LordxSaura 2025-07-30 | I was on vacation for the past week or so, so just got back and tried to get done 112. 113 should be very doable with fishing and another 20 paragon levels or so however as a dad gamer, this might be it for me. Rest of the season, I have some cool speed farm build ideas that I want to explore and I will be trying some PvP after a long break!

Full gear, paragon, etc. all shown in the end. You may notice I am not running any reinforcement, and I am actually running Great Feast. I do not recommend this unless you are really trying to push as high pits as possible as this requires very specific fishing with right layout, mob type, and right boss. The reason for this change is that I needed faster kill time during the boss, and Creeping Death is mostly not active during the boss fight. So Great Feast multi and uptime is a great advantage BUT this comes with a downside. Great Feast is bugged and you lose the multi when your reinforcement is up as the game recognizes your reinforcement as a summon, that is why you also see no reinforcement in this run. I simply wanted to have the multi up 100% of the time.

I was quite busy with IRL stuff and was in Forgotten souls jail. Finally got to hit 3x on Finality and difference was noticeable. There is quite more optimization to make. 112 should be quite doable with enough tries and improved gear.

Shadow DoT Wave Necro PIT Tier 110 | Diablo 4 Season 9

LordxSaura 2025-07-10 | I have been in obducite and souls jail. Spent over 100k obducite and 5k+ forgotten souls and still could not 3x Finality on my weapon. That is a substantial 6% dmg increase. Bramble is not a good boss and even then we were able to get it done in time. I should be able to do 111 when i 3x my weapon and gain some paragon levels.

Compared to PTR, I’m still missing around 600 INT and some masterwork optimizations. Once I get those dialed in, I think 111+ should be very doable.

Not actively fishing yet, but I got lucky with a desert map. Even though Malice isn’t the best boss for this build, I have to say it feels super strong and isn’t really picky about bosses. I’ve had clears against Chief Marauder and even Den Mother. Both of which are the worst bosses. So I’m feeling great about this build since I don’t have to fish for the perfect boss anymore. I can confidently say DoT Wave is most likely our best Necro build for season 9!

Blood Wave Necro | No Bug PIT 112 Clear | Season 8 Build Gear Overview

LordxSaura 2025-06-07 | As of now, this is the highest Pit clear in Season 8 without the progression bug. But honestly, beyond a certain point, pits are so heavily influenced by RNG that discrepancies in layouts, mob types, and bosses can easily create differences of more than five minutes. On top of that, there's a known progression bug that can suddenly jump your progress by around 40%. For example, I can kill Seahag in roughly 3-30 minutes which is pretty good, yet I've had many runs where I cleared the dungeon and open the portal 6 minutes remaining, only to face Den Mother, Mother's Judgement, or Blood Bishop. The difference is insane while I can kill Seahag in 3-30 minutes, some bosses often take 6+ minutes. Pit 113 should be very doable, but I don't know If I have the time or luck to be fishing for very very specific PIT combinations.

If pits are supposed to be our endgame challenge content, they definitely require major updates or reworks. As it currently stands, the luck factor makes it incredibly unrewarding. For those watching and trying to judge builds or their optimization, probably the only legitimate comparison you could reasonably make is same-tier, same-boss kill times but even those can vary due to boss mechanics. There are great resources out there for educating yourself further, such as the damage and pit-push articles I'll link below. If you're creating content or optimizing your builds, definitely check these resources. After all, if someone can’t correctly compute even a simple difference between two multipliers, they probably shouldn't question the optimization of your build.

There are also a few things to keep in mind if you're continuing your pit-push journey. There's currently a corpse consumption bug happening in high-density scenarios; this can significantly impact your Flesh Eater uptime during large pulls. Definitely pay close attention to this. I reported it last season and again this season, so hopefully it'll be addressed soon.

Another notable update: I replaced the Sacrificial glyph with Gravekeeper. After collecting a lot of data points, it clearly nets more overall damage, particularly due to the first 20% of boss fights lasting an extremely long time. And yes, Eliminator glyph still remains the best-in-slot option.

