GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNELMany of the documentaries I made in my life, covered my personal heroes. And here are tribute titles to two of them. Isambard Kingdom Brunel and George Stephenson. A finer pair of engineers you would struggle to find, especially for the railways.
As a child, I lived in Cornwall near Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge, over the river Tamar. It is historically alleged that when he was overseeing the building of the bridge, he actually stayed in our house, near Torpoint, at a spot just a half mile walk to an easy sea level view of his work. My home featured an old gothic tower where apparently, he could sit undisturbed, gaze out the turret windows and work on the plans.
Although I cannot categorically prove this tale, it's fair to say that Maryfield House was completed in 1847 - seven years before construction started in May of eighteen fifty-four. So, it was a grand new house in the Gothic style and most unusual for the area, on the estate of the local Carew Pole family.
As of 1969, I would regularly travel from Bristol Temple meads to Plymouth by train, always in awe of the Dawlish stretch running so close to the sea where I would always throw a penny into the water for good luck.
Then we have George Stephenson - the uneducated son of a colliery fireman, who is listed in the Dictionary of National Biography as being the inventor and founder of railways. His most famous invention in fact, being the Rocket.
Stephenson's Rocket was involved in the first railway fatality. While George Stephenson designed the locomotive, his son Robert is credited with its refinement and the actual construction. On the opening day of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830, William Huskisson, a Member of Parliament, was struck and killed by the Rocket. He was attempting to cross the tracks when he was hit by the train.

The Wars of the Roses, known at the time and in following centuries as the Civil Wars, were a series of armed confrontations, machinations, battles and campaigns fought for control of the English throne from 1455 to 1487.
The conflict was fought between supporters of the House of Lancaster (whose emblem was a red rose[contradictory]) and House of York (a white rose), two rival cadet branches of the royal House of Plantagenet. The conflict resulted in the end of Lancaster's male line in 1471, leaving the Tudor family to inherit, through the female line, the Lancaster claim to the throne. Conflict was largely brought to an end upon the union of the two houses through marriage, creating the Tudor dynasty that would subsequently rule England. #britishhistory @waroftherosesD-DAY A British Special Binge Watch | 2026+ PROMO with LINK (Tribute to surviving vets)GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-06-11 | THIS IS A SHORT PROMO; dedicated to the less than 100 British survivors in June 2026. THE LINK for the Binge watch is below. If this topic interests you, please pop over to the World at War Archive Channel. youtube.com/@WorldatWarArchive **************************************** D Day. June the Sixth, 1944. Forever needed to be recognised as an event of truly global magnitude. One of the really big ones.
When united Allied forces hit the beaches of Northern France en masse at the start of a big push against the German forces that had threatened and then acted against the best rule of law and democracy the world had come up with to that time.
But now we are fast losing the survivors and witnesses in two thousand and twenty-six. Eighty-two years later, the last of those heroes and observers are well into their nineties and hundreds.
It is estimated that only 31,000 world war two veterans in total remain alive in the USA. Fewer than 8,000 in the United Kingdom.
And of course, a much lower living body count for the D Day survivors. Just a few thousand worldwide. And in fact, less than one hundred in the UK.
Which makes their testimonies on film of greater value and significance, and frankly, the work of preservation by documentary makers, me included, of greater importance than when I started presenting war history programmes about 40 years ago now.
In my 68th year, with a significant archive, I truly feel a greater responsibility than all the years before. But maybe that is because I can also see the end of my perch these days.
There are 3 titles presented here in this 3-hour binge watch. It includes one minute comfort breaks between each video in support of those like me who need to find a dunny more often than we used to.
Or to just get another favourite bevvy and stack up the biscuits plate.
The first title is a 30-year-old production "Britain at War - D Day Landings". I didn't produce this. But I have bought a lot of titles over the years in order to support the preservation and presentation of these unique works.
Second video is one of mine. "D - DAY; THE NORMANDY INVASION". I had a lotta fun filming a (rented) Spitfire for this. They move quick!
And lastly, to complete this pack - "D DAY BEACHES; THEN AND NOW". Again, presented by me but this is where in addition to the archive used, I travelled with trust camera, to the locations in France from the beaches to the cemeteries, a moving experience filled with sadness, ghosts and a surprising number of weeping vets when I made this, about 25 years ago. I suspect most of those I met are now no longer with us.
I hope this work pleases you and supports the eternal message
Slanche Liam Dale #ww2 #wwII #ddaydocumentaryUNIQUE Luftwaffe Films (1934). A real eye opener 9/6/26GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-06-09 | For those of you who follow world war two history, I need to make mention here of something rather special on another of my channels. It's not Brit content, so it cannot feature on GBCFTV.
Since the early 1980's I've owned two rolls of 16mm film, liberated from Berlin by an American gee Eye.. and his son sold them to me 40 years later.
They are Luftwaffe propaganda films, original prints from 1934. From during the time, that Germany was NOT allowed to be developing machines of war.
The content, especially the "archetypal Jews" footage is unreal. But the biplanes are amazing.
What is special about these rolls of film are the cases. They are actually embossed/imprinted with the symbol of the Luftwaffe; an eagle carrying a swastika.
I've never seen this on film cans. It is standard Luftwaffe insignia though. If you want to jump over for a look, they are on the WORLD AT WAR ACHIVE channel.

