TRANSFORMERS: EVOLUTION of the SHARKTICONS (1986 to SS86) Toy Spotlite 2024-12-30 | Transformers: The Movie introduced the savage Sharkticons in 1986 and a toy, Gnaw, was released. While they were not affiliated with the Autobots or Decepticons, a Decepticon symbol was placed on the toy. Serving the Quintessons, these shark-like monsters were the foot soldiers and executioners for their masters. Captain Kyle reviews and explores this toy's versions, along with some knockoffs and a third-party set.Gnaw was released in 1986, but we didn’t see the name Sharkticon again for 18 years and even then, it was not quite like the original characters. Eventually, we received new versions of actual Sharkticons in various sizes and with interesting transformations. This third-party H23B “Haraldr” from Newage’s Legendary Heroes line is an homage to that character and brings the Autobot Blaster’s foe to life in miniature. But this Autobot transformed into a boom box, which is a little behind the times. Enter Transformers Device Label, where Broad Blast (a.k.a. Blaster) becomes a computer and an actual working USB hub. Captain Kyle reviews this functional device and toy to see if it would fit into your collection.Blaster is a very different bot than Soundwave. Full of energy, an appreciation for music, sometimes known to rhyme… much different from Soundwave’s analytical nature and monotone voice. In the comics, he was much more prominent and tried to end Grimlock’s reign as Autobot leader. A warrior plagued by loss, he was dedicated to saving humans and ending the Decepticon threat. TRANSFORMERS JETFIRE “Phoenix” Fans Toys FT-10 Review Toy Spotlite 2024-12-09 | Transformers introduced Jetfire back in the 80s and due to the origins of the toy, had to redesign him for the comic and cartoon. This 2017 Fans Toys FT-10 Phoenix is an awesome representation of the redesigned character Skyfire, rivaling the Siege Jetfire and his oversized counterpart. Captain Kyle reviews this third-party version of the Autobot Air Guardian to see if he’s worth it for your collection.Jetfire, a.k.a. Skyfire, was rescued by the Decepticons in the cartoon from his icy imprisonment and became one of them at the urging of Starscream, his old scientist buddy. This allegiance didn’t last long as the cruelty and ambitions of the Decepticons became apparent to Skyfire. He became an Autobot. The toy was actually based on a Macross toy and due to rights issues, did not resemble the cartoon or comic book versions of the character. The toy retained the name Jetfire. Through the years, new Jetfire toys were produced. This one is a third-party version from Fans Toys and is an amazing, and large, version of the character. This interesting knockoff contains 3 Stunticons and 2 Technobots as a combiner team. Sometimes called Quickchange Kos, this was the only set that mixed Autobots and Decepticons. Captain Kyle reviews this 20-year-old set.Menasor is the combined form of Motormaster, Drag Strip, Breakdown, Wildrider, and Dead End. However, this knockoff set only has Motormaster, Drag Strip, and Breakdown. The Technobots Nosecose and Afterburner are included to round out the set. Therefore Scattershot, Strafe, and Lightspeed are not to be found. This set, produced in the early 2000s, was a cheap “reissue” set of these Transformers and the oddest one of the sets available at the time. TRANSFORMERS JETFIRE “Fire in the Sky” Oversized KO Review Toy Spotlite 2024-11-18 | Transformers Siege Jetfire is considered one of the best versions of the G1 Autobot Air Guardian produced. This oversized third-party knockoff is, as you might guess, bigger and has electronics that make his eyes glow blue. The Vincororr “Fire in the Sky” figure is a great addition to the collection of any Jetfire fan and Captain Kyle reviews it in detail.Jetfire was called Skyfire in the cartoon, mainly due to legal reasons, and was recruited by his old friend Starscream to join the Decepticons. But it wasn’t long before he determined they weren’t the best fit for him and switched over to join the Autobots. The Generation One toy did not resemble his cartoon version, again due to legal reasons, but was very popular nonetheless. This oversized version, like the Siege edition, is a great homage to his cartoon appearance and has accessories that allow him to also pay homage to the original toy. Enter the C-02 Special Edition Missing Link Sentinel Prime, a yellow repaint with all the same features. Captain Kyle reviews this toy to see if it is a repaint worth getting.Sentinel Prime has had various incarnations in Titans Return, Animated, Dark of the Moon, and the latest Transformers One. He is usually depicted as the Autobot leader before Optimus Prime, though in Animated they were actually rivals. His Dark of the Moon version sided with the Decepticons, which made him the worst until Transformers One came out. Sorry, spoilers. TRANSFORMERS Golden Lagoon BLOKEES Limited Set Review Toy Spotlite 2024-10-18 | Transformers Generation One gave us the Golden Lagoon episode, which is celebrated by this Blokees limited edition set of gold Transformers characters. While the episode was fun, it also showed the damage that conflict could cause. This set includes Electrum-coated Optimus Prime, Starscream with Megatron in gun form, Long Haul, Prowl, and Ironhide. Captain Kyle reviews them and reveals a fun bonus feature!Beachcomber discovered the Golden Lagoon when he took shelter in a cave during a battle that turned out to be a tunnel to a gorgeous oasis of nature. Smack dab in the middle of that paradise was a pool of the rare element Electrum, which could cover a Transformer’s body and render it impervious to weaponry. While the peaceful Autobot was the first to find it, the Decepticon Thrust soon discovered it and plunged in, emerging as an unstoppable golden warrior. Thrust shared his discovery with Megatron and the other Decepticons and they used the substance during their attacks on the Autobots. But once Beachcomber was able to reveal it to Optimus Prime, the tide was turned. This Blokees set shows 5 (or rather, six) Transformers coated in the substance. TRANSFORMERS Rukus & Bludgeon DOOM ‘N DESTRUCTION Review Toy Spotlite 2024-10-03 | Transformers Legacy United brings us Rukus and Stormbringer Bludgeon in this new Doom ‘n Destruction 2-Pack. Rukus is the G1 Triggercon Ruckus reimagined (and he lost a letter) and the Decepticon Bludgeon is apparently based on his “Stormbringer” appearance. And now both in the Mayhem Attack Squad. Captain Kyle reviews these figures to see if they fit into your collection.Rukus appeared in a flashback scene in Marvel Comics, where he and his fellow Triggercons accompanied Megatron in a question to find the Underbase.
