The MIDI ContinuumMy second musical collab! This is another track that was created for the just-released TNT: Evilution MIDI Pack. Doomworld user Gustavo6046 started things off (everything up to 0:22 is his entirely) and I expanded the concept into a full track, with a buildup into an electric guitar section in the middle. We both agreed to release this as CC0 once the project was out.
Hope you enjoy it. Attribution is not required but is appreciated; please credit both me and Gustavo6046 if you choose to.

It's a great video, but I thought someone should upload the full glitch animation, so I did that.
To see this effect for yourself, set the following memory addresses: $D057 = 03 (wIsInBattle - may be any value greater than 02) $DD65 = C9 (boxed Pokémon stats, prevents a crash) $E15F = C9 (sprite position data, identical to C15F, prevents another crash) $CFCB = 00 (wUpdateSpritesEnabled, prevents a softlock that occurs if this is initiated outside of battle. it may set itself to FF after this, that's fine)

In addition to being released as a standalone PWAD, Double Impact became the fourth episode of the IWAD replacement Freedoom: Phase 1 in 2013, and in 2020 became an official add-on for the Unity port of Doom, introducing it to a wider audience than even the best Doom WADs usually receive.
One small flaw in this otherwise great WAD is its incomplete soundtrack. The original PWAD contained two original tracks and two remixes of Bobby Prince's music. In Freedoom, due to the limitations of the engine, Double Impact simply reuses music from the first three episodes, in the same pattern that Ultimate Doom's fourth episode did, meaning that the music selections fit only a little better than random chance. This project fixes that flaw by providing a new soundtrack for the WAD that can be used with both the PWAD and Freedoom: Phase 1, and which, in the spirit of Freedoom, is absolutely free to reuse and remix. All contributors have explicitly given permission to dedicate their work to the public domain.

Played through Crispy Doom 5.12.0 on Debian Bookworm. Runs are very casual; I play mostly continuous on Ultra-Violence, and try to run through each level once saveless before using saves where I feel it's necessary later.

Apologies for the awkwardness, I don't record playthroughs for an audience often.

But here's a cover of one of my favorite Kraftwerk songs to tide you over. I've been thinking of making my next album a Kraftwerk tribute project, since that would be very easy to come up with ideas for, I already have two or three songs that could fit, and Kraftwerk is my favorite band. See you when I've got more of that done.

A short and exhilirating burst of energy in the form of General MIDI electronic dance music, recorded with the Arachno Soundfont.
In order to break my months-long writer's block, I used the age-old trick of stealing a drum-break. Or more precisely, I started this track by replicating the beat from Kraftwerk's "Numbers", by ear, using very different MIDI drums. That worked pretty well and enabled me to compose this tune. I named it "Gods of Trance" in tribute to Kraftwerk.

This is my attempt at a longer, multi-part composition. The first ~3:30 was made as part of a speed-MIDI session, and included as a bonus track with my album "The MIDI Continuum". The song is now finished, and will hopefully be featured in Chris Hansen's upcoming Ultimate Doom WAD "Hell's Bane." I had the style of the prog rock band "Yes" in mind when composing this, as well as a certain viral image, hence the name.

The "Continuum" suite was initially going to be the whole album, but stalled out after four tracks and I decided to wrap it up as is. Think of it as a spiritual self-titled track representing me as an artist, as Continuum is actually my username in a few places on the Internet. The rest of the album consists of various MIDIs that I hadn't put on an album until now, most of which are made Doom WAD projects.

"Pachelbeldansen" is a mashup of "Caramelldansen" by Caramell, "Pachelbel's Canon" by Johann Pachelbel, and "Dreams of Our Generation" by Tsunku, inspired by the work of jan Misali.
"Tsuki no Koibumi" is a cover of a song originally by Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld and Laura Shigihara.

As is inevitable for a really long video that can't be properly proofread, there are some editing mistakes, but thankfully all of them are purely visual. The screenshot for Doom E1M2 is missing; TNT MAP06 should have been credited to Dragonfly *and Lippeth*; the title for the Plutonia MAP09 music is off-center and erroneously marked MAP10; on Plutonia MAP12, Eris Falling is now Tristan Clark; and the track for Plutonia MAP13 is titled "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". The export took overnight and basically incapacitated my PC, so I'd rather not do it again - sorry! Maybe later if more errors come to light.

intro music: patriciataxxon.bandcamp.com/track/surely-nonethelessMIDIocrity - a Doom-inspired MIDI albumThe MIDI Continuum2021-06-10 | A collection of MIDIs made from February to May 2021, all intended for use in Doom/Freedoom projects. I’m still in the process of learning how to make good MIDI music, so my tracks don’t really compare in quality to the other MIDI artists out there. I’m just happy that some people like these enough to use them in their projects.
Feel free to use these however you want in whatever projects you’re working on. Most of them are even public domain! I only ask that if you use one of the remixes/covers, you attribute both me and the person I am remixing. In the case of “Network” it would be “originally by Patricia Taxxon, arranged for MIDI by Ivan Stanton (northivanastan)”; for “The Mothership’s Wake” it would be “originally by Tom Mustaine, remixed by Ivan Stanton (northivanastan)”; for the others it would be “originally by Bobby Prince, remixed by Ivan Stanton (northivanastan).” Also, I suggest that you message me on Doomworld (I’m northivanastan) if you use one of these MIDIs – I’d love to hear about it and help you with any issues you have.
MIDIs, of course, are included in all of these downloads.