You might find it of more interest and then come back to THESE TWO TITLES when you choose. youtu.be/9S9t35qLmnI
Having been in showbiz and television for over fifty years now, I have regrettably worked with, or bumped into, even lunched with, predator paedophiles subsequently revealed past my time at the BBC et al, and that Operation Yewtree was as much of an eye opener revelation to me as most of the public in reality.
As a result of the Yewtree announcement, I did have chats with the team specifically regarding ANNOUNCEMENT - Before you watch this, you might prefer the bigger and more revelatory title I uploaded today. And then perhaps come back to these two titles. It's quite a bean spill!
Freddie Starr. I kept two well-known personalities, personal anecdotes private for now, as both are still alive. Both incidents took place at the London Palladium. Well three really. The Lionel Blair story is a tale for another day, but the other two are still showbiz active although well past their abusing date. I’m still thinking about that possibility.
Meanwhile, there are four public notoriety level offenders I’m covering in Great British paedophiles. Two of whom, will feature here in this part one upload.
First, the late and once great Jimmy Savile, now buried in an unmarked grave, his Scottish Cottage demolished and his legacy in ruins alongside the countless victims who never got their day in court or satisfaction of judgement.
I had lunch at the BBC canteen with Jimmy on one occasion. More of a table availability matter rather than a dining companion choice.
What made matters so much more revolting with the Saville case, was the fact that he was genuinely an amazing charity fund raiser, who raised about forty million with his efforts and promotions. The marathons, the simple pleasure of dreams being realised with Jim’l fix it and onwards.
I just thought he was likely a closet discreet gay with his dress sense and quirky mannerisms. Although he did pick his nose while eating, which was enough to look away from. Not one hint of an attraction to me. He just set off my gaydar over that hour at a cheap canteen table.
Next, Paul Gadd, otherwise known as Gary Glitter. At least he is residing and likely to die in confinement at his majesty’s pleasure. Gadd was a monstrous repeat offender on an international scale and is seeing out his unhealthy old age at a specialised protection unit in Southwest England. I didn’t know Gadd personally, but I worked with Mike Leander his song writer for 6 months on a uniquely interesting pair of projects. Mike was a major Glitter songwriter, composing a host of hits, including Rock n Roll parts 1 and 2, I’m the leader of the gang, Do you wanna touch me amongst others. Royalties from these productions paid me for my work.
I can emphatically confirm that Mike had no clues as to the hidden Glitter agenda. They weren’t hugely personal friends, it was simply showbusiness and Mike died in 1996 of cancer. Mike lived with his wife Penny and a host of housebound cats in an upper storey apartment in London’s West End. He had the idea to make a TV programme for housebound cats to watch when the owners were out. He asked me if I wanted a fee or a percentage. I said, the idea is bats. I want a fee. And I was duly paid.
COOL FOR CATS became my first one million plus VHS tape sale. I got that call wrong. HUGE reviews in broadsheet newspapers, alongside the tabloids with big pictures of cat reactions, from rolling around to launching themselves at the TV screens, I had put some thought into this, with audio frequencies and sounds that only cats could hear.
Mike contacted me again a while later and asked if I would like to repeat the project only this time for housebound dogs. Again, did I want a feee or a percentage. Hell, yes, I want a percentage I said. COOL FOR DOGS bombed. Both sales and with dogs. Who mostly went back to sleep when it was on or carried on tearing up newspapers. Anyway, it’s a fun anecdote about Mike. Who was blissfully ignorant as was I, of Glitter’s abhorrent behaviour and abuse. #garyglitter #jimmysavile #paedophilesOPERATIONAL HEIGHT - 1943 (British Air Force, Royal Navy, Merchant Navy) Balloon ShipsGREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-05-26 | Operational Height is a 1943 British documentary film produced by the Royal Air Force Film Production Unit (RAF FPU).