Not Your Regular Blood Wave.. This Is SpeedWave | Necro Season 9 Build

LordxSaura 2025-06-04 | This is still an early theorycraft more of a proof of concept for what could become a great speed farmer Season 9! I only had time to put it together and test it on the final day of PTR, so there’s plenty of room left to optimize. Gameplay examples are not the best, especially the hordes, as I had to do a quest and only had one sigil :D

⚠️ Note: Pit speed farming will require a slightly different setup compared to other content. This version is sacrificing a lot of multipliers to speed things up as you do not need much damage to do most of T4 content. This version isn’t relying on any bugs, so it should translate straight into Season 9. Considering how everything gets adjusted post PTR, this build might be top 3 necro builds! How Good Is Blood Wave After the Overpower Nerfs? | Season 9 PTR

LordxSaura 2025-05-31 | Been testing tons of seasonal powers, Disintegrate Beam is the best combination i have ever tested. I believe it will be the meta when it comes to pit pushing. Overpower is nerfed by 80%. Blood Wave is now doing maybe 1% of its previous damage. I understand the need to shake up the meta. Necro needs new S-tier builds to stay exciting. I don’t think Blood Wave should be nerfed any further. Maybe Overpower additive should be nerfed to 90%, or reduce Blood Overpower tempers to better balance OP and non-OP builds.

It’s already a niche playstyle, and killing it doesn’t help. We need to buff other builds instead.

Hopefully, we see some good changes before PTR ends. Additionally, been testing tons of seasonal powers, Disintegrate is the best combination i have ever tested. I believe it will be the meta when it comes to pit pushing.

TRILLIONS with DoTs?! Desecrated Ground is back | Season 9 PTR

LordxSaura 2025-05-29 | OG “Poop Wave” DoT build is back — and it’s stronger than ever. This variant also plays very very different than the OP blood wave in terms of gameplay! You never need to pick up orbs, and this is more stationary, stacking monsters on top of layers of desecrated ground
This version isn’t relying on any bugs, so it should translate straight into Season 9. The run was clean and comfortable, and there’s still plenty of room to min-max gear and push higher.

Unfortunately, my recorder missed the first minute or so of this run. Also, Den Mother is a rough boss matchup, but even with that, the build easily cleared Tier 101. I’ve only just picked this variant back up, so expect more updates as I continue testing.

Damage numbers were turned off during the run, but the thumbnail shows one of the high ticks from a different attempt. Based on current results, I believe Tier 103 is possible before PTR ends.

New Season 9 Powers! This might be the BEST combo | PTR Testing

Most builds are nerfed across the board, so Pit 105 is basically the new Pit 110. Can definitely push more, this was a comfortable run. 107 or 108 might be possible.

Spent a good chunk of time testing new seasonal powers and figuring out the best ones for Blood Wave. So far, these new powers feel way better than season 8. Gameplay is smoother, snappier, and actually impactful.

I’ll be making a full deep-dive video soon, but let me just say: Astral Pillar is looking absolutely goated. It deserves its own breakdown on a separate video, but for now, check out this gameplay snippet to see it in action. More testing still to come, but it's looking like a clear standout so far.

Masterworking note: MW is currently bugged on PTR (higher than normal crits). I’ve tried to MW in a way that doesn’t inflate damage too much, so this clear shouldn’t feel misleading.

Once things get finalized, I’ll drop the full updated build guide, stay tuned!

Blood Wave Necro | 12-Minute Pit 111 (Best Clear, Build has been fully optimized)

I woke up this morning to several questions like, "Is Bone Prison better for this build?" Apparently, another content creator made a video showing a slightly faster Pit Tier 111 clear and advertised Bone Prison as a new "special tech" and the best way of running this build. Clearing pits faster by just a few seconds has never been a meaningful measure, as pits are full of RNG factors, making an apples-to-apples comparison impossible. Literally who spends more time, better gear, better luck will achieve better timers (Speaking of RNG, his run actually had the progression bug where his pit progression jumped by 35%). For perspective, I already cleared Tier 111 two weeks ago, and I don't even actively push tiers now. When I do attempt to push, I go for Pit Tier 112 (scaling jumps roughly 28% per tier after 110, so progress naturally takes time). However, due to the other content creator's video, there was some confusion about whether Bone Prison is better, as the video was presented in that way. I quickly jumped in to get a better timer to clearly demonstrate that pits alone are never a valid measure to claim one build version is better than another. Not trying to call anyone out here, but this particular person's builds often appear very suboptimal at first, and then somehow always seem to adapt shortly after I release my guides. I'd rather avoid drama, and I think his pattern is already well-known within the community, which is why I typically choose to let it go. However, when I notice something misleading, I feel it's important to respectfully share my perspective and clarify things for the community.

