“He’s Never Going To Get Back The Formative Years” Psychologist On Alex Batty’s Return To UK

Reeves is considering changes such as raising the tax rate, lowering the threshold, or adjusting exemptions. For instance, the rule that allows gifts given more than seven years before death to be tax-free might be revised. Other changes could affect tax breaks for businesses and farmland.
These potential reforms are expected to spark controversy. Although only 4% of estates pay inheritance tax, many see it as unfair. Jeremy Hunt, the Shadow Chancellor, has criticised it as "anti-Conservative."
Reeves' Budget on October 30 is expected to include significant tax hikes.
Dr David Bull hosts a head-to-head debate with journalist Nichi Hodgson and Conservative councillor, Noah Khogali.

However, President Joe Biden acknowledged that the end of the conflict is not near, a sentiment shared by many Palestinians. He did suggest that peace in Lebanon might be more achievable.
Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran condemned Sinwar’s death, calling him a martyr and vowing to continue fighting until Palestine is "liberated." Tensions rose in Lebanon as Iran, Hezbollah’s main supporter, was accused of interfering after it offered to negotiate over a 2006 UN resolution that ended the last Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
Meanwhile, Israel allowed some humanitarian aid into northern Gaza, though Minister Amichai Chikli confirmed a blockade remains in place in areas like Jabalia, where Israeli forces have been engaged in a ground operation for nearly two weeks.
Dr David Bull speaks with Middle East expert, Professor John Strawson about the ongoing situation in the region.

Advocates are calling for stricter screening processes.
Even though there has been an increase in crimes committed by immigrants, only individuals entering the country for employment in healthcare or education are required to present criminal background documents.
Out of the 504,141 work permits issued from January 2021 to March this year, 237,426 individuals did not have their backgrounds verified, as revealed by a study by the Centre for Migration Control.

But despite this, it took a hit of £39.5 million from theft and fraud in its shops in the first half – up 19% on a year earlier – even as it ramped up campaigning on the issue.

New weight loss jabs could be given to unemployed people to help them get back into work, Wes Streeting has suggested.
The Health Secretary said “widening waistbands” were placing a burden on the NHS.
The latest generation of weight loss medicine, like Ozempic or Mounjaro, could be administered to people in order to get them back into employment, and to ease costs to the health service, he added.
Dr. Renée Hoenderkamp has run the numbers: “If every obese person used it, it would cost the UK £6 billion a month!”
