Official 3x3 Solve: 4.77 (NR) Cornelius Dieckmann 2018-08-05 | Oops, I did it again. I think it's pretty clear from my reaction that I was completely astonished by this. For one, it's only been two weeks since I got my 4.83, which was tied by Sebastian Weyer last weekend and which I thought I might never beat. For another, I do yellow cross only about once every 300 solves, because my look-ahead is pretty bad on anything but white. However, this scramble was incredibly easy on yellow (x-cross and preserved pair), so I immediately decided to go for it. Still, I wasn't expecting it to be quite that simple, what with the nice remaining two pairs and the forced OLL skip.I'm sure it would've even been slightly faster had it been on white. In an ideal world, I also wouldn't have done U' U before PLL. But 4.77? No complaints. This makes me the first European to get two sub-5s in competition. China Competition Trip (feat. Official Rubiks Cube Average: 7.09 Cornelius Dieckmann 2017-10-17 | My new PB. I'm really happy to be improving, and to be moving slowly but surely towards a sub-7 average. This ranks me 14th in the world and 5th in Europe.Some remarks on the solves: I used multi-slotting for the 3rd/4th pair on solve 1 (R' F R U' F'). On solve 4 I cancelled straight into the OLL (R' U' [R R'] U' R U' R' U F' U F R). On the last sove you can see me shaking my head during inspection because I couldn't see anything good on the scramble, but then I found a relatively simple x-cross. I could have skipped PLL by doing the OLL from the back (R' U' R U M U' R' U Rw), or even cancelling into it, but I was going as fast as I could, so there was little time for recognition. The last layer I did was R U R' U' R' F R F' [Y-Perm] U. What I should have done is F R U' R' U R U R' F' (or some variations of this VERY-EASY-TO-RECOGNISE case). I was done with OLL at around 4.5, so I'd say it's fair to assume that the solve could've been sub-4.70. Rubiks Nations Cup 2017 Final: Australia vs. Germany Cornelius Dieckmann 2017-07-19 | What a night this was, winning the first Rubik's Nations Cup for Germany alongside Sebastian Weyer and Philipp Weyer. Congratulations to Team Australia (Tomoya Firman, Feliks Zemdegs, Jayden McNeill) on finishing second in the tournament. The Australian national anthem is missing in the video, unfortunately. Nerves almost got the better of me, as you can see in my cube-drop one move before the end of my U-Perm. We didn't know that Tomoya had finished with a +2, so we were still very uncertain whether we were going to win until Philipp slammed down his cube. 23.38 is quite good for us, especially considering the significance of the match. We were averaging around 24 in practice, with a PB of 20.6. 11.89 OH Average NR (11.22 without counting +2) Cornelius Dieckmann 2017-03-28 | I don't know how to feel about this: on the one hand I finally managed to break my old average NR of 12.56 with a really nice time, but on the other hand it would possibly have been the new European record average (11.37 at the moment) without the +2. Why did I have to try to do U2' instead of playing it safe and doing U' U'? Oh well, you can always theorise afterwards and say 'this would have happened' and 'I should have done that' and so forth, and it doesn't change anything. In the end it's an 11.89 average, which, as I said, is in itself a nice time.Little side explanation of the first LL: I could have done the normal OLL – R U R' U' R U' R' F' U' F R U R' – but I decided after the first four moves to do CLL instead – R U R' U' R' F R F' – and hope for a three-edge-cycle ELL, which I of course didn't get. Instead, I was left with an opposite two-flip, which is pretty bad for OH, as it includes a lot of M moves. My ‘real’ reaction in that round comes after solve four, and not five, because it (the 7.21) was the last one I did chronologically, as it was an extra attempt. This is ranked 7th in the world and 2nd in Europe as of the time of upload.I'm really happy with this solve. It's my second official sub-6 and beats my old NR by 0.30 seconds. I actually started the average with a 6.77 and this, so of course I became extremely nervous and didn't do well on the rest of the solves, but the 5.58 absolutely makes up for it.