In 1969, Queen Elizabeth II conducted two significant naval reviews: a major international assembly of NATO forces at Spithead in May, and a review of the Royal Navy's Western Fleet at Torbay in July. Together, they showcased post-war maritime capabilities and a new Queen's Colour presentation.
On July 28, the Queen reviewed the ships from the Royal Yacht Britannia and subsequently presented a new Queen's Colour to the Western Fleet aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle. #royalfamily #britishnavy #navalhistoryHOLIDAY - 1950s and 1960s (I THINK!)GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-05-15 | I have no labels or data for this programme. Collings tries to identify ten different components of beauty with reference to some of his favourite artworks. So, with all the above, I feel well qualified to present these two back-to-back titles with a comfort break thrown in for good measure between them. I hope they please your eyes and ears.
SLANCHE... Liam DaleTOM -TOM The Cat with TEN Lives.. (Liam Dale audiobook test)GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-02-11 | Anthropomorphism - The casting of human voices onto animals.
Or.. as Google would put it - The attribution of human characteristics or behaviour to non-human entities, including animals. Some people are more inclined to anthropomorphize than others, but it is a common way of perceiving and interacting with the world.
I spend most of my time in the duck compound, quacking at them and they quack back. But somewhere underneath I hear whispered words in Thai and English.
This is the first two test chapters of TOM TOM. A work in progress.

Here is a pleasant little nostalgia piece for young and old alike, 40 years old, set in the good old nineteen eighties, when we used to push monster sized video tapes into machines, and spend 10 minutes trying to find the tracking buttons.
What I particularly like about this production, it was filmed entirely by me, before reality, growth and girth crept in, and I had to have production staff and form a company. I REMEMBER EVERY SHOT. Footplate filming and generally getting stuck in with a camera was so much fun.!
Hope you like this Great British steam driven classic.
Cheers.. Liam Dale #steamtrains #steamrailway #vintagetrainsLIBERATION - FREEDOM DAY; ARTEMIS 2 OF GOOSESGREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2026-02-08 | 8th February 2026 - Window of opportunity for liberation and launch of 10 baby Geese. (ARTEMIS 2 OF GOOSES).
At NAGA. ALL these geese, ducks, dogs, n cats are rescues. The geese come from a re-housed pair who were going to the pot for "being too noisy". They for sure are now!
ALL these ducks were born here. From an original hatch 5 years ago. I LOVE TO SEE FEARLESS animals getting on with their lives, not a care in the world. When the flock needs to be thinned, I personally catch them and crate them up quickly. Move them out to a stock house and arrange collection there out of earshot, sight and trauma for the main families. NO ONE DIES HERE, except by natural causes. Every illness is fought with everything I have and every death is mourned.

Here is the story, warts and all, of how it happened. Since those dark days, Liam Dale has come a long way. As personal manager of top comics and T.V. personalities, he regularly rubs shoulders with the rich and famous, and now enjoys a lifestyle he could only ever dream of.

