Mr. Mulligan - how the Howard DGA-6 won the Bendix Trophy Martin Pauly 2023-11-04 | Mr. Mulligan is a Howard DGA-6 replica, built by Jim Younkin and acquired by Doug Rozendaal after Younkin's death. The original Mr. Mulligan was built specifically to win the Bendix Trophy, a famous air race from California to Cleveland, OH. The aircraft won the race in 1935, flown by Benny Howard and Gordon Israel; a couple of days later, it also won the Thompson Trophy, a closed-course pylon race at the 1935 National Air Races.In this video, Doug Rozendaal tells the story of Mr. Mulligan and gives an overview of this beautiful airplane. Aspen/Garmin Digital Autopilot Interface - my upgrade is complete! Martin Pauly 2023-03-17 | My panel upgrade is complete - the FAA has approved Aspen's new software for the Evolution PFD, and with that the avionics shop could reinstate the digital autopilot interface between the Aspen Evolution MAX PFD and the Garmin GFC 600 autopilot. At last, I have arrived at the end of this upgrade journey, after about 13 months.What you see here is what I believe is the very first (and maybe still only, at the time the video was made) airplane which has this new digital autopilot interface between Aspen and Garmin. New Avionics in the Bonanza - First Flight after the Upgrade Martin Pauly 2022-11-19 | A long journey is coming to an end - my Bonanza N70TB is back home in the hangar after ten months of upgrades and development/certification work. Let me give you a tour of the new setup, which is centered around the Aspen Evolution MAX flight displays and Garmin's GFC600 digital autopilot. The system also contains two Garmin GTN 750 Xi GPS/NAV/COM units, a GI 275 backup instrument, remote-mounted Garmin audio panel, transponder and active traffic system. For engine monitoring, I kept the JPI EDM 930 from my old setup.The installation was done by Karl Gardner and his team at Gardner Lowe Aviation Services in Peachtree City, GA (Falcon Field). Garmin and Aspen have worked together on a digital interface between the Aspen PFD and the Garmin autopilot to enable features such as altitude preselect; these features are not yet enabled at the time this video was made because the FAA is still reviewing the new software version.
