Music DungeonThis was a little project that I had started last year and had kinda sitting around for a while, I'm deciding to upload it since I feel this does give the album a much needed "trimming of the fat". There's a lot of good ideas here that are either poorly executed or just overstay their welcome(those bloated song lengths). The idea was to keep the songs intact, while getting to the point, essentially. For the most part, this works very well and makes this album less of a slog in my eyes. Is it as revelatory as I'm making it out to be? That's for you to decide, but just remember this was mostly for my own personal use at first. If you enjoy the edits I've done, I may upload my condensed version of Death Magnetic(not all of the tracks are cut down, as this was again, for my own personal use).

This one is a little darker a bit more "90s" at times, but is still easily identifiable as the same band. As to whether I prefer this over the first album, I'd say I tend to flip flop on which one I like better, but that goes to show how high quality both releases really are. I would personally say this one feels a little bit more focused since there aren't any skits/interludes here to bridge stuff together, the tracklist is a bit leaner overall because of it. Personal favorites are Smile Mother, Recant, Fallen in Hate and The Nightmare Song.
There were some lineup changes between their first album and this release. According to Kevin Carey of The Gallows Humor, he actually auditioned to become a guitarist for this act in between the first and second albums, but ultimately didn't get the job. If you have no idea who The Gallows Humor are, you're in luck because I uploaded both of their albums to this very channel. If you're a fan of Proggy "Grunge" stuff, you'll probably dig it.

I unfortunately don't have a ton of background on the band since fans of them are very very few and far between. Anyway, this is essentially a Progressive Rock album that isn't afraid to touch on some of the emerging Alternative stylings of the time, while not abandoning its 70s roots. There's a bit of Metal, a bit of funk, a couple Prog epics, etc. Pretty much something for everyone. The singer, Max Vanderwolf, has an extremely distinct voice that you'll either love or hate. The musicianship here is top notch though, the songs are complex, but still catchy enough to keep you bobbing your head. I wish these guys had a better label and wider distribution because the stuff on here is CRIMINALLY unknown in my opinion.
My personal favorites are probably A Song on Fire, Stillborn, Blackberry Saturday and Next Stop, Chapel Perilous. Also there's a neat cover of Bowie's "Andy Warhol" at the very end of the album(it's considered a hidden track since it's not listed anywhere).

Stylistically, this album is generally more straight forward than the two Naked Sun CDs, but there's still a lot of the same genre hopping and quirks from the former band to satiate a desire for a "third album", this is about as close as you're gonna get to one and honestly, it sounds absolutely NOTHING like those albums. So I'd recommend dropping your preconceptions and just enjoying the ride.

What makes this band noteworthy is that Don Garrison of Mainiax fronted them during their entire duration. The Drummer, Mike Dunn, is actually the father of my best friend and bandmate. This is basically how we got a hold of it. The music on here is actually really good, there's a lot of Sabbath/early Kyuss influence, along with some prog tendencies. There's also a good helping of standard metal attitude on here as well.

It's a 4 track EP with a lot heavier Kyuss/Stoner Metal influence(not enough to call it Stoner Metal, however). Really good stuff overall. The Prog tendencies are very apparent on the track "Mastermind".

I found this on a CD-R at a friend's house, and it had 2 bonus songs that were recorded in 1983. These bonus songs are very AOR in sound, so take that as you will(I don't think they can be found anywhere else). I also have some material from the band Shovelhead(Don from Mainiax was in this band) that I plan to upload. My friend's dad was the drummer in that band. Right now, I have a full album and an EP that I can upload, but there's still more stuff that I'm waiting on.

These 2 songs are actually pretty good and deserve to be heard by more people. Also, the middle section of Pandilla is sung in English, rather than Spanish like on the 92 version. The cover was made by me.

The sound on here is a bit more refined, showing some influence from Queensryche's "Empire" in that they balance their metal sound with hard rock. It also sounds similar a TNT album, so if you like them, this should be an enjoyable listen. This is the 2nd time this album was recorded as they had recorded a different version in 1990, which included 2 songs that do not reappear here. In turn, there are 4 tracks on this version that do not appear on the 1990 version.

Overall, this album basically picks up where the first one ended stylistically. If you liked the first album then you'll love this. Music like this should've been bigger at the time as it has a similar sound to what was popular but it's done in a more technical way. I guess it all boils down to what label you're signed to.

People I've shown this band to have described them as "Alice in Chains if they played prog metal/rock". A very fitting description indeed. This album is full of very interesting instrumentation on both the more straight forward tracks and on the instrumentals(namely Wuh-Buh-Juh CUYA). A lot of the music has a sort of oddly depressing quality to it, which adds to the unique atmosphere.

It features Steve Post, Paul Laganowski(R.I.P. 2017), and Takis Kinis of the Technical Thrash band Realm, drummer Brian Reidinger(Axis, Malicious, Gemini) and Buddo of Last Crack.
The music is not very close to Realm despite most of the members belonging to said band. It's more akin to what Buddo did with Last Crack, though it's a lot more aggressive and certainly darker than his former band.