In the early 2000's, I started to look at how I could tell the stories of World War 2 in greater depth than a fifty-minute TV show would give me. I warmed up on individual topics such as D Day, Dunkirk, Adolf Hitler, Pearl Harbor etc.
But I was also covering ground that had previously been produced, albeit telling stories in different ways. At the end of the day, there was a world war between 1939 and 1945. We have the footage, we have the pictures, we have the details and descriptions of events that took place, but the facts and indeed the fiction will always remain roughly the same. It can just be told in a different order.
I was commissioned to make a series called The War Diaries, each an annual look, at those 7 years and the series was a big success on DVD at the time.
At around the same time, I made Theatre of War - The Pacific, a six-part series to cover in greater detail the specifics of the Pacific Campaign.
And with growing confidence, I decided to tackle a 12 x one-hour chronological TV series called The World War Two Archives. My transition to television from special interest video and DVD took place with this production.
As a result of this growing portfolio of edits, writings, compositions and yet more archive shopping, it dawned on me that in principle, there were 24 x three-month periods during this catalogue in history as near as needs be, from September 1939 and 1945.
So, the seed that had germinated in long form archive storytelling, coupled by the seduction of challenging the great British TV series The world at War, which had stirred my soul with its rich tapestry of wordcraft, skilled presentation and expensively rare color archive back in the 1970's, I set about the ridiculously overwhelming task of producing 150,000 words to make WORLD WAR TWO; COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY - A complete timeline.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the launch of this massive venture, we are re-releasing the original series completely as it was produced two decades ago, in all its black and white glory. Over the years it generated about 100 million views on television, became hugely popular specifically in Brazil and established me as a viable historic documentary maker, now with circa 5,000 titles under my enlarged belt.
Updated, uprezzed, colorized and corrected errors, it is of course out there as THE CALL OF DUTY and is being translated into ten different languages.
But for those who prefer archive to remain in its original black and white format, for those who may remember this series on British TV and indeed all around the world to New Zealand and back, it is a historical reminder of the past - LEST WE FORGET as well as being a tribute to how we made documentaries back in those days, with no A/I, special effects or video gimmicks.
It is a simple recording of one of the most consequential and devastating periods of lost life in human history.
Modern binge watchers will need to forgive the "reminders and recap" portions. It was of course produced to be transmitted over twenty-four weeks of terrestrial television. Not binge watched over a long weekend or holiday as is the custom 20 years later.
I hope it pleases your eye, your brain and your memory and at risk of repeating myself... Lest We Forget.
It was Mark Twain who allegedly said, "History never repeats itself, but sometimes it rhymes".
As I write these words in the first week of January 2026, I am stunned by the players of the world who flaunt with the possibility of further conflicts on an epic scale, in pursuit of domination, oil, control, autocracy and the potential destruction of democracy.
At sixty-seven years old, I pass the baton and hope the next generation of documentary makers can take my cause onwards, after I slip off the end of my personal perch, and move my words onwards as testimony to man's inhumanity to man.
All the best.. Liam Dale #ww2 #ww2documentary #liamdaleGREAT BRITISH WINTER BINGE WATCH with Liam Dale Ghosts - Authors - Countryside (7 hours!)GREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2025-12-23 | For Christmas & New Year - The winter of 2025 A special compilation.
As days get shorter, leaves change colour and a thin hint of cooler climes fills the early morning air, it's time to create a Winter Binge Watch of warmer progs for the Great British Classic Film & TV Channel, as our holiday offering.
Along with comfort breaks between programmes, this collection covers all you need for a weekend or holiday armchair settle down. Pots of tea, scones and toast with Oxford Marmalade seem the order of the day or evening and a chance to explore or re-explore some historic British Culture.
We've taken the six episodes of Rural Britain; a Novel approach, a hugely popular classic authors and English countryside series, broken it up with episodes of Liam Dale's Ghostly Trails, a historical rather than hysterical look at some of Britain's ghostly glory, and to complete the epic offering, two special single standalones. A tiptoe through the life and home of Jane Austen, one of the world's most revered authors and a sobering program on the life of Edward Jenner and the cure for smallpox. (Think Covid).
All these topics are close to Liam's heart and are among his small collection of heroes and heroines, benefiting from his own word craft and personal approach to presentation, for the small screen in a digital age. We hope you are armed with Rich Tea and Bourbon biscuits, along with a favourite beverage or three and this series meets with your armchair approval.

(Christmas/New Year 2025) with Liam DaleGREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2025-12-22 | It's a troubled world out there, but Brits have a "stiff upper lip" reputation, and as far as I am personally concerned, this time of year, is ALWAYS the "Season to be jolly".
So HERE is "SEARCHING FOR SANTA CLAUS" a piece of "armchair nostalgia and escapism".
I adored my times making Christmas specials, especially Father Christmas films. Here I was fortunate enough to have my family paid for as well, to travel to Lapland, where it was so cold I had to keep camera batteries down my trousers to preserve power! It's a lovely nostalgic programme for any time of the year. #fatherchristmas #santaclaus #xmas2025 #christmas2025VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES - Binge Watch 2 Hours of classics + 2 hours of road runsGREAT BRITISH CLASSIC FILM & TV CHANNEL2025-12-11 | My first real motorcycle was a beautiful Matchless G2 CSR 250cc. And it set me up for a life that ends its days, fifty years later, here in Thailand on a Virago 1100, where my feet can firmly plant on the ground, and the weight is ok, having worked my way through the Harley Davidson thing for more than twenty years.
I still love a Hardly Rideable Tractor Glide, but a Road King is just too heavy and if I can't drop it and lift it up, I don't ride it anymore.
So, it was obvious that in my career making special interest programmes, that I would zero in on classic and vintage motorcycles. Here are four fantastic hours of 2-wheel, smelly vintage metal horses for your nostalgia and memory trip, from the comfort of your own sofa or armchair.
Classic Motorcycles of yesteryear Parts One and Two.. and then a SPIRIT OF THE SIXTIES rally. Finishing off with COAST TO COAST - The UK equivalent of Route 66 for old time machines.
There are comfort breaks between titles.
I hope you enjoy this selection, and indeed perhaps spot models and marks you owned and rode maybe even still. If you see one, please comment!

There are always reporters and cameramen around to make sure the whole world knows about things you'd rather keep to yourself. Bill Clinton = "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."
Of course, in the distant past, those that ruled over us didn't have that problem. They didn't need to worry about the press or the paparazzi poking their noses into their private business. They were safe from the headlines and gossip columns.
Until now. In this programme, the modern media gets its chance to dig the dirt on a cross-dressing pharaoh, a freaky pharaoh, and the nasty business of grave robbing. It is going to expose the private lives of the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. #egypt #pharaohs #ancienthistory
