Every time I hear this song, the line “‘til the light leaves my eyes” always reminds me of the one scene in Fuelled where the cat husband is dying and you can quite literally see the light leaving his eyes as he slips away, making me imagine a whole edit of the short set to this song. This music is usually provided by Shakespeare Music, a Lithuanian company that has apparently entered the international market, and its owners have moved to the UK. They use songs from lesser-known artists, and have recently began creating songs from royalty-free sample packs. This Redditor had tried contacting Shakespeare Music in the past, but not much came of it. Training Season (Superdrug Radio Clean Edit) - Dua Lipa | RECREATION Emi Elster 2024-03-29 | Today I was in a Superdrug store and I heard an unusual clean version of Dua Lipa’s song Training Season that censored the words “love feels like a rodeo” from the chorus. I have been in places where innuendos and suggestive lyrics have been censored, but these versions don’t usually air on the radio, and are most likely made for the place’s playlist, or in this case, Superdrug’s own radio station. I found this edit particularly strange because the word “whose” is still there, making the censored part even more awkward. It honestly sounds like a clean edit you’d hear in a Just Dance game. I decided to try my best to recreate this version of Training Season and upload it, since I definitely think that clean versions and specific radio edits are a commonly overlooked form of rare/lost media. Murder On The Dancefloor (KISS FM UK Radio Mix) - Sophie Ellis-Bextor | PARTIAL ARCHIVAL Emi Elster 2024-03-20 | I have decided I’m going to start archiving songs that have specific radio mixes for specific stations, and up first is the KISS FM UK radio mix of Murder On The Dancefloor! This version slightly differs from the original, as it is slightly sped up, and has a notable new beat sound. I’m confused to the existence of this version, as I feel the original is danceable enough, but then again, KISS FM has randomly made radio mixes of songs before, including Mark Ronson’s “Late Night Feelings” (this one was particularly weird because whenever I’d Shazam the mix with extra beats and a faster tempo from KISS FM UK, Shazam would bring up the original song) and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” (this one strangely doesn’t follow the formula the other two do, and is mostly normal until the chorus, when there’s a drum and bass drop). The funny thing about these mixes is that the station never mentions in any way, shape or form that they’re mixes, and they’re honestly quite hard to find, as they don’t show up on streaming services. I have no idea who made the radio mixes for these songs, but I would love to learn more. Due to the mysterious nature of these mixes, I decided I’d archive them if I ever hear them! I apologise in advance that this is only a partial archival, but when I heard this song today, it unfortunately wasn’t from the start, and I also ended this a bit too soon too (I mean, a radio presenter talked over the end of it, and you can hear her at the end of the video, but still).