This video and post isn't to prove superiority (last thing i want is a pissing contest), it's actually to emphasize that pits alone don't prove anything and clarify any potential future questions.
In fact, we can answer this question objectively by using quantification and mathematics to avoid any confusion:
I think Bone Prison is a good idea, one that many other Necros have fiddled with as it has been a common application since its buff across many other builds. But in my opinion, it's actually a suboptimal way of playing this build. There are multiple reasons for this, and I'll elaborate below with factual and mathematical explanations.

In reality, the damage difference from losing a single darkness ability with Reaper’s Pursuit (going from 6 darkness abilities down to 5) is slightly less than 6%, precisely 5.7%. Bone Prison provides a 15% increase. By placing Bone Prison on the skill bar instead of one darkness ability, you actually gain around a 9% net increase (specifically 8.7%), not the 7% he claimed. His calculation was slightly off because these numbers don't simply add or subtract; they belong in different multiplier buckets.

So, you might think, "Oh, isn't 9% even better?" Unfortunately, no. Bone Prison is very conditional. Waves frequently push monsters around, and Bone Prison has a small area, often making it difficult to place effectively, especially on DR mobs (the most important targets). As a result, you end up micro-managing yet another ability, ultimately losing overall DPS. There's also the broader aspect of action economy: instead of using Bone Prison, you could cast another Blight or consume corpses. Due to the constant juggling, Bone Prison often leads to DPS loss rather than gain. Essentially, you can have roughly 6% more damage consistently with no conditions to all targets, or around 9% more damage only conditionally when Bone Prison casted effectively to some targets.

CC also mentioned, Bone prison makes Sacrificial glyph useless. Which is incorrect, this was true before season 5 then it was fixed.

You also can't simply drop Lucky Hit Chance to Vulnerable from rings just by running Bone Prison. Relying on Bone Prison for Vulnerable application results in very poor uptime and limited coverage, leaving most monsters unaffected.

If you really would like to drop a darkness skill for another ability, I highly encourage using Blood Mist. It offers quick in-and-out mobility, serves as a CC breaker with Unstoppable, and grants a 10% Crit Chance and an additional 10% Crit Damage multiplier. So before even considering Bone Prison, Blood Mist would clearly be the better alternative.

Personally, I don't actively push pits anymore. I only do it occasionally to demonstrate proof of concept. Right now, pit gameplay feels quite unpleasant due to excessive CC, DR mobs, and heavy RNG determining outcomes. If you decide to continue pushing pits, good luck! I was cleaning some storage on my computer and was deleting my Season 7 footages but at the last minute realized I had a better run, so just decided to post it. Since PTR I have not played D4 much at all, and was dabbling into PoE2 and Last Epoch, but definitely ready to be back to D4. I honestly lost the motivation to push after PTR because I had so many runs where I popped the boss portal between 12:10 to 12:20, but it was either Mother's Judgement or Blood Bishop. With a good boss, it could have been like under 3:40 or 3:50 runs which was somewhat my seasonal goal. But with how much discrepancy and RNG there is in the pits, I somewhat lost my motivation after those runs, as it simply started being too much about luck.

Buzzer beater run! It was a desert map but with very bad density and a lot of backtracking to go to the second floor. Could have been much better timer. This build is still rocking and it does not rely on any existing broken boss powers. So it should still remain as S tier once those adjusted. Probably with better fishing, and gear especially the amulet improvement 107 is doable.

Is BLOOD WAVE Dead? Season 8 Changes and PTR Testing

LordxSaura 2025-03-13 | This was recorded before the boost vendor with no season 8 powers (Eternal). One thing I forgot to mention in the video. Blood Orb nerf, this initially sounds very bad however Kessime's still generates the same amount of orbs (6 orbs) as season 7. Even though it generated 2 waves, it was only generating 6 orbs in season 7. But now each wave generating 3 orb and Kessime's generating 2 waves, we end up with the same numbers so this nerf happened to be not impactful in anyway.

