some of the failed predictions and investment advice that Kais has given over the past few months.
This video doesn't serve to harass Kais, or to rile up an army of trolls to attack him. I just wanted to show his content to a wider audience, while providing a bit of a critical analysis on his advice and his investigation methods. Kais has done some questionable, and borderline illegal things in an effort to prove that Bed Bath & Beyond won't go bankrupt, so it's not like he's immune from criticism. Also, his relentless spreading of misinformation and conspiracy theories to an audience of more than 10,000 people isn't without any victims. There are people that actually believe the things that he says, and take his investment advice seriously. Needless to say, some of them have had their lives ruined as they've now lost almost 100% of their money.
As of today, April 23, 2023, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 #bankruptcy. Kais refuses to accept this, and is still spreading conspiracy theories. Most of his audience has turned on him, and hardly anyone takes him seriously now. So, is Kais nothing more than an elaborate troll, or is he really the delusional lolcow that people think he is?

In this gameplay and review video of The Walking Dead: Empires, I give my first impressions on the game. While the ridiculous prices for the game's NFTs are unacceptable, the actual gameplay is still some of the best we've seen out of any crypto game. Obviously, I would never do a promotional video for a crypto game, so I decided to have a little bit of fun with them. However, what I uncovered was instead a very sophisticated and scary piece of malware.
I decided to perform a little bit of malware analysis on this and break their scam down to help raise awareness. While a scam like this may seem obvious if you have a strong technical background, this specific example was much more convincing than some of the others I've seen in the past.
I'm Looking for 3024 People is an #arg (alternate reality game) on Steam that costs $15 to enter and can only be completed once the developer has sold a MINIMUM of 3024 copies. Does that sound like fun to you?
The game released only a few weeks ago, but it's actually been around since late last year, as it was originally available as an #nft on OpenSea. It's pretty obvious right away that this person's main motivation for creating an ARG is to make money. But since nobody cared about buying the NFT, the developer moved the game to Steam.
Well, is the game at least good? I guess we'll find out.
This game is just another example of how Steam needs to look more closely at some of the games on their platform. So many games on Steam are just blatant scams or use tons of stolen content, and exist solely to game the system and make a quick buck.
He's been making headlines recently thanks to the fact that instead of addressing criticism with a reasonable argument, he just calls them "braindead" and "idiots". I wanted to take a few minutes to look at the gameplay and give my first impressions, despite the fact that I didn't feel like spending $800 on an early access pass.
In my opinion, this game is inherently flawed before you even consider the NFT aspect. Of course, NFTs aren't going to add anything interesting or new to the game, it's just a fad that the Doc is trying to capitalize on to make a quick buck.
This game is going to be a big disappointment. Although, I'm not sure people had high hopes for it to begin with.

Without a supportive player base to purchase a never ending onslaught of microtransactions, season passes, and battle passes, the development costs can become unsustainable, quickly.
But if there weren’t already enough avenues for monetization, we’ve got yet another to throw on the pile.
NFTs.
So what if I told you there’s a live service, early access, rogue-lite that costs $25 and has a $15,000 NFT micro-transaction? That already sounds like a disaster. Now what if I told you that I actually enjoyed playing it? Would you believe me?
#Superior is the best #nftgame I've played so far, without a doubt. However, it doesn't exactly use NFTs in any innovative, or interesting way. Instead, Superior uses #crypto as nothing more than an excuse to have some of the most predatory monetization I've ever seen in a video game.
What could have been a fun, co-op rogue-lite is instead an unknown, dead, and overall mediocre game, thanks to the pointless implementation of NFTs. Not to mention the fact that this game is published by our old favorite, Gala Games. Did I mention that this is supposed to have play to earn? How is that going to work? Are they just going to pay you to inflate their player counts?
I feel bad for the team at Drifter Entertainment. Their game doesn't deserve this treatment. But unfortunately, when you play with crypto, you're bound to get burned one way or another.
Maybe one day they'll drop Gala Games and remove all NFTs from the game, and maybe then they would attract a mainstream audience. But in the game's current state, there isn't even enough content to attract any players on Steam thanks to the rather high $25 price tag. And that's for a version without any NFTs!
Thanks for watching my gameplay and review of Superior, the best NFT game I've played so far.

