Loake Shoemakers 2022-08-11 | Started by three brothers John, William and Thomas, Loake have been making traditional shoes in Northamptonshire, England since 1880. Today, 140 years later, we are still a family-run business, and our legacy as manufacturers of fine footwear lives on.From the design bench to the finishing room, each pair is carefully crafted with an uncompromising attention-to-detail and infused with the individual flair, personality, and magic of our dedicated makers. The famous Goodyear Welted construction for which we are known is an intricate process with each pair taking up to 8 weeks to produce. We still believe there is no finer way to makea gentleman’s shoe.Loake is a truly authentic British brand, having made footwear for British soldiers and officers intwo World Wars. We’ve also produced some iconic designs that have become synonymous with British youth culture, such as our Brighton loafer and Royal brogue, which were first introduced in the 70s and are still in production today.Despite our notable heritage however, we like to think that Loake is very much a forward-looking company, and we are dedicated to improving our sustainable footprint. All our Goodyear welted footwear is designed to be repairable to prolong their lifespan and encourage ‘recycling’ of footwear over sending to landfill.Our aim is simply to make the most handsome, comfortable, and durable shoes for every day and those special occasions and over the past few seasons, we have complemented our classic designs with a range of luxury casuals. Loake: The Sounds of the Factory Loake Shoemakers 2020-07-06 | It’s been more than 100 days since our craftsmen put down their tools at the start of lockdown, and this morning the familiar, magical sounds of our machines firing up, tools clinking and shoe racks rolling again has been nothing short of wonderful. It’s still an uncertain time and we are in a different landscape now, but we’re hopeful, and extremely proud of our family brand and the shoes that are produced within these walls. Loake Shoe Repair Service Loake Shoemakers 2015-06-18 | One of the benefits of Goodyear Welted footwear is that the shoes can be resoled and at Loake we are proud that we are able to prolong the life of our customers' shoes with a repair. This includes re-soling on the original last with new soles and heels, fitting new seat socks and re-finishing the upper part of the shoes. Some 130 skilled craftspeople, up to 75 shoe parts and approximately 200 different operations are involved. Only the very highest quality materials are used.