Few things I am playing around with; Zan instead of Cir. Cir is significantly better in majority of the boss fights, but Zan helps with less strict skill rotation hence seems to be helping with clearspeed a bit better. Also playing around with Apogeic instead of Vehement, Apogeic is about 55%x where Vehement is 42%x. I was skeptical of these choices first but since we are at the stage where you need exact RNG and exact Boss; Zan might be more suited to get the absolute best timer. Similarly, Vehement is better for majority of the boss fights because less Wave cooldown but when you are fishing for the exact bosses, Apogeic seems to be better. (Credit to Necros from China mainly the Ahika as I saw him investing into these for the first time.)

Shadow BLOOD WAVE Pit 150 sub 5 min clears | Season 7 Diablo 4 Necromancer

LordxSaura 2025-02-18 | Haven't posted in awhile so small update! Since the season is slowing down, I have not been really pushing. Just been running some pits for a few hours each night here and there to enjoy the game. I usually attempt every map and just try to have fun with the build.

This run lined up perfectly with the best boss. If it had been a desert map, it could have easily been a 4-minute run or even under that. Honestly, I’m not really big fan of the amount of fishing is required to get really fast clears. The sheer amount of RNG that impacts the timer takes away from the competition—it becomes too much about luck. And on top of that, there’s still the progression bug, which just makes things worse. I will definitely be sharing my feedback with Blizzard on this, especially if one day we are going to get official leaderboards.

Desert map with good mob type - Hivemaster or Seahag with good mechanic, I think it is very possible to get runs somewhere between 3:30 min to 4 min. But unless you are lucky this requires significant amount fishing and resetting over and over.

CORRECTION: Did some further calculation and testing, Soul Harvest seasonal power shows as a multi in the tooltip however it is additive with the int% affix on the amulet. This significantly changes calculations making it so that Gloom Ranks significantly better than int% going back to my original suggestion!

BLOOD WAVE Pit 150 RANK ONE Clear in 5 minutes! Season 7 Week 3

LordxSaura 2025-02-05 | Fastest clear for now! :D The shadow blood wave build is pretty much optimized at this point. At this point its all about RNG, right mob type, best layout and the best boss. If this was Seahag instead of Bramble, it could have been 4:30 min clear easily. NOTE: Tidal bug is finally fixed! This will overall shave off a lot of time for many clears. However, I always play with a controller, and the bug was extra hard to mitigate as a controller user since aiming was rough. With this bug gone, the experience is much more controller-friendly and definitely saved me time that I couldn’t before.

Pit pushing continues! As we play test, we continue to iterate on the build. At this stage on the pit, it requires a lot of fishing and RNG. Layout, mob types, density, and the boss matters greatly. So many potential sub 7 min run gets ruined by mother's judgement, den mother and chief marauder.

This guide is designed with realistic gear expectations in mind. At Maxroll, we follow an in-house rule of not including more than one GA gear item in our guides. However, I’ve noticed that if your goal is to reach this level of play (Pit tier 150), multiple GA gear pieces become almost necessary (at least on some of the gear).

When running multiple GA items, some build priorities shift as well. For example, GA Int% becomes more valuable than non-GA Gloom and GA gloom as a 3rd affix option once you exceed 4150 Int. This level of min maxing makes it difficult to cover everything with a single planner. So, for those really pushing the limits with fully maxed-out, rarer gear, I’ll be providing a separate planner that accounts for multiple GA pieces. This way, you’ll have both a realistic gearing approach and an ultra-optimized version depending on your progression.

One of the latest changes is that; at a certain point, your damage gets so high that elite packs die within 4-6 casts of Blood Wave. As a result, mobs don’t go Unstoppable as often, making Exploiters Aspect less effective. Instead, running Cursed Aura and using Xal (Max Life Rune) provides a similar damage output with better uptime. However, if your damage isn’t quite there yet and enemies are taking longer to die, Exploiters and Zan-Wat combo is still the better choice!

Optimization continues! Force of will was bugged early but now its working and its great for this build. So that one replaced breath of the coven. If the boss was Drowned Seahag, this could have been easily 8 min clear. This progression bug is quite annoying and happens all the time, but this was a bug free run so wanted to post it.

I usually try to avoid counting clears that happen with a pit progression but seems like a lot of the builds that have been posted in the leaderboards have been with this bug, so decided to post it anyways. It has been happening way too often this season for some reason and it is fully unintentional that it actually somewhat even ruins your good legit runs.