With a meteoric rise to success in 2021, followed by a quick and violent crash, was Axie Infinity ever a good game? Or was it always a lazy cash grab?
This video has a much different tone and approach than some of my previous videos, so apologies if it's not what you expected. As Axie Infinity is a rather simple game, I felt that it is more appropriate to explore the origins of Play to Earn as a whole, and give a history of the rise and fall of the most popular crypto game all time.
Axie Infinity, and Play to Earn in general, is really nothing more than a cleverly disguised Ponzi scheme, meant to take advantage of one of the most powerful human emotions, greed. The developers had an amazing opportunity to use their insane success to create an amazing and well-polished game to onboard the world to crypto gaming, but instead, squandered their earnings and placed focus on advertising the game as a means for financial freedom.
Today, Axie Infinity has scrubbed all mentions of Play to Earn from their website, and instead, focuses more on being a video game where you own your assets. Of course, hardly anyone is really interested in that, since why would anyone care about owning assets in a game that is no higher quality than a generic App Store game.
Axie Infinity will go down in history as one of the most important players in the world of Web3, and serves as a perfect example of how the blockchain adds nothing to the game besides enabling it to be a Ponzi scheme.
Thanks for watching my gameplay and review of Axie Infinity!

However, it's not very good, and in fact, could be a good candidate for the "Worst #nftgame Ever".
Kryxivia manages to use #crypto to make the game more complicated, slower, and prohibitively expensive to play. The game's core gameplay loop involves grinding the same few boring "dungeons" over and over again, hoping that a rare item drops. Then, you will head directly to OpenSea to try and sell that item to some poor schmuck.
Kryxivia is probably one of the most honest attempts at creating a crypto game for the sake of creating a crypto game, and that's what makes it a perfect case study for why crypto games just don't make sense at a technical level. Everything that Kryxivia tries to do can be done better without the blockchain. The only thing a blockchain is actually able to do better, is to create a "decentralized" economy, which is completely nullified by the fact that the game is centralized anyway as the developers have complete control.
It's sad that this is actually one of the more enjoyable crypto games.

The spooky zombies and scary gameplay here are sure to leave you wanting to uninstall the game after just one round.
This game left me absolutely speechless. It's hard to believe just how amazing the latest advancements in #crypto and #nftgame have combined to bring us this stellar game.
Even though the game is terrible, does the economy and earning potential redeem Undead Blocks and make it worth playing? No, of course not. The whitepaper fails to explain where these rewards will come from, yet they promise to honor an exchange rate of 1 imaginary dollar for $.10 real dollars!
Is that money coming from their revenue? Well, that could be possible, but that doesn't seem sustainable given their 2023 revenue does not exceed 6 figures. Will the launch of Undead Blocks on February 28th bring the game to a larger audience? Perhaps, but when I was writing this description, I noticed that the Undead Blocks hashtag does not have more than 300 videos, despite the fact that this game has been in the works for almost two years now. So, it seems like even those YouTubers who are just human billboards for crypto games aren't even being paid enough to shill this game.
Oh, also this game is taking advantage of the GameStop investors, too.
This has certainly been one of the crypto games of all time.

CryptoFights brings an exciting twist to #web3 gaming by being borderline malware, excessively boring, and entirely unpopulated! Wow!
Despite the lack of success for CryptoFights, it seems that the developers are already hard at work on the game's sequel, CryptoFights 2. CryptoFights is hosted on the interesting and sometimes controversial blockchain known as Bitcoin SV. This is the first time we've covered a game using this blockchain, and it's actually the first time that I had ever heard of Bitcoin SV. Bitcoin SV is a fork of the original Bitcoin blockchain, under the leadership of Craig Wright, who claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the formerly anonymous creator of Bitcoin.
While I'm not here to say whether or not Mr. Wright is the true creator of Bitcoin, I am here to play and share my opinion on what might be the most innovative game we've seen on this series to date!

Kiraverse is an upcoming metaverse third person shooter battle royale JPEG collection deathmatch blockchain crypto economy game made by "triple A" developer Param Labs. The other day, they opened their beta test to the public. I had a chance to give the game a try, and after spending a few hours in the game, I'm unimpressed.
Kiraverse looks and feels like a low effort asset flip, and the version they provided us for the beta is a very incomplete product. Also, it is literally just the Lyra Unreal Engine Starter Project, except somehow even worse. We need to stop accepting unfinished games as "betas". If your game is missing all of the features that you advertise, then you can't say it's in a beta, it's not even close to done!
Today, we also introduce the lore of the GameStop NFT marketplace. We explored another game in the past that was on this marketplace, Gods Unchained, but the volume for that game is so low on the marketplace it wasn't even worth mentioning.
I couldn't prove that Kiraverse is an asset flip, so definitely do your own research there. However, if you do manage to find an example of the assets they have used in game on the Unreal Asset store, I'd definitely be interested in seeing that!

