Fronted by guitarist Þórir Garðarsson of Sinmara and Svartidauði, who now also takes on vocal and bass duties, Vafurlogi presents a new chapter for him as a songwriter. Throughout years of activity with his other bands, the essence of Vafurlogi slowly cultivated in parallel below the surface. Initially a vessel for accumulated works not suitable for Svartidauði or Sinmara, Vafurlogi developed into an avenue for him to freely explore different creative ideas and moods. The lands of Brittany always provide us with the energy and the perfect setting for letting go and immersing ourselves completely in our Art.Each of our ceremonies has marked a milestone in our congregation since that time. Les Feux de Beltane was marked by the replacement of Kristik A.K. with Vagus Nox. "Et il n'y aura plus de nuit" was Messiatanik Armrek's final ceremony after more than 18 years of ignominious activism. Since then, he has taken a different path and now follows a different light.It was also during that same year, at "Et il n'y aura plus de nuit", that we had the honor of introducing Dehn Sora on stage, handling the machines and percussions. Dehn Sora was already known for his remarkable visual work on our previous album, "Fils de Dieu".Our last ceremony in January 2020 marked the arrival of Eurnnath Nefast on bass. We then delved into our inner selves to find necessary rest, and the health crisis was conducive to that. Our resilience was tested until the last minute before entering the studio in July 2021. We left as five and arrived at the gates of studio Kerwax as four. Vagus Nox had fallen into a vortex from which we are still not certain he has returned to this day.In this context, fraught with obstacles and challenges, it is within ourselves that we found the energy and inspiration to compose and present you this new offering, "Et Facta Est Lux". This fourth album marks the end of an era, both personally and artistically. Would it be possible at all to separate the two?Just like our previous works, a dynamic of improvisation remains at the core of our creative endeavors. The process has been enriched by numerous additions of instruments and sounds, brought by the fresh blood that has joined our congregation as well as this unique place that is the Kerwax studio. In the dictionary of corporeal modification, rejection occurs when an impulse leaves the body. As mirrored in the first edition of Treha Sektori in literary format – a book entitled The Sensation of Being one of Them – it assumed the form of a primal emotional state. A quixotic reflection, like a mirage, but still deeply felt. Here, rejection is imbued in the process of shedding flesh and replacing it with armour. Scales that no arrow could ever pierce without being absorbed. A body able to drink unscathed from puddles of purest poison; it is the rejection of the mortal cloak. “Rejet” is one step further in Treha Sektori’s strife to transcend its own limitations. Each and every medium is linked together. All of the accompanying images are crucial factors for those who wish to understand “Rejet” – vestigial structures of these bodies, and testimonies of their burdens. Fuelling the choice of the book format was the ironclad will to push ever-onwards – a sentiment deeply echoed in each of these tracks. The tunes themselves provide notation to mental images and help blur the borders between different sensory inputs. The music morphs from abstract inspirations to percussive pulses: heartbeats and breaths, as if beseeching external energies. The soundscape shows greater compositional confidence than before, ranging from desperate primal screams to the acceptance of wounds and the structured chaos of a trance, with disenchanted voices murmuring in the background. The progression within their discography is remarkable, quite frankly: a linear evolution starting with the most primitive of monochord black noise, then gradually morphing into the orchestral swarm of blades that is today’s incarnation. Constantly pummelling the boundaries of their own limits, for ten albums straight now. The new album is not only different to its predecessor, “Phantasmhassgorie”, but also from everything else they’ve done. “Also sprach das Chaos” consists of two songs: 14 and 19 minutes, respectively. Both as glacial and hostile as the Russian winter, with a plethora of surprises lurking in the icy darkness.