A completely unfinished prototype, another game you can't actually play, and an asset flip of a much more successful game, with promises for "cross IP play".
NFT and Crypto games continue to be some of the worst examples of Pay to Win monetization coupled with some of the laziest game developers I've ever seen. We're pretty much a dozen games in with this series and have yet to find a game that provides a compelling reason to have NFTs. However, we have certainly found a bunch of games that know how to charge players $100s of dollars for an experience that could be found completely free of charge.

Gods Unchained is a decentralized competitive card game. At its core Gods Unchained is a blockchain-based game, enabling users to trade and sell their cards freely, attempting to create a digital trading card game where users can "truly own" their cards. However, I have some doubts regarding that claim.
Gods Unchained's marketing campaign focuses on "True Ownership", indicating that they're looking out for the player's best interest by allowing this marketplace system. However, with a 9% transaction fee on every purchase and card packs that retail for $120 for only 5 cards, are they really looking out for the players, or are they just looking to hop on the crypto trend to make a quick buck?
God's Unchained's gameplay is an almost perfect clone of Hearthstone, a much more popular game, and one that does not include Crypto. Additionally, despite being in beta for 5 years now, Gods Unchained still feels very unpolished. Almost all of the cards share the same set of sounds and animations, the client is nothing more than a placeholder, and there is a serious lack of tutorials.
If I didn't already know how to play Hearthstone and have a decent understanding of crypto, there is just no way I would find this game worth the time investment. The learning curve that crypto carries is way too steep, plus the game hiding beneath the barrage of crypto and Web3 terms isn't that great to begin with.
With a peak playerbase of nearly 40,000, Gods Unchained now comfortably sits below 8,000 players on any day. And this isn't accounting for the large amount that are just bots, as the game does reward you a few cents an hour for playing the game. The company behind the game, ImmutableX, recently partnered with declining brick-and-mortar game store GameStop in a $100 million venture to expand Web 3 gaming. Why GameStop, a company that sells way better games than this, thinks that this game will be the pioneer of Web3 gaming, is beyond me.
Oh yeah, GameStop is a Web3 company now too. Maybe I'll talk about them in a future video, depending on if it's something people are interested in seeing.
Anyway, that's about it. Thanks for watching, or if you actually read all of this, thanks for reading too!

This video features my first impressions and a full review of another one of the largest and most popular Metaverses, The Sandbox. In 2022, the term "Metaverse" seems to be thrown around constantly, with even places like Wal-Mart and The UPS Store having shops open within the metaverse. But... what is The Metaverse? What does it look like? Can I play it today?
I hope to answer all of those questions in more, in today's episode of "Worst Crypto Game Ever?". Here I take a deep dive into the $1B crypto metaverse of The Sandbox and review it from the perspective of a gamer. Gamers are known to be a rather picky bunch, especially when it comes to games that include trendy things like Crypto and NFTs, so it's no surprise that there has been a ton of controversy surrounding NFT Games so far.
The Sandbox is an extremely unfinished game that, unlike Decentraland, hasn't actually sold out of all it's land plots. However, it seems pretty contrary to the purpose of a creative game when they limit how many players are able to buy land to... create on. Imagine Minecraft, except you can't build anything unless you spend $10 per chunk of land. And if there's no chunks left, you have to buy a chunk from someone who has raised the price 1000% in hopes some bigger fool will come along to buy it from them.
Would you play that game?
The current state of The Sandbox is hardly even a game, as the extremely basic example worlds they allow you to play for free are more depressing than they are enticing. I did mention this is a singleplayer only game, right?

Gamers are known to be a rather picky bunch, especially when it comes to games that include trendy things like Crypto and NFTs, so it's no surprise that there has been a ton of controversy surrounding Decentraland so far.
But with the game's poor performance, confusing interface, and overall poor gameplay, Decentraland stands in 2022 as more of a black sheep in the metaverse industry, with player counts hardly reaching over 200 on even the busiest days. How much longer will Decentraland be around, and will the players ever manage to sell the land that they purchased in 2021, hoping to double their money? With players still trying to sell land at minimum prices over $1000, there is little volume in this Metaverse's economy, since it is very rare for new people to buy into Decentraland. Additionally, all of the initial plots sold out in the first 30 seconds of the game's first launch, so the land market is completely controlled by the players at this point. The result is the current state of Decentraland, a game with a stagnant economy, a declining playercount, and an overall embarrassing presentation. Buckle up, and enjoy the ride.
